On Tuesday's edition of SmackDown Live, Kevin Owens ended the night be turning on Kofi Kingston and the New Day to focus on WWE Championship.

Last week, Owens became an honorary member of New Day while Big E was out with an injury. Passing a series of fun tests, Owens had the crowd in the palm of his hands and everyone loved the fact that New Day had a fill in who was willing to make a fool of himself, eat pancakes, perform New Day's intro and help play the role of heavy in Big E's absence.

The partnership didn't last.

On this week's SmackDown Live, Owens turned on Kofi during his match with Shinsuke Nakamura, choosing Fight Owens Fight over the New Day. His end goal was to target Kofi's WWE Championship and it looks like Owens will become the No. 1 challenger, likely taking on Kofi at Money in the Bank on May 19, 2019.

On social media, WWE posted a photo of Owens standing over Kingston and holding the WWE Title. He said, "I hope you had a good time, 'cause I'm coming for this! FightOwensFight's intentions are clear."

What This Means

Chances are, Owens will address New Day and the WWE Universe next week and suggest that he always wanted the title and it was not about making friends. He'll probably brag about how easy it was to get inside and infiltrate the group.

He'd be right.

Owens getting inside the heads of Xavier Woods, Kofi, and the fans was all too easy. Eating a few pancakes was all it took for fans to love the idea he was now part of the group. That said, the WWE Universe should have known better.

Owens has never been the kind of WWE Superstar you can trust and on Tuesday, he proved that fact once again.
