Inked: 15 Female Athletes With Amazing Tattoos

It may be hard to believe, but there is historical evidence which shows that human beings have been getting inked as far back as the 4th millennium BC. The oldest tattoo ever was discovered on human skin that belonged to a body that scientist referred to as "Otzi the Iceman" – who lived sometime around 3100 BC.

While tattoos as an art form have come a long way since Otzi’s time, we have also seen a shift in how they are perceived. At one point time – in the not so distant past – tats where often associated with outlaws or those who live on the fringes of society. However, these days, it isn’t unusual to see white-collar professionals and even corporate executives sporting some ink.

Another field where we have seen a growing number of tattoos is professional sports. Many of the most famous athletes in the world proudly flaunt some impressive body art, while competing at the highest level. What may surprise some folks (albeit fewer than it would have in years past) is that many of these athletes are female.

These women are some of the most highly regarded athletes in their respective sports and in many cases are also considered to be among the most beautiful.

Now it’s time to take a look at 15 female athletes with some the best tattoos on the planet.
