One may not be exaggerating the point were he to suggest that we cannot go a single day without some member of the Kardashian family being mentioned in headlines of a news website or of an entertainment blog. That has especially been the case in February 2016 thanks to FX television program The People vs. O.J. Simpson, a show that has, four episodes in, featured Robert Kardashian on every episode and one that has shown younger versions of the Kardashian children. Those children are, of course, now all grown up and capable of generating headlines and money all on their own.

One of the gimmicks, if one were to use such a description, of the Kardashian clan has been to date famous professional athletes. Multiple members of the Kardashian family have even married athletes. Those relationships have not worked out all that well, although one is apparently technically still going as of the posting of this piece. One has to wonder if that relationship that was supposedly dead and buried in 2015 will be restored after the non-Kardashian member of the couple nearly lost his life after he spiraled out of control. That incident may prove to be the best thing to ever happen to that man, but that's a different matter for a different piece.

It would be reasonable that one would immediately look at the daughters when thinking of Kardashians who have dated and even married athletes. Do not forget, though, that the process all goes back to the woman who serves as the matriarch of the family. The athlete involved in that relationship has gone through quite the evolution over the years, so much so that somebody who saw that athlete when he was running in the Olympics may not recognize the individual today. Say whatever you will about the Kardashian family: Keeping up with them is not boring, and it is a daily commitment.

12 12. Rick Fox

It was back in the spring of 2015 when Khloe Kardashian was, per Us Weekly and other websites, spotted out on a date with former NBA player Rick Fox. Nothing much apparently came from that date or from subsequent meetings, as Kardashian was soon linked with a different athlete who is currently a NBA star. Since retiring as a player, Fox has worked as an analyst and as an actor. In January 2016, ESPN produced an article about Fox creating Echo Fox of the League of Legends Championship Series of eSports fame. There is, in fact, truth in those stories of pro athletes loving video games.

11 11. Rashad McCants

Rashad McCants was playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008 when he and Khloe Kardashian began dating. The story that played out on an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians is that Khloe found out, via a little snooping, that McCants was not being faithful to her. This, understandably, ended the relationship. McCants last played in the NBA in 2010, and he attempted to keep his playing career alive overseas. He signed for Trotamundos de Carabobo out of Venezuela in 2015. McCants, who turned 31-years-old in 2015, is, as of the end of February 2016, a free agent.

10 10. Miles Austin

NFL wide receiver Miles Austin was playing for the Dallas Cowboys when he was linked with Kim Kardashian in 2010. This relationship occurred after Kardashian had broken up with a different NFL player – a running back, more specifically. Kardashian and Austin reportedly split because of the hardships that come with being in a long-distance relationship. Since parting ways with Kardashian and the Cowboys, Austin has played for the Cleveland Browns and most recently the Philadelphia Eagles. Austin, who married his college sweetheart in March 2014, is expected to be a free agent in March 2016. The 31-year-old should be able to find a NFL home if he wants one, though likely as a depth receiver.

9 9. Derrick Ward

Derrick Ward first made a name for himself while playing for the New York Giants as part of a backfield that included Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw. Right about the time when Ward was making a move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he was reportedly seeing Khloe Kardashian for a time. Ward was allegedly Kardashian's final boyfriend before she married an NBA star. The running back last played for the Houston Texans and he retired from the NFL in the summer of 2012. We'll always remember Ward for being part of the “Earth, Wind and Fire” backfield in New York.

8 8. Cristiano Ronaldo

You can put this rumor in the “where this smoke, there is fire” category. Multiple outlets, including US Weekly, reported in April 2010 that Kim Kardashian and Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a fling after Kardashian broke up with a NFL running back. Whatever happened between the two, Kardashian and Ronaldo did not maintain a long relationship. Ronaldo has done just fine for himself since, dating multiple supermodels and being one of the highest-paid athletes in all of the world. Ronaldo, who is in the twilight of his prime, is still playing for Real Madrid as of now, but that could change if he fancies a move to Major League Soccer in the near future.

7 7. Matt Kemp

It is known that Khloe Kardashian wanted to split from her husband, a famous basketball player, in 2013 when she was reportedly dating Major League Baseball player Matt Kemp. According to stories posted on websites such as Hollywood Life, Kardashian was advised to cool things off with Kemp because of her relationship with the NBA player. Kemp, according to TMZ, later claimed that he and Kardashian were just friends. The outfielder was part of a surprising deal in December 2014 when the Los Angeles Dodgers dealt him to the San Diego Padres. Kemp is expected to be in the San Diego starting lineup this coming spring.

6 6. Alecko Eskandarian

And some of you might have thought, before this piece, that Major League Soccer players weren't “stars.” Alecko Eskandarian played for several MLS clubs during his career, the last of which was the LA Galaxy. We know, thanks to an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, that Eskandarian went on blind date with none other than Kim Kardashian. No long-term romance stemmed from that date. Eskandarian is now a retired player who serves as an assistant coach for North American Soccer League side New York Cosmos. He is also the head coach for the New York reserve team.

5 5. James Harden

It is a relationship that has, per the tabloids, gone through quite the twists and turns over the past year. NBA superstar James Harden and Khloe Kardashian began dating in the summer of 2015 when Khloe was estranged from her husband, a different NBA player (more on that later). Harden and Kardashian reportedly split up in January 2016. Khloe claimed in February 2016 that Harden was “not committed” to the relationship, hinting that Harden had cheated on her. Harden has played for the Houston Rockets for the past several seasons, although his name could come up in trade rumors during the summer months.

4 4. Reggie Bush

The relationship involving NFL running back Reggie Bush and Kim Kardashian was one that oddly seemed to be strong enough to last for the long haul. That was not the case, of course, but Bush then raised the eyes of some when he married a woman named Lilit Avagyan. Avagyan has, at times, looked very similar to Ms. Kardashian, leading some to believe that Bush may have never gotten over his former love. Bush last played for the San Francisco 49ers, but there are whispers heading into the 2016 offseason that his playing days may be up because he is no longer the great athlete of old.

3 3. Lamar Odom

Lamar Odom, already a star among sports fans because of his NBA career, became a reality television personality in September 2009 when he married Khloe Kardashian. Odom is no longer in the NBA, however, and he may be lucky to even be alive. The famous athlete was found unconscious inside of a Nevada brothel in October 2015, and it was feared, at the time, that he may pass away while in a coma. While Odom and Kardashian has split late in 2013, the divorce had not been finalized before Odom's life-changing incident. The two are still a couple in the eyes of the law as of the posting of this piece.

2 2. Kris Humphries

It does not seem like it was all that long ago that Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were strolling into Hoboken establishment the Village Pourhouse when Kris was playing for the New Jersey Nets. Those two crazy kids were married in August 2011, but we would learn that this would not be a love that would last for years. The two split after just 72 days, and Humphries alleged that December that their marriage was a “fraud” and a publicity stunt. Life is still alright for Humphries, as he continues to play in the NBA. Humphries is signed to the Phoenix Suns as of February 2016.

1 1. Bruce Jenner

Bruce Jenner was the first athlete to date a Kardashian – although Kris was technically no longer a Kardashian following her divorce from Robert Kardashian. Jenner, the Olympic champion and reality television personality, is now known as Caitlyn Jenner after she came out as a transgender woman in 2015. Since doing so, Caitlyn has conducted interviews, been the feature woman on a reality TV show, and she has been honored by institutions such as ESPN for her bravery. You can expect to see even more of Caitlyn throughout 2016 and for the foreseeable future, as there is no reason to believe that she will not continue to be a public figure.
