Looks can be deceiving, especially when it comes to someone’s age. Sometimes we can use clues to help us figure out an athlete’s age: When did they graduate from college? In what year were they drafted? How long have they been playing professionally? On the LPGA Tour, however, it’s much more difficult to guess a golfer’s age because not all golfers follow the same career path. On the Tour, there are older women who have not achieved as much success as some of the younger golfers, and there are younger women who have been playing on Tour much longer than their more senior counterparts.

Golf is a sport where focus and concentration are paramount; some athletes master those skills so early on in their careers that they appear much more mature than their age would indicate. Some women on the Tour wear clothes and accessories that make them look older than they are, while some dress in a way that makes them look much younger. And finally, there’s the way that players act on the golf course. Some professional golfers remain cool and collected under pressure, while others have difficulty controlling their emotions, and still others shy away from the spotlight completely. The way a player behaves on camera can also make them appear either younger or older than they are.

We’ve compiled a list of 8 LPGA golfers who are younger than they look, and 7 who look younger than they are. Read on to discover the surprising ages of some of the more popular golfers currently on the LPGA Tour. Were you able to guess how old each golfer was the last time you saw them play?

17 Looks Older: Paige Spiranac (25 Years Old)

When we say "looks older" we couldn't possibly mean it in a negative way when talking about Paige Spiranac. Paige has gained serious notoriety on the golf scene, not necessarily because of her play but rather for her outspoken nature. In a bit of a "Happy Gilmore" moment, Paige Spiranac went off on the LPGA for having restrictive dress codes that made women feel ashamed of their bodies rather than celebrating them for what they are: beautiful and talented competitors on the world's stage.

This lead to widespread media attention and made Paige Spiranac the centre of the golf world for a brief time.

Needless to say her popularity skyrocketed, as fans were clamouring to see more of Spiranac and her outfits of protest. Much of the attention has calmed down, but that didn't stop her from amassing a whopping 1.4 million followers on social media. She is a fan favourite, and no matter what the LPGA says, she is bringing attention to the sport like few before her ever could. Considering all that she has done already in her life and career, it is safe to say that it comes as a surprise that she only very recently cracked the quarter century mark and is only 25 years old.

16 Looks Younger: Blair O'Neal (37 Years Old)

Whatever Blair O'Neal is doing to stay fit and look young, it works and then some. O'Neal made her name as a golfer and model, and more recently she made the transition to television as a host on the Golf channel. She is a social media brand ambassador for some major companies, and was even the winner of Big Break: Dominican Republic. She doesn't have quite the same following as Paige Spiranac has, mostly because she hasn't really had any issues with the league or the media. However, she has still managed to garner an impressive 283,000 followers on social media.

With her incredible looks, graceful demeanour and strong work ethic, O'Neal has helped bring more attention to the game of golf. She has proven to so many critics that female golfers can expand beyond the horizons of golf and grow their own brands. What is still even more incredible is that some one who has accomplished so much across so many different career paths hasn't become a household name! In any case, it can't be said that she hasn't been taking care of herself. Despite looking like she might be just breaking on to the golf scene, she is actually 37 years old, having recently celebrated her birthday in the month of May.

15 Looks Older: Michelle Wie (28 Years Old)

Michelle Wie is probably the most well-known golfer on this list. At the age of ten, she was the youngest player to qualify for a USGA amateur championship, and at the age of 12, was the youngest player to qualify for an LPGA tour event. Both records have since been broken, but were nonetheless exceptional feats. Wie’s parents, originally from South Korea, immigrated to Hawaii in the 1980’s. Wie’s mother was a professional golfer, and was South Korea's women's amateur golf champion in 1985. By the age of four, Wie was already following in her mother’s footsteps. Fast forward to 2003, when Michelle is 13 and making her own golf headlines: making the cut at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, and later making the cut at the U.S. Women's Open. She was the youngest player to do so, and that’s a record that still stands to this day.

In 2005, at the age of 15, Michelle turned professional but was not allowed to join the LPGA tour until she turned 18. Wie struggled through her early years on the tour, and did not win her first major championship, the U.S Women’s Open, until 2014. Wie has accomplished so much in her storied career that she is easily the most recognizable veteran on tour. To see her in recent pictures next to her peers, might think Wie is approaching her mid-30’s, but the truth is she is only 28 years old and has many more years of golf ahead of her.

14 Looks Younger: Paula Creamer (31 Years Old)

Paula Creamer began golfing at an age when most of the women on this list were already winning junior titles. She first picked up her clubs at the age of 10, and by the age of 12 she had already won 13 consecutive regional junior events. By the time Paula turned 18, she had won the LPGA qualifying tournament, and shortly thereafter, in 2005, became a member of the LPGA Tour. Creamer kicked off her rookie season with multiple wins over a short period of time. Her rise to fame on the LPGA Tour sky rocketed, and she became the youngest and fastest player to ever earn $1M on the Tour. Creamer was awarded Rookie of the Year honours after winning two events, finishing in the top-10 eight times, and finishing second in money earnings that season to the legendary Annika Sörenstam.

Creamer kept up her solid play for many years and finally captured the first major of her career when she won the 2010 U.S. Woman’s Open.

From 2005 to 2014 she was consistently ranked in the top-20 world woman’s ranking, but she is no longer able to keep up with today’s young superstars. Her world ranking has fallen in recent years to 139th as of the end of the 2017 season. Although Paula has been on the Tour for years, she doesn’t feel old at all. Nicknamed the “Pink Panther” for her pink outfits and golf balls, she still looks and acts like a young 20-something-year old.

13 Looks Older: Charley Hull (22 Years Old)

At only 22 years old, Charley Hull’s golfing resume is already rather extensive. Hull, the 25th ranked female golfer in the world, first started golfing at the age of two. She won her first significant handicap event against adults at the age of 9, and was the youngest person ever to participate in the international Solheim Cup. She turned pro in 2013 at the age of 17, and won her first professional title only days before her 18th birthday. Hull has earned $2.2M over the course of her career. Because Hull has been golfing competitively from such a young age, it’s no surprise that she already shows more focus and concentration than other young golfers of the same age. That ability to focus

during big moments is apparent in her stats; so far, for the current 2018 season, Hull is second in the LPGA for number of rounds under par, with an impressive 31 rounds. Hull’s focus on the field makes her appear older than her 22 years of age. Looking at recent pictures of Hull, she is a pretty, blonde woman who tends to wear quite a bit of makeup on her face during competitions. The thick layer of makeup further ages her, as she doesn’t look quite as natural as the other 22-year-olds on the course.

12 Looks Younger: Ryann O'Toole (31 Years Old)

This young American’s golf career is unlike any of the others on this list. Ryann O’Toole was not a standout collegiate player, but did manage to record 12 top-10 finishes while she attended UCLA. O’Toole, who turned pro in 2009, has not yet been able to strike it big as a professional golfer. She had to apply several times to gain LPGA Tour status, and was finally accepted on conditional status in 2011. One thing that differentiates O’Toole from many of the other professional golfers is O’Toole’s participation on the reality TV show “The Big Break” in 2011. On the show, O’Toole competed against other golfers for the chance to play in select tournaments and events. She finished 6th out of 11 golfers that season, and although she wasn’t victorious, her fame increased around the golfing world.

Ryann is the ultimate athlete; when she’s not playing golf, you can find her surfing, wake boarding, doing yoga, snowboarding, playing basketball, skateboarding, working out and running. All of these activities are documented regularly on her Instagram account, where she is very active. O’Toole is enjoying life and tearing up the gym like a young 20-year old. No way would you think that this beauty is already 31 years old.

11 Looks Older: Brooke Henderson (20 Years Old)

Before she turned pro in 2014, Canadian Brooke Henderson was the top-ranked woman amateur golfer in the world. She had won a multitude of tournaments as an amateur, including the 2013 Canadian Women’s Amateur tournament. Having heard her name spoken in the golf world for so long makes one forget that Henderson is still only 20 years old. Once she joined the LPGA, Henderson won her first major tournament, the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, in 2016. At 18, she was the youngest person ever to win the event. Henderson has won five other LPGA tour events, including the recent 2018 Lotte Championship in Hawaii. She was named to Canada’s Olympic Team for the 2016 Summer Olympics, and placed seventh in Rio de Janeiro. Henderson is currently ranked 16th in the world.

Pictures of Henderson on the golf course show a calm and composed golfer who rarely shows any emotion.

Such composure is not often seen in young athletes, who have difficulty controlling their nerves and frustrations. When she is captured smiling, Henderson displays a timid, reserved smile than is more often seen on older rather than younger people. She prefers to live out of the spotlight; her Instagram page may have 51k followers, but she’s only ever made 25 posts over almost 4 years! Henderson embodies a maturity level much older than her 20 years.

10 Looks Younger: Jessica Korda (25 Years Old)

In contrast to Brooke Henderson, we have the American Jessica Korda. Jessica Korda, the tenth ranked female golfer in the world, joined the LPGA in 2011 and has five professional wins to her credit, her most recent being the Honda LPGA Thailand tournament in February 2018. She has earned over 500k so far in 2018, and $4.3M over her career. Although she is 25 years old, Korda appears much younger than her actual age.

Where Henderson is calm and collected on the golf course, Korda can be a little dramatic. During the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open, she fired her caddy in the middle of the third round. She then called upon her boyfriend, who had been watching from the gallery, to be her caddy for the second half of the round. Photographs of Korda show her on the golf course striking silly poses and smiling brightly for the camera. She loves the spotlight; she is active on social media, with over 100k followers on Instagram and over 2k posts. Korda doesn’t only use social media for professional reasons, she posts casual pictures of her dog, her boyfriend, and herself on the beach. While we wouldn’t call Korda “immature” per say, we do think that she acts quite a bit younger than other professional golfers her age.

9 Looks Older: Pernilla Lindberg (31 Years Old)

Pernilla Lindbergh, the 31st ranked player in the world, is also 31 years old. Lindbergh joined the LPGA in 2010 after she graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in international business. This past April, the Swedish golfer won her first professional tournament, the ANA Inspiration, which just so happens to be a major championship. Winning the championship skyrocketed her ranking from 95th in the world to a career high 31st. She has earned $2.4M over her career, a good chunk of that coming this year after the championship win.

Although celebrating her first title, Lindbergh isn’t one of the youngest on the tour; in fact, photographs of Lindbergh make her look a tad more seasoned than her 31 years of age. It’s not so much her looks, but rather her style, that ages her. Most pictures of Lindbergh have her wearing an oversized visor that covers most of her face, a look reminiscent of nineties-era soccer moms. But then again, it could be that Lindbergh only looks older than she is because she’s often pictured beside much younger LPGA superstars; nevertheless, upon seeing her picture, we were a bit surprised to find out that she was only 31 years old.

8 Looks Younger: Eun-Hee Ji (32 Years Old)

At first glance, Eun-Hee Ji looks like one of the rookies on the LPGA tour, but in reality, she’s 32 years old and has already been playing professionally for 11 years! Ji, from South Korea, joined the LPGA tour in 2007 and made an immediate impact: she recorded two top-10 finishes in her first four events. In 2008, Ji won her first LPGA title at the Wegmans LPGA tournament, and a year after that, she won her first major championship, the 2009 U.S Women’s Open.

After winning both the Wegmans LPGA and the U.S Open, Ji used a translator for her acceptance speech; she later commented that she felt that the LPGA’s proposed “English only” requirement for acceptance speeches was a result of her actions. The LPGA later dropped the requirement after fierce opposition from sponsors and lawmakers. Ji is currently ranked 19th in the world and has raked in almost $6.0M throughout her career. She stands only 5’2’’, is petite, and doesn’t look anywhere close to 32 years old. Although she plays golf outside for a living, her skin is flawless and smooth. If she continues to perform as well as she ages, Ji will continue to play professional golf for a long, long time.

7 Looks Older: Lizette Salas (28 Years Old)

Lizette Salas’s career achievements and her social media accounts would have you believe her to be a focused, hard-working veteran of the LPGA tour. Her looks may also suggest that she is older than her actual age. The young America can pose with the late 30-something year-old veterans on the course and not look out of place, even though she is only 28. Salas is a native of California, and spent her college days at the University of Southern California. At USC, she was recognized as an All-American Golfer in each of her four years there. Her decorated collegiate career was filled with individual wins, Freshman awards, Player of the Year awards. In 2010, she qualified as an amateur for the U.S. Woman’s Open, but unfortunately did not make the cut.

After turning pro, Salas’s career seemed to peek in 2013. 2014 saw her compete in 48 events, posting 1 victory and 11 top-10 finishes, as well as earning a spot in the top-20 ranking of woman golfers in the world. Although her career saw some regression in 2016, she came firing back in 2017 with 8 more top-10 finishes during 27 events, and dropped her average score to a career low of 70.13. Salas’s appearance and demeanor may have you thinking she is up there in age with the other LPGA veterans, but don’t let looks fool you; she’s only 28 years of age.

6 Looks Younger: Sung Hyun Park (24 Years Old)

Sung Hyun Park’s 2017 season was one of the most incredible seasons in LPGA history. If you have not heard of this phenomenal athlete, keep your ears open, because she is poised to become one of the best Lady Golfers of all time. In 2016, as an amateur, the South Korean golfer participated in 4 of the 5 major events finishing T6, T3, T50 and T2. This is impressive as many professionals are not able to finish in the top 10 in three different major championships in the same year. Park turned pro the next year, in 2017.

Park started the 2017 season off with back-to-back 14th place finishes at the first two major events of the year.

She won the third major event, the U.S. Woman’s Open, with a 2-stroke victory. In total, Park competed in 23 events last season and made the cut in all of them. Over her career, she is 31 for 31 cuts made with 16 top-10 finishes. Park was named the 2017 Rookie of the Year and Co-Player of the Year, the first time since 1978 that a golfer had won both awards. The fact that Park only recently joined the LPGA tour and is competing in some of her first major championships would make one believe that she has not yet reached her 20’s. Pictures of Park don’t make her look that much older, either. In reality, the South Korean is already 24 years old.

5 Looks Older: Azahara Munoz (30 Years Old)

Azahara Munoz, the Spaniard, was once ranked as high as 14th in the world rankings, but has since seen her rank steadily decline over the years. She now sits as the 72nd ranked Woman’s golfer in the world. The graduate from Arizona State University had a successful amateur career; highlights include winning the 2008 NCAA Women’s Individual Championship, and winning the British Ladies Championship in Wales in 2009. Munoz took her wonderful amateur career and turned professional in 2009. During her first event on the Ladies European Tour (LET), she fired a final round of 64, tying her for the lead and earning a spot in a playoff. During the first playoff hole, she drained an eagle to win the event.

In 2012, Munoz would post her first LPGA victory when she won the Sybase Match Play Championship, which is also the last victory she has posted as a professional. It would seem that Munoz’s career came to a peak several years ago, and her best days of golf are behind her. Add a declining career to the fact that Munoz looks like she has spent a lot of time in the sun; pictures of her show a mature woman who looks to be in her late 30’s. It’s hard to believe that Munoz is not yet 31.

4 Looks Younger: Jennifer Song (28 Years Old)

Jennifer Song joined the LPGA in 2011 after an impressive amateur career. Song, who holds both American and South Korean citizenship, grew up playing on the Korean National Golf team. She moved to the United States in 2008 to attend college at the University of Southern California. As a freshman member of the USC golf team, she set the all-time single-season stroke average. That summer, in 2009, Song won both the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links and the U.S. Women’s Amateur titles, becoming only the second player ever to win both in the same year. In 2010, Song was on the American team that won the Curtis Cup. Song turned pro later in 2010, and is currently ranked 48th in the world. Her best finish in a major championship came earlier this year, when she was the runner-up at the ANA Inspiration tournament, losing in a sudden-death playoff.

Pictures of Song show a young woman who does not yet look 28 years of age. When posing for photographs, Song tends to shy away from the camera, behavior typical of someone much younger. Song comes across as shy and reserved, and rarely looks at the camera straight-on. If Song continues to play as well as she did at the ANA Inspiration, she will be thrust in front of the camera more often, and perhaps she will learn to enjoy it more and be a bit more relaxed in pictures.

3 Looks Older: Ariya Jutanugarn (22 Years Old)

Ariya Jutanugarn, currently ranked the fifth best female golfer in the world, was once named the number one golfer in the Women’s World Golf rankings. When she won the 2016 Women’s British Open, she became the first Thai golfer to win a major championship. She has earned over $5M in prize money throughout her career, and currently leads the LPGA in prize money this year. Currently ranked fifth in the world, and having already accomplished so much, it’s hard to believe that she’s only 22 years old. In 2007, at 11 years of age, Jutanugarn became the youngest player ever to qualify for an LPGA event. She turned pro at the end of 2012, at the age of 17.

Photographs of Ariya on the golf course show a composed, contemplative young woman who looks wise beyond her years. It’s hard to find a picture of Jutanugarn acting like a typical 22-year old. Beyond her looks, her impressive statistics also speak to her level of maturity; Ariya has the LPGA’s second best putting percentage so far in 2018, and, of all the women on tour, has recorded the most birdies this year (205). Perhaps the fact that she has risen to the top of women’s golf at such a young age causes her to appear much older than she is.

2 Looks Younger: Moriya Jutanugarn (23 Years Old)

In April 2018, Moriya won her first ever professional LPGA tour event when she won the Hugel-JTBC LA Open. Moriya has toured with the LPGA since 2013, when she named LPGA rookie of the year. Since turning pro, she has earned an impressive $3.3M in prize money. She currently sits ninth in the Women’s World Golf rankings. Although Moriya has enjoyed her own share of success on the golf course, her achievements aren’t as numerous as her sister Ariya’s. Ariya has more titles, more prize money, and has been playing professional golf longer than Moriya has. It comes as shock that Moriya, not Ariya, is the elder of the two Jutanugarn siblings. Moriya is, in fact, 23 years old, a full year older than Ariya.

Moriya and Ariya are only the second set of sisters to win on the LPGA tour. When the two are side by side, Ariya dwarfs her older sister; Moriya stands at only 5’1’’ compared to Ariya’s 5’7’’. In pictures, Ariya typically appears focused and thoughtful, while Moriya is often seen with a big grin plastered across her face. On their own, her small stature and ready smile date her as much younger than she is, and comparing her to Ariya doesn’t help set the record straight.

1 Looks Older: Shanshan Feng (28 Years Old)

Shanshan Feng is the second-highest ranked female golfer in the world. She turned pro in 2007, and in 2008, she became the first Chinese golfer to join the LPGA Tour. During the 2012 LPGA Championship, Feng shot an impressive bogey-free final round to win her first major title. On top of her major win, Feng has eight other LPGA tour wins, and during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, she won the women’s golf bronze medal. From November 2017 through April 2018, Feng was ranked the world number one female golfer. She became the first Chinese golfer – male or female - to be ranked number one. Over her professional career, Feng has earned an impressive $10M.

Feng doesn’t quite look as young as she is. Her face and her expressions are more mature than a typical 28-year old’s. Because Feng turned pro nearly 11 years ago, and has been in the golfing world spotlight ever since, any physical transformations she experienced are on public record for all to see, and unfortunately, she has aged physically quite a bit since then. Although she is in fine physical condition and is playing some of the best golf of her career, Feng looks a bit older than she is.
