The Kentucky Derby Bans Selfie Sticks

On May 2nd the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby will take place at Churchill Downs. There will be over 100,000 people there, Mint Juleps and of course the horses. But one thing that you won't see at the track are selfie sticks.

Yup, if you want a picture of yourself at Churchill Downs taken from farther away then the length of your arm then you are just going to have to have someone else take it.

John Asher, the track spokesman, says that the reason for the selfie stick ban is as a safety measure to protect the horses and the massive crowd. But honestly, aren't those ridiculously large hats that the women wear a bigger safety issue than some selfie sticks?
