15 Athletes Who Gave Too Much Information

We've all heard rumors of athletes doing things. For example when Kobe Bryant had that hotel room scandal in 2003, Tiger Woods in 2009, and Alex Rodriguez with his infidelities and many more athletes have come out with scandals of their own. Some scandals though, are false and are just brought up to stir news and gossip. It really must be embarrassing to the athlete when a rumor comes out about them, especially when it's not true. It also could be a distraction to the team they are on. In baseball when PED use was rampant, it was a shame and embarrassing when the players would come out and confess they used PEDs.

Athletes want to play sports for a long time and do well. Some may also try to break records and they'll do anything they can to "cheat the system." In this article you will see 15 athletes whose habits were brought to the public, but provided a little to much information. It may not even be about sports; it could be a private episode with someone that the athlete shouldn't really want out in the open. And as observers, we really don't need to know all that info.

Dwyane Wade helped bring three NBA Championships to Miami. He is also a 12 time All Star. D-Wade may appear to be a humble, quiet person on the court but off the court he is far from quiet. Wade would also have wild parties. According to Deadspin, Wade would have parties at a Miami Beach apartment with a lot of women and banned substances. Wade was married with children when he would have these parties. Wade and his friends would pick up women in clubs and try to sleep with as many women as possible in one night. They would have parties two or three times a week. With Wade now being well into his 30s, hopefully he's grown past these parties.

Dwayne Bowe had himself a party seemingly whenever he wanted to. Bowe would hook up with many women during his rookie season. When asked about his early partying ways, Bowe told Pro Football Talk in 2010 "My rookie year, we were playing in San Diego, you hear stories about groupies hanging out in hotel lobbies, but some of my teammates had it set up so there was a girl in every room. The older guys get on MySpace and Facebook a week before we go to a city; when a pretty one writes back, they arrange to fly her in three or four days in advance. They call it importing.”

Well, needless to say, that was a little too much information. One of the girls in question was wearing his jersey she sat on his lap and took a picture to post on Facebook.

Fred Smoot played nine seasons in the NFL. Smoot was a player for the Minnesota Vikings and had seven interceptions in his career. Smoot was also  part of the Minnesota Vikings boating scandal. Smoot once did a Reddit discussion forum where he openly took questions about the Vikings' love boat and proceeded to provide full details about the boat.

That is way too much information. Smoot admitted to the boat scandal saying "best strippers from all over - about 55 from all over the country. skrippas." In more recent years though, Smoot has expressed regret over the whole boating scandal and says it definitely wasn't a cool thing to do. Over a decade later, he's hoping to not have to answer any more questions regarding the scandal.

Dani Osvaldo's parties may have been popular among his teammates, but it's definitely not something the world needed to know. He would take women in hotel rooms and do some nasty things. He organized a hotel "group" party with four other teammates in 2015. The party was interrupted by manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena who caught Juan Martinez in action. When the women were questioned about the incident, Yanina Ruiz denied it telling thebubble.com "  “I don’t know the Boca players. I’m a River fan, so nothing to see here.” Sounds like she was trying to cover herself so the guys wouldn't get in trouble. At the time of the incident, Osvaldo hadn't even played a game yet for the Boca Juniors, being on loan from Southhampton. He would make only seven appearances with the club.

The women's soccer team partied a little too hard and forgot they were going on the Toady Show the next morning. The women's soccer team was revealed to be intoxicated during their appearance on the Today Show. Hope Solo admitted that they partied too much and got drunk. Solo told ESPN, "When we were done partying, we got out of our nice dresses, got back into our stadium coats, and, at 7 a.m., with no sleep, went on the 'Today Show' drunk, Needless to say, we looked like hell!" Saying they were drunk during the interview probably didn't have to be said and must've been embarrassing to some of their other teammates. It also must've been embarrassing to the host. At least they've gotten the job done on the field!

Hope Solo once called the Olympic village an all out party where inhibitions are tossed out the window. She said in an interview with ESPN The Magazine "'I've seen people having sex right out in the open. On the grass, between buildings, people are getting down and dirty." That is way too much information to be sharing.

Other athletes have been pretty open to say that hooking up around the Olympic village is very common. Other players too have seen "action" in the Olympic Village. A skier named Carrie Sheinberg told ESPN The Magazine in the 1994 Olympics "'They made it clear that they'd trade me their gold for all kinds of other favors. I said jokingly, "Thanks, but Tommy Moe has a medal. I'll play with his." Way too much information there.

Tiger Woods was one of the greatest golfers of all time. However off the course he had an awful addiction. Sleeping with a lot of women to keep him satisfied.  When Tiger Woods couldn't sleep at night, he would do the deed to pass the time. He also loves seems to love the color red. One of his mistress told News Of The World "He had a thing about red and said he always wore it on Friday as that was his mother's favorite color." He even slept with one of his mistress after learning a short time before that his father had died. I guess something to take his mind off his father's death. It's really a shame he had an addiction and ruined his pro golfing career. But did we really need to know everything that was shared?

Greg Oden played three seasons in the NBA. Two with Portland and one with the Miami Heat. He played in 105 games in his short NBA career. He was that injury prone Greg Oden is on this list because he showed too much. He wound up taking pictures of himself in his birthday suit and posting it. Greg Oden admitted the pictures were him and apologized for it. That must've been embarrassing for him and people that are close to him.

Today nothing is a secret and everything comes out on the internet. Oden was selected first overall in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Trail Blazers. He missed the entire NBA season in 2007 because of an injury and started his NBA career in 2008.

Johnny Manizel was drafted by the Cleveland Browns and supposed to be the next big thing. However Manizel was all about the money and fame that comes with the sport and not putting the work in to actually succeed. Johnny Manizel is a party animal. He had everything going for him in the NFL. Manizel threw it all away because he was more interested in partying and abusing substances.

Unfortunately for Manziel, during a session with another woman, Bianca Ghezzi, the woman in question, posted something private on Instagram. Ghezzi posted a video to her Instagram of her and Manizel in bed. Manizel didn't have a shirt on and his tattoos were visible. You can see Ghezzi showing her cleavage and other girls wearing bikinis, throwing money off a balcony. Very embarrassing for Manizel, who doesn't care about anything but himself. If Manizel wasn't such a clown and embarrassing himself all the time, he had the chance to be a good NFL quarterback. Instead he was a complete bust.

Pat Burrell is a two time World Series champion. He played 12 seasons in the Major Leagues for the Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, and the San Francisco Giants. He had a career batting average of .253, 292 home runs and 976 RBIs. One time Burrell danced shirtless in a bar and didn't leave a tip on a $158 tab. He didn't care though, as he was probably too drunk to realize it. Then another time he hooked up with a girl and then left a "deposit" on her floor. When she woke up the next morning, to her surprise she saw a pile of poop on her floor. That is way too disgusting. Burrell has a ton of hookup stories that were shared in a Deadspin article, perhaps revealing a little too much information.

Josh Hamilton played nine seasons in the MLB. Hamilton played for the Texas Rangers Los Angeles Angels and the Cincinnati Reds. He batted a career .290 average, had 200 home runs and 701 RBIs. As talented as he was, Josh Hamilton is known for having a lot of problems with various substances. He would have sometimes not have memory of getting drunk. Despite having seemingly overcome his addiction problems by the time he was an MVP candidate for the Rangers, he had various relapses. Someone even tried to sell Josh Hamilton's private tape to a Dallas TV station during the relapse. The T.V. Station was offered the tape for a sum of $41,000, but thankfully the station declined and nobody saw the tape.

Patrick Kane was seen shirtless in a limo with two girls. He was looking like he was having a good time in the photo but felt embarrassed. It was a little distraction to the team and he said the incident was discussed internally. It's not known if he got in trouble internally by the team as it was never made public. Whatever the punishment was, the Blackhawks didn't want to be public about it. Kane wasn't the only one in the limo, as teammates John Madden and Kris Versteeg were also in it. They all to their shirts off for the women while the women kept theirs on in front of the camera.  Kane apologized telling the Huffington Post "I’m 21 years old, but it’s probably time to grow up a little bit." Showing him with two girls really isn't a good look when he's an athlete and needs to prepare on how to play well on the ice.

The year was 2007 and Pacman Jones was making it rain at a Las Vegas gentlemen's club. He also showered the dancers with money. However, he would take things a little too far, getting into a fight and there would be a shooting at the night club too. While he was making it rain, he thought the dancers were trying to take his bills without his permission as they were coming down the pole. Someone from Jones's entourage fired a shot into the air and the property damage led to three people getting hurt. Jones was ordered to pay $15,000 to the club following the incident. Jones was not one of the shooters but he pled no contest to a misdemeanor conspiracy charge and got a year probation. He also had to do 200 hours of community service.

Mickey Mantle is a three time MVP 20 time All Star and a Hall Of Famer. He played 18 seasons all with the New York Yankees. He had 536 career home runs 1509 RBI's amd career batting average of .298. Mickey Mantle was a seven time World Series Champion a Gold Glove winner and winner of the batting title. Mickey Mantle was a great baseball player, but he had a huge drinking problem. There was even one time when Mantle and Ruth were drinking together. Ruth had one girl on one leg and another girl on another leg. One night in a hotel, Mantle crawled out of his hotel room and crawled onto the 22 story ledge of their hotel. Oh yeah!

Darryl Strawberry got it on in between innings while his teammates covered for him. Dr. Oz asked Strawberry if he really did the deed in between innings. Strawberry replied “Yeah, it was pretty crazy, It was a pretty crazy lifestyle. You know, I thought it was pretty cool. I mean, that’s just the addiction, the drive." All Strawberry had to do was point to a woman in the crowd and tell a clubhouse attendant to bring her down so he could have a party before the next inning started. Having people cover for you so you can get it on in the middle of a game is a prime example of them not caring either. If the coaches really cared about their team, they'd have tried to get Strawberry to overcome his habits, instead of enabling him.
