The word “butterface” has gained popularity in recent years. The term refers to a female who has a nice body, except for her (but her = butter) face. Beauty is subjective. It is, as they say, in the eye of the beholder. What one person deems to be beautiful might be considered repulsive in another person’s mind. The opposite is true as well. It is important to remember that physical beauty is a superficial quality. So many people are judged by their looks with no thought given to what lies beyond their appearance.
There are good looking people in all walks of life. There also exists the opposite. Fortunately, most people live outside of the limelight and don’t have their looks scrutinized by the masses in the same way that those in the spotlight do. Professional athletes are generally blessed with talents that can’t be learned. They still have to work hard at what they do and they need to show a lot of dedication in order to keep themselves in proper form. Talent can only take them so far.
Lesser attractive athletes, despite their abilities, are often the subject of ridicule. The internet is full of articles that mock these people. Those athletes shouldn’t care though. Their talents are in sports, not in the beauty pageant circuit. Looks can definitely open up doors for athletes. Good looking athletes are more likely to get into modelling, fashion and on television as sports-casters and analysts. For those who aren’t blessed with good looks, well, they may find it a little more challenging to follow these pursuits when their playing days are over, but at least these 15 athletes will still have rocking bodies that they can flaunt.

1 1. Iya Gavrilova
A member of the Russian women’s national hockey team and a member of the CIS women’s league, Iya Gavrilova continues to build a solid career on the ice. She has competed in three Winter Olympics and has had many successes. She is establishing herself as one of the premiere forwards in women’s hockey. She wears the number 8, just like another Russian superstar by the name of Alex Ovechkin. She is almost like the Alex Ovechkin of women’s hockey. She even bears a striking resemblance to Alex Ovechkin from the neck up but from the neck down she is quite striking. Her 5’8” frame is quite pleasing to the eye. It’s a shame she has to hide her figure underneath all that cumbersome and bulky hockey gear.
