Miz & Mrs. is an excellent reality show, but it's not just entertainment if you are a wrestling fan. It's also another window into the characters and the people behind them. The Miz and Maryse are two great WWE Superstars. Maryse was the longest reigning Divas Champion in her first stint in WWE. The Miz is a two-time Grand Slam Champion who main-evented WrestleMania.
Both Maryse and The Miz are great heels who faced questions about how sincere they were about wrestling. A decade after their debuts, they are still going strong. Now they have their own reality television show in addition to what they do in the ring. As sports entertainers, they are perfect for reality television because their job is very similar.
10 The Miz's First Job
In one of the Miz & Mrs. episodes, The Miz's father, George, buys a food truck and starts a food truck business called Miz's Steak Wieners. Miz decides to put Maryse's mom Marjo to work with George. The plan is to have them out of the house, but then Miz and Maryse realize they actually miss having Marjo around during the mornings. George and Marjo are not getting along at the food truck. So Miz and Maryse go down to see what's going on, and Miz reflects back on when he was younger working with his dad. He says his first job was working at his dad's Mr. Hero, which is a steak burger and sub place. George owns five Mr. Hero locations in Ohio.
9 Pranksters
On Miz & Mrs. episode, we learn they are a family of pranksters who love pulling one over on each other. Miz was on a top ten list for dad bods in one episode, and he started dieting. Maryse took the opportunity to mess with him, and so for his birthday, they just had a lovely meal at the house, and she gave him some gag gifts. She gave him a body shaper t-shirt and a gym membership saving the real birthday celebration for later. Miz has made Marjo think they left her at a gas station and planted a vampire statue in her room in the middle of the night. Marjo has dressed up like Miz and spoofed him on Instagram.
8 Bedazzled Shoes
WWE had the Mixed Match Challenge back when their roster wasn't as thin in 2018 and 2019. The Mixed Match Challenge was a Facebook tournament of intergender tag teams, and it was a lot of fun. Miz tagged with Asuka as part of team Awe-Ska. In their match against Naomi and Jimmy Uso, Miz wore bedazzled shoes. We saw on Miz & Mrs. that he was wearing the bedazzled shoes to the Mixed Match Challenge because his niece made them for him, and he promised to wear them.
7 Alexa
Ryan Cabrera is a musician, and if you don't know him from music, then you probably know him as one of Miz's friends on Miz & Mrs. Ryan Cabrera sang at Miz and Maryse's wedding, and he made many appearances on the show as a friend of The Miz. However, he made one of his first appearances with Alexa Bliss, his now wife. It makes sense, too, because Alexa and Ryan Cabrera were introduced by mutual friend, The MIz.
6 Friends In Real life
Miz & Mrs. depict Miz hanging out with a lot of his WWE buddies in real life. We saw Miz asking R-Truth for advice on baby proofing the house because R-Truth has five children, and we saw Miz lose Maryse's Divas Championship belt in a bet to Xavier Woods on UpUpDownDown. In addition to Ryan Cabrera, we saw Elias playing at Maryse and Miz's daughter's first birthday party. Also, Dolph Ziggler is a regular guest star on Miz & Mrs. and seems like one of Miz's best friends in WWE.
5 The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From The Tree
One thing we definitely learned from Miz & Mrs. is that they were born to entertain. Both The Miz and Maryse have very entertaining parents. Marjo is Maryse's mom, and she is absolutely hilarious. The show wouldn't be as good if she wasn't there. Marjo is always giving Miz hell and doing entertaining antics. George is the same way, and he has even made it to WWE TV.
On Miz & Mrs., they showed George doing a signing after his appearance at WrestleMania. Barbra, while not as extroverted as Marjo and George, is very entertaining as well. Watching her navigate dating apps with Marjo and telling Maryse embarrassing stories about Miz was very fun. Barbra has also been on WWE TV.
4 Morrison Pushes Miz
Another one of Miz's good friends is his long-time tag team partner John Morrison. Though Morrison's appearance on the show Miz, we learned that Morrison pushes The Miz. Morrison pushes Miz to try new things in the ring and outside the ring. Miz and Morrison are such a good tag team because they complement each other so well. Miz is the stronger character making up for what Morrison lacks, and Morrison is a better in-ring competitor making up for what Miz lacks. They would push each other and become better overall as a result. However, on Miz & Mrs., Miz learned to say no to Morrison and accept that there were going to be times he shouldn't try and keep up.
3 Not Neighborhood Favorites
Maryse and Miz moved from Los Angles to Austin, Texas. While they were there, they got on their local neighborhood watch app and found that there was some unflattering chatter about them. Their neighbors apparently thought they were uppity and had the impression Miz and Maryse thought they were better than everyone else. Someone also called them dumb wrestlers. Miz and Maryse took it on the chin figuring their characters on TV had altered people's real-life perception of them. So Miz and Maryse tried to change their opinions by giving everyone signed wrestling action figures as a way to endear themselves to the neighborhood. It makes you wonder how many wrestlers' TV characters affect them in real life in this day and age.
2 Mike The Miz Day
Miz has his own holiday in Parma, Ohio, where he is from. His dad George Mizanin talked to the governor Tim DeGeeter and got Miz his own day in Parma. July 3rd is Mike The Miz Day in Parma, Ohio. On Miz & Mrs., we saw that Miz celebrated Mike The Miz Day with his family and the entire town. Everyone gathered at The Miz's high school, Normandy. Miz achieved a lot at Normandy High School. He was captain of the baseball and cross-country team, student government president, and senior editor of the yearbook. He also played basketball and football, swam, and celebrated Mike The Miz Day at Normandy.
1 Shane And The Miz
Miz is a great heel, but he isn't a great babyface. It's hard to tell if he is too good a heel or WWE struggles with babyface characters. However, there was a time when Miz was pushed as a babyface. In 2019, Miz was a new father, and people had been watching him and Maryse on Miz & Mrs. for a year, so there was a desire to see him as a good guy on screen. He entered into a tag team with Shane McMahon to make his dad proud.
If you had watched Miz & Mrs., you could see there was some truth to the feelings behind the program. While it's very clear that George and Miz love each other, several episode plots have to do with Miz wishing his dad would express that differently than he does. The program with Shane is Miz's best babyface run in WWE, and their match at WrestleMania 35 even produced an all-time great moment for George. However, if you watched Miz & Mrs., you weren't surprised about how good a babyface Miz was during that feud because he is a babyface in real life.
