The “post-Oscar slump” is a common thing in Hollywood. More than one actor has had the glory of winning an Academy Award but their next projects are total garbage. A few are infamous for basically having entire careers that almost make that Oscar win a curse. But Emma Stone has beaten those odds. In 2017, she hit the height of her young career, winning Best Actress for her role in the musical “La La Land.” For her follow-up, she channeled Billie Jean King in “Battle of the Sexes,” a dramatization of the tennis legend’s game against Bobby Riggs. Stone won massive critical acclaim for the part and the movie was a good success at the box office. Stone really got into it to mimic King’s look, moves and her struggles and did a fine job.

That should be no surprise given Stone’s rise in Hollywood. The actress has been blossoming since her breakout in “Superbad,” a mix of funny gal and sexy seductress that’s won her hails. She’s starred in comedies, dramas, even super-hero films as Gwen Stacy in “The Amazing Spider-Man.” Not even 30, she’s achieved monster success in Hollywood, dominating in movies and a great lady in interviews. That she’s very good looking helps a lot and made King better than ever before. Here are 15 pics to marvel more at Stone’s transformation into Billie Jean and provide hope she gets more sports movies under her belt.
15 The Look
Bright and intelligent, Stone is actually a high school dropout. She felt she just didn’t fit in there and dropped out to pursue her acting career. She was home-schooled after that and it doesn’t seem to have hurt her that badly. She got her break on a VH1 show trying to find a “new Partridge Family” but it didn’t lead to a regular series. But that all seems in the past now as Stone is at the top of her game as a star and captivating easily. This pic is a fine example, her dark blonde hair seeming to shimmer in the black and white setting. Her dark dress matches, a bit sheer at places but not too much so. It’s her look that gets you, showing her unique mix of Swedish, Irish and Scottish. The result are a pair of eyes that never cease to draw you in and this is a fine showcase for them. It shows the heat of the woman even without color and that same heat has pushed her to the heights of Hollywood.
14 Miscast?
For a lady so amazingly stunning, Stone incredibly has been cast in roles meant for her to be the “ugly gal.” A big case was “The House Bunny,” where Anna Faris is a model kicked out of the Hefner mansion and ends up helping a geeky sorority. Stone is supposed to be a huge loser nerd but putting glasses on her does nothing to hide her beauty. “The Help” also has her in frizzled hair and glasses but obviously the most beautiful woman in the cast. This early pic shows Stone’s heart from the start, the outfit looking great on her and flaunting her fair skin.
She’s throwing a look off camera with that alluring gaze of hers instantly captivating. Again, the idea of casting Stone as a “plain Jane” is flawed as the woman’s looks can’t be covered up no matter what and a key reason behind her massive success in Hollywood.
13 A Leg Up
Stone actually was into sports as a youth, including gymnastics. But her dreams of glory there were wrecked when she broke both her arms taking a harsh fall. So she moved into acting with some dance experience to take off there. She wasn’t a natural dancer but learned moves for roles, particularly a revival of the Broadway hit “Cabaret.” That paid off with her Oscar win for “La La Land” that showed her dance skills off. This pic is great with what looks like a nice normal but alluring top. Then we get to the sheer lace skirt leading down to garters and high heels. Stone really has an underrated pair of legs and this flaunts them very nicely. The sexy stare she gives to the camera tops it all, knowing the effect she has on the viewer and relishing it. So in a way, that bad fall really was a lucky break to give us all this very hot lady.
12 Wet and Lovely
This pictuere has Sone getting into a pool to show how classy she can look even when she's in the pool taking a dip. One movie where fans got to catch a glimpse of a wet Stone was in a 2011 hit comedy. 2011 had Stone really blossoming to major stardom with several films like the Oscar-winning “The Help.” Another one was “Crazy Stupid Love”, a quirky romantic comedy that focused on Steve Carrell as a man who’s rocked when his wife (Julianne Moore) cheats on him. He seeks advice from a womanizer (Ryan Gosling) on how to pick up women. Stone is a gal who at first clashes with Gosling but is soon attracted to him. In the film’s most memorable scene, she storms out on her boyfriend, runs through a rainy night, to the bar to kiss Gosling. The film is a delight (with a delicious twist to Stone’s character) but that scene of her dripping wet in a black dress but looking both goofy and hot is a key reason Stone is so beloved today.
11 Black Bathing Suit
Had things gone differently, Stone might have gotten a break on TV and not movies. In 2006, she auditioned for the role of Claire Bennett, the indestructible cheerleader on NBC’s “Heroes.” She was a top contender but in the end, it went to Hayden Pannetiere who became a star. In early 2007, Stone was in “Drive,” a Fox series about a group of people pushed into a cross-country race but it was axed after just four episodes. Just months later, “Superbad” really launched her career. But Stone was clearly meant for bigger things, her talent and charisma blossoming huge.
This pic of her on vacation also shows a nice body off, the black swimsuit mixing with shades and her sleek red hair for a great vibe. It shows Stone as a true beauty with a thin yet shapely form and that she was always going to rise up as a steamy starlet.
10 Gangster Gal
“Gangster Squad” was supposed to be a big movie for fall of 2012. It focused on a team of cops in 1940s Hollywood handling the rise of crime and fighting in their own terms. A huge push was on Stone was the femme fatale of the tale to lure cop Ryan Gosling. A key scene shown in trailers was a pack of gangsters attacking a target with machine guns in a movie theater. But in July of that year, a real shooting at a theater killed 12 people. Thus, the movie was pushed back to January of 2013 with that scene excised and the bad press may have contributed to it flopping. But Stone at least looked sensational with her stunning red hair matching the equally amazing dress, perfect for the era and smoldered on screen. So the movie may have flopped but at least Stone did her best to be red-hot in it.
9 Black and White
Stone has always done her best to be a “normal gal” even in Hollywood. She’s totally up front on how she faced unique stuff: She sucked her thumb until she was 11, is a bit of a computer geek and loves popular music. That vibe is what connects fans to her and keeps her grounded so she doesn’t need to be the typical diva. Yet when she does a pic like this, you can’t help but be awed. The black and white motif throws a nice vibe on it already but there’s the lovely lace black dress she wears that flaunts her body off. The way her hair flows around her face, messy yet also alluring is fun and it’s a bit longer than usual to get more attention. There’s her smoky eyes and her lush lips and overall, it looks absolutely stunning. For all her talk on trying to be a “normal gal,” this pic proves Stone’s capable of turning things up a notch very easily.
8 Poised
Stone is just as famous for the people she hangs out with as her own fame. She boasts probably the two best BFFs anyone could ask for: Jennifer Lawrence and Brie Larson. The three have bonded over the shared experience of young actresses boosted to mega-fame fast and also share how they’re Oscar winners who have also done comic book movies. When Stone won Best Actress, Larson was the first to congratulate her backstage with a hug and the trio share a “text party” with each other. Yet Stone manages to stand out from the beauties, especially in a dress like this. This dress is almost like a robe, lovely with its color and flowing easily over her body. Lounging on a couch, Stone looks introspective but hot and shows how her fame is great with anyone she works with.
7 Sheer Beauty
Her name is actually Emily Stone but when she tried to get her SAG card, it turned out there was already an actress by that name. She briefly went by Riley Stone but eventually settled on Emma. That does work out for her, it just sounds a great name and has added to her fame. This pic shows a younger but still steamy Emma rocking a great sleek and nearly sheer outfit. The light top has a great mix of silver decorations to it and it shows off her quite toned midriff. The sheer touches show off her flesh but not overtly so and her arms are perfectly posed to focus on her gorgeous face. No matter her name, this woman was destined for stardom and this picture shows how her steamy side would have earned her a lot of fame alongside her acting talent.
6 Bounce Back
Stone hasn’t done as many “what was I thinking” roles as other actresses. But one exception was in “Aloha.” A major comedown from acclaimed writer/director Cameron Crowe, the romantic comedy was slammed for a bad storyline and rough acting. The worst part was Crowe’s decision to cast Stone in the role of a Hawaiian native who’s half Asian. Given that Stone is an obvious all-American girl, the role was totally bad for her. She tried her best, looking good in the military uniform, but the yelling about the “whitewashing” of the casting overshadowed the movie itself. It was a flop with critics and audiences and Stone has admitted she should have passed on it. Thankfully for every flop Stone has, she has several winners to keep her career going strong.
5 The Winner
“La La Land” will sadly always be known as one part of the greatest screw-up in Oscar history. When it was announced as the winner of Best Picture, it seemed a good topper to several awards and the cast and crew happy as they got on stage to celebrate. But then came the fuss before the producers revealed that Faye Dunaway had read from the wrong envelope and the Best Picture winner was “Moonlight.” Stone can be seen in the back hearing of the mistake and mouthing “Oh my God” in shock. The reason is that somehow Dunaway got a backup envelope that had revealed Stone as the winner of Best Actress. At least Stone looked gorgeous in her golden gown, a beautiful vibe that was stunning on the red carpet. The controversy overshadowed her own win but at least she emerged from the debacle looking great.
4 Fiery Blonde
Stone is famous for her bright red hair but in reality, she’s a blonde. She’s gone to it for a few roles such as Gwen Stacy in “The Amazing Spider-Man” but that bright red hair is more her trademark. She credits Judd Aptow for inspiring it as she had a darker side when auditioning for her breakout role in “Superbad.” It was Aptow who saw her as a redhead and she quickly took to it. She does hold to it in various ways but has gone back to blonde now and then. That includes for this terrific “Vanity Fair” photo shoot boasting her in a gorgeous red suit. The cover had her in a white and red swimsuit and she looks like a 1940s film star. No matter the color, Stone always looks absolutely hot and thus rocks this look well.
3 Rolling Stone
Emma in “Rolling Stone” magazine just made sense. She had done a few interviews now and then but in 2016 got a great cover story on her career. She was open about it (helped by RS not caring if someone drops a few f-bombs) and clear about how her career was going. Stone has been an advocate for women’s rights and pushes it a lot in her work. That also includes helping those with anxiety issues as she’s struggled with that over the years. She also has had bouts of asthma, which is the reason for her unique raspy voice. Indeed, she was screaming so much on “Easy A” that she needed an oxygen mask. It was a good look at Stone just as she was reaching the height of her career and the outfits also enhance her sexiness big time with a very alluring look.
2 A Plus
While Stone had been getting attention for a while, “Easy A” was the movie that made her a true box office star. She played Olive, a teen girl who tells a lie about sleeping with a college guy. It soon gets completely out of hand and before she knows it, Olive is being described as the “easiest” girl in school despite the fact she’s a virgin. She even makes a business of acting like she’s hooked up with guys so they can brag about having sex. With things getting wild, Olive decides to go all out. Inspired by “The Scarlet Letter,” she comes to school in a tight black corset, shades and a bright red “A” over her heart. It was an obvious trailer shot and got huge attention. The movie was a hit and proved Stone’s power as a starlet who could handle comedy with ease while looking great.
1 Life is a Cabaret
The original “Cabaret” has been one of the more popular musicals of the last few decades. A dark tale of an American singer in Germany during the Nazi rise to power, it mixes good songs with some nice dramatic moments. It was famous for a movie version with Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles. Since then, various actresses have played the role in Broadway revivals. In 2014, Stone took a turn herself, her first chance to really show off her singing pipes and also work the nice outfits. She looks terrific flaunting her legs and getting good reviews for her turn with her wicked smirk and style on display. Stone would use those singing chops even better down the road but this made an already hot show even steamier thanks to how she worked Sally’s sexiness to full display.
