The world of women’s professional tennis is seemingly dominated by giants. It isn’t uncommon to find women who are at least 5-foot-10 competing on the WTA Women’s Tour. However, despite being roughly 7-inches shorter than the average female tennis pro, 5-foot-3 Slovak sensation Dominika Cibulkova has still managed to be ranked as high as number 4 in the world.

Bratislava, Slovakia’s Dominika Cibulkova has established herself as one of the top singles players in all of women’s tennis. The undersized superstar has made it to at least the quarterfinals in all 4 major Grand Slam tournaments. Cibulkova made history back in 2014, by becoming the first female Slovak player to reach the final round of a Grand Slam at the Australian Open. The 28-year-old has also managed to take home almost $12 million in prize money over the course of her career thus far.

In 2008, she won the Indy Japan 300, which made her the first woman to win an IndyCar Series race. Aly Raisman was the team captain of United States Olympic gymnastics teams in both 2012 and 2016, both of which took home (team) gold medals. In the 2012 games, Raisman captured an individual gold medal for the floor exercise and bronze for her efforts on the balance beam. She would return in 2016 and capture silver medals in both the all-around and the floor exercise. One of these ladies is “The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson. The strawweight fighter stands at 5-foot-3 and competes in the UFC’s 115-pound weight division.

Michelle Waterson is a member of the famed Jackson Wink MMA Academy; a team that has produced such stars as Holly Holm and Jon Jones. Waterson is currently the Ulitmate Fighting Championship’s number 6 ranked strawweight contender. The Karate Hottie holds victories over top fighters like Jessica Penne and Paige VanZant. The brunette beauty is also a former Invicta FC Atomweight (105 pounds) Champion. The 31-year-old ‘s ability and marketable appearance have helped make her a star in the UFC.

Pro wrestling is a sport full of larger than life athletes both literally and figuratively. Even the women who step inside the squared circle tend to be well over average size. That being said, one of the top females in the industry, Alexa Bliss, stands at just 5-foot-1 and weighs about 102 pounds. Keep in mind, pro wrestling has a history of embellishing their athlete’s measurements, to make them seem larger, so there’s a chance she may even shorter than the "official" measurement.

Hailing from Columbus, Ohio, WWE’s current Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss has made quite a name for herself. She is the first female to hold both the SmackDown and Raw Women’s titles. Despite the fact that she has only been a member of WWE’s main roster since 2016, Bliss is already a 4-time world champ.

One such competitor is strawweight contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz, aka the “Polish Princess.” The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s #2 ranked strawweight is listed at 5-foot-3.

Born in Lodz, Poland Karolina Kowalkiewicz began training in Krav Maga when she was just 16 years of age. She would later begin training in muay thai before entering the world of mixed martial arts. Kowalkiewicz had only 2 amateur fights before turning pro. As a professional, the Polish star won her first 10 pro fights defeating top UFC fighters like Randa Markos and Rose Namajunas along the way. She would suffer her first loss at in a title fight against current UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion, Jonna Jedrzejczyk.


10 McKayla Maroney


Gymnastics is one of the few sports that is dominated by shorter women. Standing at just 5-foot-3, Long Beach, California native McKayla Maroney is certainly no exception to that rule. The former Olympic standout became an internet sensation following the 2012 Summer Olympics.

21-year-old retired gymnast McKayla Maroney was a member of the 2012 US Olympic gymnastics team known as the Fierce Five. Maroney performed well at the games and was able to capture a silver medal in the vault even, which in turn, helped her and the rest Fierce Five capture team gold. However, Maroney is probably best known for “not impressed” facial expression, which she made during the silver medal ceremony. The expression became something an internet phenomenon and was used in countless internet memes.

Originally from Miami, Florida, Cristine Kerr turned pro back in 1996. The golfing champ has won 2 major championships (the Women’s PGA Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open) on the LPGA Tour and has 19 wins overall. Kerr was also the number 1 ranked female golfer for 3 time periods in 2010. She has managed to take home over $15 million in earnings over the course of her career thus far. Folks may also recognize Kerr from her appearance on Donald Trump’s television series, known as The Apprentice.

6 Camille Leblanc-Bazinet

Canadian CrossFit Games athlete Camile Leblanc-Bazinet might very well be the strongest woman on our list. While her muscular physique may make her look taller, Leblanc-Bazinet is only 5-foot-2.  She may not be the tallest CrossFit competitor but, she has a great deal of success in her career thus far.

Richelieu, Quebec, Canada’s Camile Leblanc-Bazinet is best known for winning the 2014 CrossFit Games. The brunette was also a national championship caliber weightlifter in her home country of Canada. Bazinet first got into CrossFit after a man at party informed her that she wasn’t in shape, which seems very hard to imagine after seeing this photo. She is married to another CrossFit athlete by the name of Dave Lipson. When she isn’t training, Bazinet is studying to become a Chemical Engineer at the Universite de Sherbrooke.

5 Madison Kocian

Madison Kocian is one of many pint-sized beauties from the sport of professional gymnastics. The Olympian is listed at 5-foot-2 and weighs roughly 101 pounds, thus making her the smallest gymnast on our list, and at just 20 years of age, she also has the distinction of being the youngest.

Originally from Dallas, Texas, Madison Kocian had an excellent showing at the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio de Janeiro, as a member of the United States team dubbed the “Final Five.” Kocian earned 2 medals in Rio; a team gold and silver on the uneven bar. Outside the Olympics, she was the 2015 world champion on the uneven bars. Given her relatively young age, an appearance at the 2020 Summer Olympic Games certainly wouldn’t be out of the question.

4 Madison Rayne


Profesional wrestler Madison Rayne has the distinction of being the only sports entertainer on our list who hasn’t wrestled for World Wrestling Entertainment. That being said, the 5-foot-3 starlet made quite a named for herself in TNA (now Global Force) Wrestling over the last several years.

Madison Rayne is probably best known for being a part of the villainous wrestling faction known as The Beautiful People, alongside stars  such as Angelina Love and Velvet Sky with whom she held the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championship. Rayne also won the TNA Knockouts Championship on 5 separate occasions as a singles competitor. She recently left Global Force Wrestling in July of 2017. On October 13th, reports surfaced that she was trying out with WWE at their performance center in Orlando, Florida.

3 Amanda Loy

Weighing just 72 pounds and standing at even 4-feet tall, Fitness competitor Amanda Loy has the distinction of being the shortest athlete on our list, proving the previously mentioned cliché “good things come in small packages.” Fans of reality television may also recognize Loy as a cast member on the Lifetime reality series Little Women: Dallas.

National Physique Committee figures competitor Amanda Loy made history by becoming the first female little person to compete in NPC events. After leaving school at just 18 years of age, Loy entered the fitness world while working as a bartender. Outside of bodybuilding contests, she has also been known to compete in bikini competitions. The 28-year-old can now add reality television star to her resume, after being featured on Little Women: Dallas.

2 Amanda Bobby Cooper


Ultimate Fighting Championship competitor Amanda Bobby Cooper is a 115 pound mixed martial artist. The vivacious blonde strawweight stands at just 5-foot-3, but still, manages to pack quite a punch. The 25-year-old is an outstanding prospect in the UFC’s women’s division.

Bath, Michigan’s Amanda Bobby Cooper has had just 5 fights as a professional MMA competitor thus far. While her record stands at just 2-3, all three of her losses have been at the hands of quality fighters such as Cynthia Calvillo, Tatiana Suarez, and Aspen Ladd. Cooper is probably best known for her appearance on the MMA reality series: The Ultimate Fighter: Team Joanna vs. Team Claudia. During her season on the show, she defeated Jamie Moyle and Lanchana Green in exhibition bouts, before ultimately losing to Tatinia Suarez in the final round of the tournament.
