WWE.com dropped huge news by announcing that Kurt Angle will replace Roman Reigns in the main event at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs pay-per-view event this Sunday. Instead of The Shield's reunion, it'll be Angle, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose facing The Miz, Cesaro, Sheamus, Kane, and Braun Strowman. The match will mark Angle's first in WWE since 2006.

The official website claimed the change was "due to medical issues", and also had to pull Bray Wyatt from his match with Finn Balor. Instead, A.J. Styles will face The Demon King himself.

Though Angle offers an intriguing return to the ring, We're not so sure it makes sense to put him with The Shield. Truth be told, there are a handful of wrestlers that would have been better options.

Here are five Superstars that should have been added to The Shield than Kurt Angle.

5. Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho had one of his best runs with the WWE by teaming up with Kevin Owens while introducing "The List of Jericho." He helped put guys like AJ Styles, Roman Reigns, and Owens over, before recently departing to go back to Fozzy.

But Jericho would have been a great addition with The Shield. He's always been at his best when aligned with someone. If The Miz has Kane on its side, wouldn't it make sense for Shield to have a future WWE Hall of Famer on theirs?

Jericho still has the skills to put on great matches and has a long history of epic ladder bouts. Fans never get enough of Jericho, and it's too bad they missed out on a chance to bring him back at such an opportune time.

4. Finn Balor

Truth be told, WWE should have just canceled Balor's singles match altogether for Sunday. With Bray Wyatt needing to be pulled due to meningitis, we're not seeing how his bout with AJ Styles does anything in storyline for either character.

It would have made more sense to put Balor on The Shield for many reasons. He's already one of the company's most gifted all-around performers and has gotten over with his high-flying style, which involves dangerous stuns.

Balor is the kind of guy to have in a TLC match. It would have also given him the chance to feud with a guy like Stroman or Miz down the road. After his match with Styles, Balor's direction will be unclear.

3. Shinsuke Nakamura

Nakamura already looks somewhat lost in the SmackDown card, which is a disservice by the creative team. He defeated John Cena and Randy Orton, before losing momentum by falling to Jinder Mahal in a pair of title matches. With Mahal now feuding with Brock Lesnar, Nakamura is slowly falling out of the main event picture.

This would have been a great chance for Nakamura to team with The Shield. He's arguably the best in-ring performer, and his wrestling style fits exactly what you want in a TLC match.

As the case could have been with Balor, Nakamura would have the chance to feud with another guy from Team Miz. But like Balor, he's going to be stuck in no man's land. This was a great opportunity to put Nakamura back in prime position as a main event performer.

2. Jason Jordan

Despite being introduced as Kurt Angle's son in storyline, Jason Jordan had troubles getting over with the crowd. He's an extreme talent in the ring, but the mid-card level and lack of mic skills haven't helped Jordan build up his character.

Well, having Jordan team up with The Shield could have changed everything. He's an extremely good all-around wrestler and could have easily gotten over if he helped them win this match.

To build up his character more, Jordan needs to beat some of the elite competition. With five prime performers against The Shield, Jordan could have done just that. But it looks like WWE will continue to be lost with its direction of this young star.

1. Kevin Owens

Owens has been the star of WWE since winning the Universal Championship over a year ago. He's defeated elite talents in Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, John Cena, and most recently Shane McMahon.

There are already rumors about Owens going back to Raw anyway, so putting him with The Shield could have set it up perfectly in storyline. The possibilities could have been endless. Maybe Owens helps Shield win and finally turns babyface? Perhaps he backstabs The Shield and feuds with them? Or simply puts on one great match then goes back to SmackDown

Owens is on cloud nine right now. He's arguably the top superstar right on SmackDown Live, and has all the momentum going for him. This TLC match with The Shield would build him up even more and set up K.O. for another great feud.
