The wrestling career of Stacy Keibler doesn’t get talked about enough for someone that was among the most popular female performers for her entire stint. WCW was the company that first discovered Stacy when joining through a Nitro Girl search contest. Good timing would see WCW changing course and putting more women in storylines beyond being in the dance time.

Keibler quickly got over with the audience due to a star look, charisma and the ability to connect. The run was rather short since WCW went out of business quickly into her run and led to WWE benefiting from the breakout star. However, each of the following moments showed Stacy had some noteworthy times in WCW.

8 Her Winning Nitro Girls Dance Segment Did Great Numbers

Stacy Keibler As A Nitro Girl

WCW used the Nitro Girls competition to place women on television in the hopes of it increasing viewership since WWE benefited from that. Stacy Keibler was the standout talent showcased that ultimately won it, but there was another element to it for her.

The segment with Stacy’s dance routine drew 4.4 million viewers and had one of the better quarterly ratings of the night. Keibler easily won the fan vote over the other choices to gain the guaranteed contract as part of the Nitro Girls. WCW realized that she would be a positive addition to the company before he officially signed.

7 First Associated With Lenny & Lodi Team

Lenny Lodi

The controversial tag team of Lenny and Lodi became an issue for WCW when Turner executives were against their gay couple act that bordered on homophobia. WCW booked them to get insulted by the other wrestlers and hoped fans would mock them.

The doubling down on this by having Lenny and Lodi associated with Stacy Keibler’s Miss Hancock character focused on them being tied to standards and practices. Lenny and Lodi were removed from television for both the controversial act and for mocking network executives that wanted them to tame down.

6 Feud With Kimberly Page Ended Abruptly

The Miss Hancock character was naturally a face at first since fans cheered Stacy Keibler dancing during matches and distracting the heels. Kimberly Page was getting a noteworthy heel push at the time after turning on her husband Diamond Dallas Page for a new character.

The jealousy from Kimberly towards Stacy led to them having a few exchanges. DDP made the save for Keibler once when Kimberly tried to have Mike Awesome attack her. WCW never got to pay off whatever they wanted from this feud since Kimberly left after Scott Steiner made unprofessional comments about her in a shoot promo.

5 Love Triangle With David Flair & Daffney

Stacy Keibler vs Daffney

WCW channeled the heel side of Stacy Keibler when she broke up the relationship between David Flair and Daffney. The various pushes for David never worked out until he formed a tag team with Crowbar and a romantic angle with Daffney as his love interest.

Keibler working her way into the love triangle saw David turning heel and betraying Daffney. This ended up being a mistake for all involved as David had much better chemistry with Daffney and flopped again without her. Stacy was also better in angles without having to carry a wrestler less over getting a bigger push than her.

4 Pregnancy Storyline With Mystery Father Of Child

The soap opera style writing by Vince Russo made it fitting that Stacy Keibler entered a pregnancy storyline while dating David Flair. This was part of the reason David proposed to her, but the story evolved into the father of the baby being up in the air.

David not being the dad became the running theme with the hope being fans would care about the reveal. The storyline ended up not panning out when Russo was fired. Both rumors were equally terrible of it being David’s father Ric or Russo himself as the person Stacy cheated on David with.

3 Romance Angle With Shawn Stasiak

WCW pivoted to a new storyline for Stacy Keibler when she revealed she was lying about her pregnancy all along. Stacy claimed that she was going to introduce her baby, but it was just a photo of Shawn Stasiak as her new love interest. David Flair was off television when Keibler entered her new romance with Stasiak.

WWE wanted to elevate a few new stars and placed Stasiak in this storyline after his time with the Natural Born Thrillers faction ended. Unfortunately, the lack of chemistry and fans not buying into Stasiak doomed the storyline right at the end of WCW’s run before it was purchased by WWE.

2 Took Part In Mud Wrestling Match

Miss Hancock Stacy Keibler Vs Major Gunns WCW

Vince Russo was not trying to hide his portrayal of the women’s division in WCW with absurd stipulations like the “Mud Rip off the Clothes” match. Stacy Keibler entered a feud with Major Gunns that warranted a PPV match of this stipulation at New Blood Rising 2000.

WCW clearly just wanted fans to know that the two women would be ripping each other’s clothes off in a mud pit. Major Gunns won the match representing the Misfits in Action stable since they were getting a face push at the time.

1 Was In The Only WCW Wedding Segment

Stacy Keibler David Flair

WCW didn’t go as far as WWE with the sports entertainment vibe of soap opera segments. Weddings were somewhat common in WWE with many coming throughout the years. WCW had a rare wedding segment for David Flair and Stacy Keibler to culminate their romantic storyline.

Ric Flair even returned from an absence to attend the wedding and make it feel like a bigger deal. The obvious scenario of things going wrong ended when Ric was arrested, and Stacy walked out in anger. Both parties went back out to try their wedding again, but Keibler stopped it by saying David wasn’t the father of her unborn baby.
