Aaron Rodgers has been giving Tom Brady a run for his money ever since 2008, when he became the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. Though Brady may beat Rodgers in Superbowl titles and passer ratings, Rodgers crushes Brady when it comes to rushing the ball. He has rushed for a total of 1,604 more yards than Brady, and this season alone, he rushed for 305 more yards and four more touchdowns.
But, it's not solely on the field that Rodgers is showing Brady up. In 2014, Rodgers' relationship with actress Olivia Munn went public which meant he would soon be taking over red carpets as well. Brady's other half Gisele may be a model but Munn is more than an actress. She's educated, fluent in Japanese and a self-proclaimed nerd. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma, she took a position as a sideline reporter for college football and women's basketball, but ultimately quit because she said she felt uncomfortable and was "trying to be something she wasn't." Maybe the sidelines weren't her thing, but I'm sure she feels a little more comfortable up in the suites cheering on her boyfriend.
And look at them now. They are both having a great year. Munn starred in X-Men: Apocalypse and Office Christmas Party and Rodgers led the NFL in touchdown passes and is currently in the running for MVP. Move over Brady-Bundchen bunch and make room for Munn and Rodgers. Here are 15 things you need to know about Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn's relationship.
15 They have an Instagram account for their dogs
The couple has adopted two puppies, Chance and Frankie, since they started dating. Chance was adopted in late 2014 during the Fox Network’s Cause for Paws special and Frankie was adopted in the spring of 2016. You can find them both on Instagram, @chancerodgers12 and @frankierodgers12. Apparently, they'd like to use their Instagram fame for more important things like endorsement deals. Chance hopes to sell detox tea while Frankie is more into waist trainers. The two dogs were featured in People's "Superstar Pets" column and Munn joked to the magazine saying, "I'm sure Kris Jenner is reading this right now and I encourage her to move fast if she wants to represent them." The entire Munn-Rodgers clan lives by the motto, "adopt don't shop," and combined, the pooches have over 70,000 followers.
14 Public appearances are kind of their thing
Rodgers has stated that when he started dating Munn, he knew what he was getting himself into and what came along with becoming one half of a high-profile celebrity couple. He also said being with her has allowed him to accept his celebrity status and become more comfortable with his fame, since before dating her, he was more private. You know he wasn't lying because you can find the two of them everywhere and anywhere. From the Oscars to the Met Ball to Lambeau Field to the ESPYs, the two of them rarely miss an opportunity to dress up and strut their stuff down a red carpet or at the stadium. They're not always attending a fancy event or football games though. They hit up basketball games, stroll around whichever city they're visiting and go out to dinners, all with a paparazzi crew close behind.
13 They are not afraid to Dubsmash
Come on, you know at some point, whether by yourself or with someone else, you made a Dubsmash video. If you don't know what Dubsmash is, it's an app that allows you to video yourself lipsyncing to whatever songs, movie clips or sayings you choose. Well, stars, they're just like us! Though you can't find Rodgers on Instagram, you can find Munn. She has shared many precious moments and red carpet appearances of the couple, and also, a Dubsmash video or two. Together, they acted out a scene from The Princess Bride and in another video, Munn lip sang to "Hero" by Mariah Carey while Rodgers interpretively danced in the background. At least they can have fun and not take themselves too seriously.
12 They are willing to go the distance for each other
Starting quarterbacks and working actresses have hectic, busy schedules. So many Hollywood couples end in divorce or breakups due to these schedules and not being able to make it work. For the past two and a half years, that has not been the case for Rodgers and Munn. Munn has said she attends every home game for the Packers and Rodgers has visited Munn on the sets of her movies. She told E! News that she was okay with turning down some projects in order to make their relationship work. She explained, “There’s a lot traveling, a lot of driving, and then you’re just really happy with the decisions that you make.” She also said that it doesn’t make her sad because she wants her life to be full and to have all of those experiences so she has to figure it out as she goes.
11 The Force is with them
Munn has talked about her nerdiness from time to time. She has said, “But to me and more and more people I know, being a nerd or a geek means having passion, power, intelligence. Being a nerd just means there is something in the world that you care deeply about—be it twelve-sided dice, a favorite sports team, your new laptop or Night Rider.” The fact that that quote is from her book titled “Suck it, Wonder Woman!: The Misadventures of a Hollywood Geek” can speak for itself, and it seems that she has met her match. Both Rodgers and Munn are huge fans of Star Wars. Before the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Munn posted an Instagram of the two them dressed in Star Wars gear. The caption read: “Who’s the bigger #StarWars fan… The one who bought this awesome shirt at @oldnavy or the one who already owned his Obi-Wan Kenobi robe”.
10 Drama surrounds the couple and his family
Leave it to The Bachelorette to stir up a bunch of drama surrounding Rodgers, Munn and the alleged estrangement from his family. Rodgers’ brother Jordan appeared on (and won) the last season of the reality show. On the show, when Jordan took home his now fiancé, JoJo Fletcher, Rodgers and Munn’s absence did not go unnoticed. Their dad claims “fame” has changed him and media outlets immediately started pointing their fingers at Munn. The only thing Aaron has said about the situation was, "As far as those kinds of things go, I've always found that it's a little inappropriate to talk publicly about some family matters, so I'm just -- I'm not going to speak on those things, but I wish him well in the competition." When Munn was asked about the brother’s relationship, she simply said, "I don't think he's really talked with his brother. So, I actually don't know. It's complicated -- I'll say that." Hopefully, they can all work it out.
9 They are generous to their fans
Due to their high-profile status, Rodgers and Munn both come with a ton of fans and huge followings. Despite their fame, they know how and when they can make a little time for their fans and in turn, make their day. For example, one Green Bay Packers superfan gave up a present from his brother- VIP tickets to a Packers game- so he could celebrate his son’s birthday. When Rodgers and Munn got wind of this, they personally sent him a signed jersey. His reaction to this small gesture went viral on Facebook. It’s always nice to see a celebrity do something kind for one of their fans, especially when Packers fans have not been as kind to Munn since the pair started dating. It just goes to show there are still good people in this world.
8 They live together in Green Bay
What’s a Hollywood starlet to do in Green Bay, Wisconsin? Become a local of course. Though Munn is mainly based in L.A., the two have made a home for themselves and their pups in the city Rodgers plays football and Munn doesn’t mind at all. In an interview on Conan, she said, “I love Green Bay. It’s really comfortable there and everyone’s so great.” She also said that she once rescheduled a call with her representatives to go pick up her meat from a local meat shop, deeming it a “Midwest thing.” The pair has been described as very normal and down-to-earth by the local business owners. This past year, Munn also talked about how the two were trying to make new holiday traditions and were excited to decorate their tree, which they just got the previous year. The duo has really embraced the community.
7 There may not be a celebrity they haven’t met
Naturally, Rodgers and Munn have a wealthy abundance of famous friends. One look at her Instagram page and you wonder, who don’t they know? Early last year, Munn shared a photo of Rodgers and Chris Pratt together with the caption: “When @annafaris and I bring our guys together we can barely contain the manliness. #fishing #grilling #whatisthat #burntsteak #steaksaucewillcoverthatup.” Who else have they been spotted rubbing elbows with? Kevin Hart, Joe Biden and Oprah Winfrey, to name a few. You have to think between Munn’s co-stars and Rodgers’ teammates and the avid famous fans that come along with both, it really puts them in a popular position. Now it’s just time to plot how we can get into their inner circle?
6 She gets blamed when he's not doing well on the field
Back in 2015, the Packers and Rodgers just weren't putting up the numbers they were normally producing. They started out 6-0 and then went on to lose three straight games which was the first time that ever happened to Rodgers as a Green Bay starter. Analysts, journalists and Twitter trolls started to question what could possibly be wrong with him if he wasn't injured. ESPN.com said it could be that something was going on his personal life. They cited how his relationship status had changed and how his girlfriend was being spotted at games, but Munn wasn't having any of that. She responded to a tweet of the article saying: “Playing it fast & loose w/the journalism @RobDemovsky. Your professional skills are lacking… you must be having personal problems at home.” You come at the Munn, you best not miss.
5 They inspire and support each other
In order for any relationship to be successful, it takes hard work, compromise, communication and support of one another’s dreams. There is no lack of any of that in the relationship between Rodgers and Munn. He has stated how Munn has always made him a priority and understands his life and everything that comes with it. In the past, she has put some of her own career goals on hold in order to support him and let him achieve his goals. On the other hand, in an interview with Good Housekeeping, she said that Rodger’s healthiness inspires her. She told the magazine, “Aaron is so different than every other man I've ever met… there's so much I could say. Everything a good person can be, he is. He's in such great shape. And especially lately, he's been eating so well and working out. Having somebody in your life like that is so motivating." Anyone who wants a healthy relationship should takes notes from these two.
4 They're not engaged... yet
This will be the couple's third year of dating and there have been plenty of rumors and speculations surrounding the couple's engagement plans, starting the first year they were together. They got together in the spring and by the fall, Rodgers had given Munn a vintage yellow-gold ring with an oval emerald. She told the New York Post, "I wore this for a premiere, and he had heard me talking to my stylist about being obsessed with it. It is such a special ring, and then he surprised me." To clear things up, she added, "It's not that kind of ring, by the way. It's not the special ring. I mean, it's a very special ring, but it is not the special ring.” This past November, eyebrows rose again when Munn was spotted wearing a ring on her left hand. She claims it was a ring she usually wears on her right hand but that finger was swollen so she switched hands for the time being. We'll see if any new rings appear in 2017...
3 They have more in common than you’d think
I mean, he’s a star athlete and she’s an actress. You would expect them to be completely different, but in some ways they are more similar than you think. Rodgers can dodge tackles and throw Hail Marys on the football field but Munn has an athletic side to her as well. She is a black belt in karate. She also showed her boyfriend up in an Instagram video she posted of the two of them showcasing their sword-fighting skills while she was training for her role of Psylocke. On the opposite side of the spectrum, Munn is an actress known for her comedic timing. Though he may not be the funniest guy in the locker room, take a look at his State Farm commercials or the videos Munn has shared on her Instagram and you’ll see he has a sense of humor, too.
2 She had no idea who he was when they met
The two apparently met when they presented together at the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. After the event they were captured by photographers talking backstage and their relationship is said to have blossomed from there. During an appearance on Conan, Munn talked about how she had no clue who Rodgers was when they first met. She told Conan that she asked him what he did and he said he played football. Her response: "Cool! What college?" When he proceeded to tell her he played professionally, she asked him what position. She said, "All I saw was that he was like, really attractive. I didn’t really care what he did…I was like, ‘You are such a big man!” She ain't so bad herself.
1 They don’t get it on before games
Munn is very open about her relationship with Rodgers. So open in fact, that we learned the couple doesn’t have sex on game days, before the game at least. During an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen (who is notorious for finding out the dirt and gossip on celebs straight from the source) asked her about their game day sex habits. She didn’t hold back with her answer and explained, “There’s not a rule, but it just doesn’t happen because there are other things to focus on.” After the game? That’s another story. She said sometimes it happens but it depends on how late it is. She added that she tries to have sex as much as she can. I don't know who's getting the better end of the deal in that scenario.
