Remember when Eric Bischoff was the executive director of SmackDown for four months back in 2019? Because the man himself certainly does ... although by the sounds of it, he'd prefer to forget that period of his career.

During a chat with Renee Paquette on a recent episode of her Oral Sessions podcast, Bischoff discussed what it was like to attend production meetings while he was working on WWE programming.

"My first visceral reaction was, 'this is a fucking waste of a lot of time.' You do not need all of those people in one large meeting," Bischoff said. "When you're going through a format, I don't give a shit. I don't need to know when a graphic is going to hit. The guys in the truck need to know that. They should have their own production meeting," he added.

Bischoff recalled having to sit through lengthy meetings on an empty stomach while Triple H and Vince McMahon ate steak and sushi during the meeting and spoke of his frustration that almost everything that was decided in the meetings was changed mere moments before the shows were due to kick off.

"There were times like 15 minutes before the show and we're re-writing scenes," Bischoff said. Renee, a former WWE employee herself, confirmed Bischoff's claims regarding the shows being re-written at the last minute.

The former WCW boss then said that despite his frustrations, he's actually grateful for the experience.

"I know it sounds like I'm slamming them, but I'm not, I'm telling the truth. You asked how it made me feel, I don't know how it made everyone else feel, they may have dug it and felt it was valuable, I'm just telling you from my perspective," he said, before adding that he would implement changes to the routine if he were in charge. "First thing I would do is change the meeting format because we're wasting tons of time, but it's working for them. It's a tough formula for people to adapt to and tough for someone like me because of the way I think and prefer to work and it's tough on talent, but it's working," he said.

Bischoff parted ways with WWE in October of 2019 when he was replaced as executive director of SmackDown by Bruce Prichard. Bischoff was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame earlier this year.
