According to a study published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, there might actually be a scientific reason for why men, more than women, cheat on their partners. The explanation, according to the author of the study, is that “men are more likely to give in to sexual temptations because they tend to have stronger sexual impulse strength than women do.” Sexual impulse—or libido—is largely the product of testosterone, and no one has more testosterone than athletes, which might explain why so many over the years have cheated on their significant others.
Hyperactive sex drives are only part of the problem, however. There’s also the fact that athletes are some of the most adored people in the world, with women practically lining up to sleep with them. More than anything, though, the athletes themselves are to blame. They say don’t hate the player, hate the game, but when the game is breaking your partner’s heart and potentially destroying families, I think it’s only fair that the player bear some of the guilt.
To be fair to the cheaters, the following women likely would have tempted even the most loyal of boyfriends.
Here are the 40 hottest athlete mistresses.
The whole world, including his fiancé (now ex-fiancé), found out about Seth Rollins’s mistress Zahra Schreiber, a former NXT wrestler, early last year when a nude photo of her was posted to his social media accounts (he claims that the photo was posted without his consent). Rollins apologized to his fans, but his girlfriend, Leighla Schultz, wasn’t as ready to forgive, as she would retaliate by posting nude photos of the WWE star on her twitter page.
What was the big takeaway from all this? Two things: 1) be careful what you do with nude photos 2) Schreiber is pretty hot—at least on the outside. Her inner beauty leaves a lot to be desired. A few months after the cheating scandal with Rollins, she was fired for posting “pro-Nazi artwork” on her Instagram.
Alexis Miller is just one of Shaquille O’Neal’s many mistresses (four made this list). An aspiring rapper from Atlanta who went by the name “MaryJane,” Miller eventually sought a restraining order against Big Diesel, claiming that he was stalking her and sending lewd and threatening messages via phone and email.
The two apparently had been seeing each other for a year and a half, at which point she broke it off and he allegedly turned nasty. According to The Hollywood Gossip, “She alleges he threatened to hurt her, while also harassing her with heavy breathing over the phone.” She also claimed he bribed people in the music business not to work with her in the future.
I’d be wary of starting an affair with a woman whose last name is Money, but apparently that didn’t deter former Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer from hooking up with Michelle Money, a former Bachelor contest who confirmed the rumors to playerswives.com in 2015, saying, “Yes, I was in a relationship with Carlos while he was still married. What I did was wrong… I’m not trying to shy away from the fact that he was still married. I don’t put that on Carlos.”
Boozer and his wife, CeCe, were together for six years before calling it quits once news broke of the affair. Together, they have three children.
It’s a good thing Carlos and Michelle’s relationship didn’t work out. Boozer-Money sounds like the most doomed relationship of all time.
Rule number one of “Bro Code” is you don’t steal another guy’s girl. So when Russell Wilson stole Joseph Fauria’s girlfriend (or so he thought), former Diva Erika Hammond, the Lions tight end took exception and went on a twitter rant to call out the Seattle Seahawks quarterback, writing: “Hey @DangeRussWilson enjoy her @ErikaAnnHammond. She had me thinking she was a loyal GF. I almost feel you @BrennanClay24 #SprayTan.” The next day, Fauria apologized for his tweet, saying he “didn’t have all the facts,” which suggests that perhaps Wilson and Hammond’s affair was pure gossip.
Wilson has since put the scandal behind him and is now married to Ciara.
Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa (no, not Vanessa Curry) met when he was 21 and she was just 17. Despite being married for a decade and a half (and yes, they’re still together, and they’re expecting their third child), it has long been rumored that Kobe has cheated on his wife—with more than one woman. One of those women was Vanessa Curry, who was just 18 years old and working as a Los Angeles Lakers cheerleader at the time of the alleged affair.
Gossip site The Dirty broke the news back in 2008, claiming that Vanessa was forced to resign from the cheer squad because of the relationship.
When Joseph Fauria suspected his girlfriend of cheating with Russell Wilson, he reached out to former Oklahoma running back Brennan Clay for support. That’s because Clay went through a similar situation.
After discovering more than 50 text messages between his wife, Gina D’Agostini, and his former teammate DeMarco Murray, Clay did the only sensible thing you can do in such an event—he took to twitter, writing, “So Demarco Murray was having an affair with my wife ..I’m done.”
It turned out there might not have been an affair after all, as Clay later tweeted an apology and said he had jumped to conclusions “without knowing all the facts.”
Jamie Jungers—or “Mistress #4,” as she was dubbed by the media—was one of the roughly seven million women (okay, it was more like a dozen, but it felt like millions) to come forward claiming to have slept with Tiger Woods while he was married to Elin Nordegren. Described as a “sometime model” by the Daily Mail, she even claimed that she and Woods had slept together on the night his father died.
Jungers made headlines again in 2014 when she revealed to The National Enquirer that she “spiraled out of control thanks to a lifestyle of booze and pills” following her relationship with the pro golfer, eventually winding up in rehab (not sex rehab, like Woods).
French model and fashion designer Zahia Dehar wasn’t just attached to one big-name soccer player—she was attached to several, including Karim Benzema, Frank Ribery, and Sidney Govou.
Dehar, a former lady of the night, was paid for her services by the famous soccer players—the problem is, she was under 18 at the time. While the age of consent is 15 in France, the same rules don’t apply when it comes to the “escort” industry. Ribery and Benzema, both members of the French national team at the time, found themselves in hot water, facing up to three years in prison for their indiscretions. Ultimately the case was dropped, and Dehar would go on to use the notoriety she had gained from the scandal to jumpstart her career in the fashion industry.
Jessica Dorrell was the woman behind one of the biggest—and most embarrassing—cheating scandals in recent sports history. Bobby Petrino, head coach at the University of Arkansas at the time, got into a motorcycle crash in April of 2012, and it was later discovered that Dorrell, a former U of A volleyball player and the football team’s assistant, was riding with him at the time.
Petrino had hired her to be the team’s assistant even though she was unqualified for the job, supposedly so he could begin an affair with her. Despite his best efforts to cover the relationship up, word soon got out and he lost his job.
This time it was the woman doing the cheating.
Khloe Kardashian clearly has a thing for athletes (Lamar Odom, James Harden, Derrick Ward, Rashad McCants), which makes her alleged affair with former Los Angeles Dodgers MVP Matt Kemp all the more believable.
Although they claimed just to be good friends, Kemp and the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star apparently dated briefly in 2013, smack dab in the middle of her marriage with Odom. To be fair, Kardashian and Odom weren’t exactly on the best of terms at the time, and, in fact, she had filed for a divorce (which she later withdrew).
Khloe quickly moved on from Kemp (and eventually Odom) and is now on to another athlete boyfriend: Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson.
Jeff Gordon was indeed a very merry man when he hooked up with Playboy model Deanna Merryman in the early 2000s—that is, until his wife at the time, model Brooke Sealey, found out about it and sued him for divorce, eventually winning $15.3 million.
He moved on from his love-triangle with the two models by marrying Ingrid Vandebosch, another model (seems like this guy has a type). What’s his secret? How does he keep landing all these smoking hot models? Well, they do say chicks dig a guy with a nice car. Or maybe it has something to do with the fact that he’s worth an estimated $150 million. Yeah, probably the second one.
In her tell-all book—The Real Diary: Lessons from the Good Time Girl to Champion, which was robbed of a Pulitzer Prize—New York escort Loredana Jolie made some pretty bold claims about Tiger Woods, from the size of his member to his sexual proclivities (like the fact that he fantasized about men). She also claimed that he had a drug problem: “Tiger was kind of addicted to pills, I saw him taking sleeping pills and painkillers.”
Jolie’s allegations, however, have to be taken with a grain of salt, since she seemed to be suffering from a bit of delusion, claiming that her book “reveals intimate secrets and details that can save millions [of] people worldwide,” and that, if not for the fact that she had changed her phone number, she and Tiger would have still been together.
Former Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez was a cheater in more ways than one. Before his alleged affair with a certain pop star (we’ll get to that later), he cheated on his wife, Cynthia Scurtis, with Candice Houlihan, a hairdresser and former stripper from, of all places, Boston.
Houlihan told the New York Daily News that she and the 3-time MVP had hooked up a couple times in 2004 whenever he was in town to play the Red Sox. If you’ll recall, 2004 was the year when A-Rod and the Bronx Bombers blew a three-game lead to the Red Sox in the American League Championship Series, paving the way for the first World Series championship in Boston since 1918. Could it be that the "Curse of the Bambino" was undone by a Beantown stripper?
Former Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer Tie Domi was known for his knockouts during his playing days, but he landed a different kind of knockout when he hooked up with Canadian politician Belinda Stronach. After 13 years of marriage, Domi’s wife Leanne left him when she found out about the affair, leading to a bitter and public divorce.
For the sake of his children, including current Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi, Tie has kept mum about the affair, which CTV said “steamed up ice rinks and titillated Parliament Hill,” even after they broke things off in 2007, roughly a year after his divorce.
Before Stronach, Domi allegedly had an affair with Wayne’s World actress Tia Carrere in 2001.
Even beautiful, famous actresses aren’t immune to being cheated on. Just ask Eva Longoria, whose husband, San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker, was involved in a “sexting relationship” with former teammate Brent Barry’s wife, Erin Barry.
While sources claim the two never actually physically hooked up, the texts were enough to end his three-year marriage with Longoria. She later revealed that she’d found hundreds of messages between her husband and Barry, and that this wasn’t the first time he’d strayed from her. Parker apparently cheated on her at the beginning of their relationship and maintained contact with the woman throughout their marriage.
Barry and her husband also split up not longer after news of the questionable relationship broke.
NFL running back Reggie Bush has certainly had his troubles with women over the years, from his doomed relationship with Kim Kardashian to the recent allegations that he tried to pay his mistress $3 million to keep her pregnancy quiet and get an abortion.
The troubles don’t end there. It was rumored that his three-year relationship with Kim K. ended because he had cheated on her with a blonde waitress named January Gessert. As Hollywood Life reported at the time of the split, “January was spotted leaving the 25-year-old running back’s Hollywood Hills home 7 a.m. March 16 — the day before he allegedly dumped Kim, 29, via text.” When questioned about the nature of their relationship, Gessert “claimed she ‘only [knew] him from TV.’”
You’ve got to give it to Madonna—even in her late 50s she’s still competing with women half her age. In the case of her relationship with Alex Rodriguez, she was competing with 35-year-old Cynthia Scurtis, his wife at the time.
The Queen of Pop, who was then married to filmmaker Guy Ritchie, used the oldest excuse in the mistress book when she claimed that she and A-Rod were “just friends,” but she wasn’t fooling anyone, especially Scurtis, who filed for divorce shortly after rumors of the affair hit the newsstands.
Madonna is just one of many women with whom Rodriguez has been romantically linked, both in and out of marriage, including Cameron Diaz, Kate Hudson, Julianne Hough, and Torrie Wilson.
A steroid scandal isn’t the only blight on Roger Clemens’s career. The New York Daily News broke the story in 2008 that the 7-time Cy Young winner had been in a relationship with country musician Mindy McCready for years. Worse yet, the affair began when she was just 15 years old (although she claims it didn’t turn sexual for years).
Clemens, of course, denied the affair, but he doesn’t exactly have the best reputation for being honest. When asked about the allegations put forth in the New York Daily News article, McCready simply responded, “I cannot refute anything in the story,” and she later revealed on television that their extramarital affair had lasted over a decade. Since the McCready story, there have been several other reports of Clemens cheating on his wife with other women, including golfer John Daly’s wife.
Vanessa Perroncel played mistress to at least five soccer players, including Wayne Bridge, Adrian Mutu, Aidur Gudjohnsen, and former England national team captain John Terry, who, at the time of the four-month affair, was two years into a marriage. Also at the time of the relationship, Perroncel was dating Bridge, Terry’s Chelsea/England teammate.
Perroncel denied the affair, but nevertheless the consequences of the story were felt, as Terry was stripped of his title as team captain and Bridge was shipped off to Man. City. The two players faced each other in a match for the first time not long after the scandal broke. Bridge would have the last laugh, as he snubbed Terry in the pre-game handshakes and his team won 4-2.
Just as Duncan Keith’s career on the ice was reaching a high point, his life off of it was reaching a low. Not long after leading his Chicago Blackhawks to a Stanley Cup championship, he became embroiled in a bitter divorce with longtime partner Kelly-Rae, who is rumored to have cheated on him with teammate Patrick Sharp.
Duncan, however, denied the rumors, saying in a statement to The Chicago Tribune:
I know there was a lot of talk throughout the year regarding Sharpie and that was all a complete fabrication as well. My divorce had nothing to do with anything except what was between me and Kelly-Rae, and that’s where I’d like to keep it.
I’m not sure you can call this one an affair so much as an embarrassing incident of unrequited love. While married to Deanna Tynes, Jets quarterback Brett Favre put his heart (and other bodily organs) on full display in 2008 when he sent lewd pictures of himself to Jets gameday host and all-around football hottie Jenn Sterger.
She, for some bizarre reason, was not won over by his plea for affection and failed to return the gesture, turning what could have been a case of “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours” into a case of “I’ll show you mine and then the league will investigate me to see whether or not I violated the NFL’s personal conduct policy.” It’s a tale as old as time itself.
Back in 2009, a Philadelphia blogger started a rumor that Flyers forward Jeff Carter had slept with his teammate Scott Hartnell’s wife, Lisa Renneke. The rumors were largely discredited, with Hartnell saying, “I don’t know how they dreamed those stories up,” and Carter adding that it made him look “like an idiot.” But that didn’t stop people from speculating, especially not after Hartnell and Renneke went through a bitter divorce.
Cheating was the least of Hartnell's relationship problems, however, as he told the Philadelphia Inquirer in 2012 that by the end of their marriage Renneke suddenly switched and called him "every bad name under the sun." He also says he lost a lot of his hard-earned money in the divorce.
Former Chelsea and Team England left-back Ashley Cole had one of the weakest—and strangest—excuses when he was caught sending nude photos to glamor model Sonia Wild. He didn’t deny that the pictures were of him; instead, he claimed that he had simply intended to send them to a male friend. You know how guys like to share nude pictures of themselves with one another, just to make sure that there aren’t any suspicious looking moles on their bodies.
Once a cheater, always a cheater, because the 2010 Sonia Wild scandal came just two years after another string of mistresses nearly ended his marriage with singer Cheryl Tweedy.
Sundy Carter, who appeared on seasons 2,3, and 4 of Basketball Wives: LA, claimed she had no idea that her boyfriend, NBA player Larry Hughes, was married with four children while they were dating. I guess she just thought that the woman and the four kids who always hung around his house were his maids or something. Honest mistake.
Hughes and Carter, who dated for several years, had a child of their own in 2007, which he initially refused to accept as his own until the court-ordered paternity test came back. His wife, Carrie, on the other hand, wasn’t so quick to acquiesce to the test results, insisting that the child was not his.
Is it just us or does it seem like Tiger Woods slept with a lot of women? Heck, we even managed to put together a list of the top 13 hottest Woods mistresses. Coming in at number three on that list was Jaimee Grubbs, an LA waitress who allegedly carried on a two and a half year tryst with the former top golfer.
Grubbs was no saint herself. During much of their affair, she was apparently in a relationship with another guy, which kind of makes you feel less guilty about the fact that he had been deceiving her all along, telling her, according to text messages acquired by the New York Post, that “we will always be together.”
Brandon Prust and his girlfriend Maripier Morin, a Quebec TV personality, have been dating since 2010 and were the focus of the W Network reality show Hockey Wives. As playerwives.com notes, their relationship hasn’t always been smooth sailing. In 2011, Prust was caught cozying up to actress Michelle Trachtenberg, who’s famous for her roles in Harriet the Spy, Eurotrip, and the television series Gossip Girl. Apparently it wasn’t an isolated incident, either. One source told the New York Post’s gossip section Page Six that the former Canadiens tough guy “makes out with other girls all the time, like all the time.”
The alleged affair appears not to have hampered his relationship too much, however, as he and Morin got engaged on July 22, 2015.
Dwyane Wade’s affair with Lauren London was revealed by none other than his teammate, and serial philanderer, Shaquille O’Neal, who leaked the news to a senior writer at Newsweek. Talk about a bad teammate.
London is an actress and model who has appeared in shows such as Entourage, 90210, and The Game. She has also starred in music videos for Pharrell, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Ne-Yo, T.I., and Snoop Dogg.
Before hooking up with Wade, she was in a lengthy relationship with rapper Lil Wayne, with whom she has a child. The two were engaged for a brief period of time, but he ultimately called it off and later ended the relationship.
Of course one of Tiger Woods’s mistresses was an adult film star.
Joslyn James—who starred in such classics as Bikini Time Machine, Modern MILFS 2, and The 11th Hole, which was inspired by her affair with Tiger—shared text messages from her time with Woods that were pretty graphic, revealing the kinky side of the golfer. James, whose real name is Veronica Siwik-Daniels, also revealed that Woods had the potential to get aggressive at times, with one message reading, “I want to treat you rough. Throw you around, spank and slap you.” That kind of behavior would probably be frowned upon at The Masters.
Another one of Kobe’s mistresses. This time it’s Carla DiBello, a producer for Kourtney and Kim Take New York and friend of reality star Kim Kardashian. Their relationship is believed to have taken place in 2011, not long after Kobe and his wife Vanessa split up following rumors of his infidelity. According to RadarOnline, the two had been seeing each other for nearly two years before the seperation.
DiBello is a celebrity in her own right, with nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram. She is an associate producer at Bunim/Murray Productions, who are to blame for—I mean responsible for—all the Kardashian reality shows, and she is believed to have become friends with Mrs. Kanye West during filming.
Vanessa Lopez was Shaquille O’Neal’s mistress number… well, who can keep count. Let’s just say there’ve been a lot.
This one, however, wasn’t solely Shaq’s fault, as Lopez was known for being something of a basketball gym rat, having already been linked to J.J. Reddick, Delonte West, and Kenyon Martin (Martin accused her of stealing his credit card).
Like many of his affairs, this one did not end well, as Lopez accused O’Neal of “launch[ing] a campaign to harass her and make her fear for her safety.” These allegations, however, were shut down in court, with the judge essentially calling her a liar and saying she “demonstrated an utter disrespect for the system of justice.”
No wonder Martin her called the “worst one-night stand ever.”
Before Tom Brady and his wife Gisele Bundchen were the “it” couple of the NFL, they were the secret couple of the NFL. In 2006, Brady left his girlfriend of three years—actress Bridget Moynahan, who also happened to be pregnant at the time—for Bundchen.
It’s unclear if the Patriots quarterback actually cheated on Moynahan, but given how fast he moved on to the Brazilian supermodel, it’s safe to assume that the two relationships overlapped.
To their credit, the super couple of Brady and Bundchen has been going strong ever since. They married in 2009 and have two children together. Moynahan also took the high road, claiming that, despite the way things went down, she still has a relationship with them for the sake of her child.
Lauren London isn’t the only mistress Dwyane Wade’s had. His current wife, Gabrielle Union, began as his side chick. They started dating in 2009, a year before he and his wife Siohvaughn Funches divorced (they separated in 2007, however).
Union, who was named one of People’s most beautiful women in 2015, is an actress, famous for her roles in such films as Bad Boys II, Bring it On, Think Like a Man, and The Birth of a Nation. She and Wade separated for a while in 2013, at which time he hooked up with another girlfriend and had a child, but the two soon got back together and have been married since 2014.
For some men, it’s not enough to be married to a beautiful, successful woman—they have to have more. That appeared to be the case with famed English footballer David Beckham, who allegedly cheated on his wife, Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, with Rebecca Loos, his former personal assistant (that’s why you don’t hire a smoking hot assistant).
Loos isn’t the only woman who claims to have slept with the former Manchester United midfielder. A week after the first story broke, Australian model Sarah Marbeck came forward with a similar story. He denied both women’s allegations, calling them “ludicrous.”
In a recent article in the Daily Mail, Loos says that she has no regrets about her fling with Becks. No word on whether or not he or his wife feel the same way.
Of all the women named in the Tiger Woods cheating scandal, none received as much attention as Rachel Uchitel. And it’s easy to see why—she’s an absolute knockout (or perhaps “hole in one” would be a more fitting sports metaphor, for more than one reason).
Uchitel remained in the public eye after her alleged relationship with Woods due to another affair with actor David Boreanaz. During an interview with TMZ, she described herself as “the most famous mistress on the planet,” and, given her dating history, she just might be right.
Putting her mistress ways behind her, she got married in 2011 to Matt Hahn, a former Penn State football player.
There seems to be a theme here when it comes to baseball players. All those who’ve had scandals involving mistresses have also had scandals involving steroids. Apparently cheating is addictive.
And when it comes to steroid scandals, no one is more famous than Barry Bonds, who may or may not have used performance-enhancing drugs to break home run records (he did), just like he may or may not have cheated on his wife with Kimberly Bell (he did).
Their relationship reportedly lasted nearly a decade, during which time he went through two marriages. In 2011, roughly eight years after they had split, she testified against Bonds at his perjury trial, claiming his years of steroid abuse had left him with “shrunken testicles, acne, bloating, hair loss and impotence.”
Current Ducks assistant captain Ryan Kesler (allegedly) fulfilled every man’s dream when he (allegedly) hooked up with Pamela Anderson while he was still playing with the Canucks. We emphasize allegedly because the affair has neither been confirmed nor denied, but according to sports gossip site terezowens.com, the two were spotted together on several occasions at a club in Vancouver “performing some questionable activities in public.”
While we commend Kesler for nabbing one of the most coveted women in the world, we’re not so sure his wife and mother of three children would be as quick to congratulate him for swapping spit with the former Playboy Playmate of the Month.
Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber probably wished that he could switch places with his identical twin brother Ronde when news broke of his affair. After more than a decade of marriage, Tiki and his wife Virginia Cha called it quits following the revelation that Barber had cheated on her with Traci Lynn Johnson, a 23-year-old intern he’d met while working at NBC. To make matters worse, Cha was seven months pregnant with twin daughters at the time. To make matters much, much worse, he then went on to use a questionable metaphor to describe how he and Johnson would hook up in his agent’s attic so as not to be caught, telling Sports Illustrated, “[He’s] Jewish, and it was like a reverse Anne Frank thing.”
You’ve got to give it to Shaq—his morals might be questionable, but his choice in women certainly isn’t. Take for example Dominica Westling, a Swedish actress, model, and nanny (to the luckiest kid in the world) who he is believed to have dated (i.e. exchanged x-rated emails and engaged in cybersex) for roughly 18 months while still married to his wife Shaunie O’Neal (that poor woman). Neither confirmed the relationship, but when pressed about it, the former Laker center gave perhaps the most telling non-answer possible: “No comment.”
Shaq pulled down over 13,000 rebounds in his career, but by far his most impressive grab was Westling.
Although she strongly denied the rumors, once going on a twitter rant in response to a story put out by TMZ, Jessica Burciaga’s name often comes up in relation to Kobe’s infidelities. And where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Burciaga was discovered while working at Hooters, and soon after her face (and amazing body) was gracing the pages of magazines like Maxim, Stuff, and, of course, Playboy (she was Miss February 2009). Thanks in part to her fifteen minutes of fame in 2011, she now has a considerable online fan base, with over 1.5 million followers on Instagram.
Regardless of whether or not the cheating rumors were true, Burciaga was one of the hottest women linked to the future Hall of Famer.
Infidelity is never a good thing, but sometimes the ends justify the means. One such example is Al Horford’s relationship with Amelia Vega. What began as a simple affair between the 4-time NBA All-Star and the 2003 Miss Universe winner (I don’t think we need to tell you which was which) turned into a full-fledged union, as the two were married in 2011 and have been together ever since, with one child and another on the way.
At 18 years of age, Vega became the youngest Miss Universe winner ever and the first from the Dominican Republic (Horford's home country, as well). She has since worked as a model, appearing on the cover of magazines such as Cosmopolitan, InStyle, and Glamour.
