Steph & Dell Curry Move Into 2nd Place All-Time NBA Father/Son Scoring List

Steph Curry has dominated the NBA for years now, and because of that, he and his father Dell landed in second place in father/son scoring.

Dell Curry hasn't played a game in the NBA since 2002, but last night he moved up in the rankings of an NBA record. After last nights game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns Dell, along with his son, Stephen Curry, are now in second place on the all-time father/son NBA scoring list.

The younger Curry scored 29 points in his team's 123-103 victory Monday night, and in so doing pushed him and his dad ahead of Dolph and Danny Schayes and into second place. The Schayes' scored a total of 27,218 points in their careers and the Currys now stand at 27,226 points as a duo.

Steph hit six three-pointers in the game and after the high-scoring win ESPN quotes Curry noticing the scoring explosion all over the NBA this season:

"I just notice the points. You look at the [Lakers/Spurs] game we were just watching, it's 140 to whatever, so I don't know if that's the way it's officiated or teams stacking rosters with faster, more versatile guys for more consistent parts of the game, I really don't know exactly what the cause is, but it's great for the offensive-minded guys."

So, with the Curry's sitting in the number two spot on the list, they only have one more father/son combo to pass in order to have the record. And who is that duo? None other than Kobe Bryant and his dad Joe. Which might surprise some fans who didn't even know that the Black Mamba's father even played in the NBA.

Looking at the Currys and the Bryants though, there is one pretty big difference in how the points are dispersed between the fathers and sons. While both son's have far surpassed their dad's scoring totals, Dell is a much bigger part of his and Steph's total than Joe is with Kobe.

Of the 38,895 points scored by the Bryant's, only 5,252 points were contributed by Joe. Whereas, Dell scored 12,670 points in his career in the league — which is more than double that of the elder Bryant. And the way that Curry has been scoring over the last many years, it seems a no-brainer that it is just a matter of time before he puts him and his dad atop the list.
