Finishing moves aren't always supposed to bring comedic moments, and the stunner wasn't always done to make fans laugh. However, there have been plenty of occasions over the years when Stone Cold Steve Austin has hit the move, and people were left in hysterics.
Whether this was because of the scenario in the situation, or how the wrestler sold them, there have ended up being some hilarious stunners in WWE history. It's a move that has brought a lot of joy, and plenty of laughs to the WWE Universe, which is one of the reasons it is so iconic.
10 A Stunning Elimination
Typically, Steve Austin would hit his finisher to create a three count. But during the 2002 Royal Rumble, things ended up being completely different. During the match, Booker T decided to hit the Spinarooni, which was his classic dance that always received a pop.
However, when he turned around from this one, it was Austin waiting for him. He dropped Booker with a stunner that was so powerful the former WCW star ended up flying out of the ring to be eliminated from the match.
9 Byron Takes A Low Blow
Before Steve Austin hit a stunner, he always delivered a kick to the stomach to set things up. However, during the 3:16 Day episode of Raw, things didn't go according to plan for Byron Saxton. The kick to the stomach ended up going south of that region, leaving the commentator in genuine pain.
The moment itself was awkward due to there being no fans in the building because of the pandemic. However, this particular stunner ended up being a hilarious one that fans will certainly never forget from this time.
8 Santino Salutes The Stunner
Santino Marella was the king of comedy in WWE, therefore it shouldn't be a surprise that he took one of the funniest stunners of all time. The two men had an exchange on Monday Night Raw, and of course, it resulted in Santino being taken down with the classic move.
It was all about the sell for this one. Marella jumped backward as usual, but rather than just falling, he added a little something to it. He ended up doing a salute in the middle of the air, which was hilarious to see.
7 Pat McAfee Spits Out His Beer
Pat McAfee may not be a full-time professional wrestler, but he can bump with the best of them. That was clear at WrestleMania 38 when he took the move from Steve Austin. He did an amazing job with this move, spitting out tons of beer as he flew backward, in an amazing sell.
The entire segment was filled with comedy, and that helped to make it such a brilliant one. Seeing McAfee sell it all was a joy to watch, including what he did afterward. Seeing him still drinking a beer while being knocked down was amazing.
6 Shane McMahon Is Destroyed
Another great example of a wrestler taking the move and spitting out their beer is Shane McMahon. He often took the stunner brilliantly, with Shane enjoying a big bump to make things look as dramatic and hilarious as possible.
During the Raw 1,000 episode, Steve Austin was able to hit his classic moves on the McMahon family to pop the crowd. Shane sold the move amazingly, as usual, to make it all look great as he spat out tons of beer while flipping in mid-air.
5 Stunning A President
Donald Trump's appearances in wrestling were always wild to see, and if it came to him doing anything physical, it didn't tend to end well. That was the case when he ended up eating a stunner from Steve Austin. This was one of those moments where it was so bad that it ended up being good.
It was sold terribly, with Donald just collapsing down immediately. No matter how hard Austin worked at this moment, it ended up falling short, with this being an incredibly poor, yet hilarious Stunner.
4 Xavier Woods Is Dancing No More
Steve Austin made a surprise appearance at WrestleMania 32 to confront The League of Nations following their victory over The New Day. He appeared alongside Shawn Michaels and Mick Foley, and they went on to hit their classic moves on the heels. It would be Xavier Woods who ate the stunner.
The build-up of this, when Woods was dancing helped make it so great. Austin slowly got involved, dancing along with him before ultimately getting down to business, hitting the move which Woods sold brilliantly.
3 The Rock Flips Out
When it comes to selling the stunner for comedic value, nobody did it better regularly than The Rock. He always oversold the move, making it look hilarious regularly. During one particular episode of Raw, he did it to a whole other level.
The Rock ended up hesitating in the ring, slowly falling as he waved his warms in the air. Austin would then get out the camera to line him up before dropping him with a stunner that led to The Rock flying backward, turning himself inside out.
2 Scott Hall Turned Inside Out
The WrestleMania 18 match between Steve Austin and Scott Hall wasn't one of the greatest in Austin's history. But it did create one of the funniest stunners of all time. Austin hit two consecutive moves, and it led to a genuinely incredible sell, which left everybody laughing.
Hall went flying into the air, getting so much height on the move that it was impossible not to find the entire situation funny. It was an incredibly funny moment, and that helped to wrap this match out in style.
1 Vince McMahon Struggles
At WrestleMania 38, Steve Austin delivered yet another stunner to Vince McMahon. The WWE Chairman was never great at receiving the move in the first place, but this particular occasion took it to a new level. Vince fell backward after being kicked and then stumbled into the Austin to receive the stunner.
Of course, even then things went wrong, and the WWE Chairman collapsed into a heap, rather than selling the move. It was utterly ridiculous, yet hilarious at the same time. This was made even funnier by Steve bursting out with laughter about how bad it was.
