As is often the case when allegations against a certain individual or group surface, often years after the incidents in question happened, other allegations that may have previously fallen by the wayside re-emerge. That appears to be happening to Vince McMahon at present, shortly after WWE revealed its board of directors is conducting an investigation into serious allegations made against him.

Allegedly Assaulting A Referee

The alleged incident that doesn't appear to be under investigation, at least not yet, is one involving WWE's first female referee, Rita Chatterton. Chatterton claimed she was raped by McMahon in 1986 and actually made the allegations six years later in 1992. Nothing much came of those allegations, but now they have resurfaced in the wake of the fresh accusations made.

No one had backed Chatterton's accusations, which may well be one of the reasons why they never appear to have been taken very seriously. That was until now. Former WWE Superstar Leonard Inzitari, better known as Mario Mancini while performing as an enhancement talent for WWE, has corroborated Chatterton's story during an interview for New York Magazine's Intelligencer.

Right After It Allegedly Happened

Inzitari saw Chatterton shortly after the incident between her and McMahon was alleged to have happened. “I remember it like it was yesterday. She was a wreck. She was shaking. She was crying,” Inzitari said. The wrestler, who now promotes his own indie company Paradise Alley Pro Wrestling, claims he stayed quiet about the incident at the time through fear of being blackballed from the business.

For those unaware of what has been going on with McMahon as of late, the WWE owner is being investigated for allegedly having an affair with a former employee and paying them $3 million to keep quiet. There appear to be a number of other alleged incidents being investigated at the same time, some of which may include head of talent relations, John Laurinaitis.
