Fortunately, backstage fights are a rarity in pro wrestling, but not entirely non-existent. Since wrestling is such an emotionally charged environment, occasionally, personal issues spill over into the locker room.

There have been some backstage altercations in wrestling that have reached a certain degree of infamy, such as Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho and Bill Goldberg. Conversely, there have been other fights that transpired in the locker room, or outside the ring, that are somewhat lesser known. Here are 10 backstage fights that no one ever talks about.

10 Sheamus and Sin Cara

Sheamus sends Sin Cara into a ladder

This one seemed to cool down before it really got out of hand, but things reportedly once got heated between Sin Cara and Sheamus. Of all things, it was said to have been over a mat used for stretching that caused tempers to flare between these two.

Details are sketchy as to what happened, but the prevailing word is that Sheamus ended up backing down before the situation escalated. As you'll see, this isn't the last appearance that Sin Cara will make on this list. It's probably a good thing that this one didn't escalate any further as both men are known for being ill-tempered at times.

9 Arn Anderson/Disco Inferno

Arn Anderson

The altercation between Arn Anderson and Disco Inferno is said to have happened on a bus of all places. Arn was never one to hold his thoughts to himself when he felt someone was being obnoxious and disrespectful. Disco Inferno is known for being rather outspoken, and by all accounts, he said something that didn't sit well with Arn.

The Enforcer quickly got the better of the fight and there were never any future issues between the two. This one has been confirmed by the participants themselves, as Disco recounted the incident, transpiring exactly how it was reported.

8 Simon Gotch/Sin Cara

The fight between Simon Gotch and Sin Cara was said to have transpired in catering of all places. Gotch recounted in a shoot interview that he had been warned not to "mess," with Sin Cara. Unfortunately, Gotch ignored that advice and went on the offensive against Sin Cara and was easily overmatched.

Reports have slightly differed on how it happened, but everyone who was there seems to agree that Cara disposed of Gotch in record time. All things considered; this is something that shouldn't have transpired had both men exercised a bit of restraint.

Missing Link And Gary Hart

This is one incident that could have been deadly, given the circumstances. During the time that Gary Hart was the head booker for WCCW, he had entered into something of a power struggle with another front office executive, Ken Mantell. The locker room was torn as some had loyalty to Hart, and others to Mantell.

The Missing Link was one wrestler who supported Ken Mantell in his war with Hart, and allegedly attacked Hart backstage, during a show. Gary claims that The Missing Link slapped and punched him, before Hart pulled a razor on the hulking wrestler and began to slash away at his torso. Both men are extremely fortunate that this incident ended when it did.

6 Sin Cara and Alberto Del Rio

Once again, Sin Cara makes this dishonorable list, but this time for an encounter that was potentially life-threatening. This story dates all the way back to Mexico, which both Cara and Del Rio began their careers in.

According to a mutual acquaintance, Konnan, Sin Cara had offended Del Rio by repeatedly showing up late to shows. When Del Rio confronted Sin Cara about his lack of professionalism, a member of Cara's entourage was said to have pulled a firearm on him. This is one situation that was thankfully diffused before it escalated any further.

5 Shawn Michaels And The Harris Twins

It's no secret that Shawn Michaels was not the easiest person to get along with during the 90s in WWE. There are multiple reports of him offending and insulting his fellow wrestlers, throwing his weight around thanks to his stature within the company. Ron and Don Harris, a pair of twin brothers who competed under several gimmicks, were not ones to be taken lightly.

The story goes that they once had a fellow wrestler watch the door, and confronted Michaels in the shower, grabbing him by the throat and threatening him. The Harris Twins left the company not long after the incident, but would eventually return during the Attitude Era.

4 Vince McMahon And Nailz

It's not often that you'll hear about the Chairman of WWE, Vince McMahon, being involved in a backstage altercation, let alone being physically attacked by another wrestler. However, during a monetary negotiation, Kevin Wacholz, who wrestled in the WWE as Nailz, would go on the offensive after he alleged that McMahon had made inappropriate advances towards him.

At the time, only McMahon and Wacholz were in the Chairman's office at the time, and when others heard the commotion, they quickly intervened. It's probably a good thing that things were quickly deescalated, because it was said that Kelly, who is a massive individual, had easily overpowered McMahon with the unexpected attack. Nailz was of course immediately terminated from the company, following the incident.

3 Hawk And 2 Cold Scorpio

Hawk And Scorpio

The altercation between Hawk and 2 Cold Scorpio would take place in North Korea of all places. This story was touched on in a Dark Side Of The Ring episode that chronicled the unlikely Pro Wrestling event that took place Pyongyang, North Korea in 1995. During the trip, Scorpio and Hawk would apparently be involved in a couple of skirmishes, that Scorpio would claim he got the better of.

By the end of the trip, Hawk and Scorpio would thankfully call a truce and reconcile. One has to wonder what these men were thinking, allowing themselves to become embroiled in a trivial dispute in such a treacherous land.

2 Dick Slater And Sting

Sting And Dick Slater

This incident transpired during Sting's early days in the business, and was reportedly over a woman. At the time, Sting was teaming with a young Ultimate Warrior, and according to several wrestlers, Sting had become romantically involved with a valet at the time; Dark Journey.

At the time, Dark Journey was in a relationship with Dick Slater, and when Slater heard about the rumors regarding Journey and Sting, he confronted Sting. Reportedly, Slater disposed of Sting in quick fashion, going so far as to flush Sting's head in the toilet. Tracy Smothers claimed that Sting's partner, The Ultimate Warrior, attempted to intervene, but was thwarted by Dick Murdoch of all people.

1 Big Show And Great Khali

Big Show v The Great Khali Backlash 2008

It's surprising that this confrontation isn't discussed more often than it is, because it is truly astounding that it ever happened. Chris Jericho recounts that after a match in Puerto Rico, Big Show confronted Khali and accused him of stealing his moves.

The Great Khali tried to remain calm, but after Show insulted him, and Khali somewhat humorously delivered the same exact insult right back, Big Show swung at him. Jericho likened their fight to a battle between King Kong and Godzilla, which is exactly how one would likely picture it to be. It's said that Khali would get the better of the fight, but one can only shake their head at the idea of such a surreal encounter.
