At New York City's prestigious Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday, January 23, WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett went one-on-one with GCW stalwart Effy in what was his first match since 2019. Effy did all he could, but ultimately Jarrett's experience paid dividends, and he was declared the winner after hitting Effy over the head with a guitar and finishing his opponent off with a Stroke. Five months on, Effy is opening up about the experience.

During a recent chat with Renee Paquette of The Sessions, Effy recalled his memorable match with Jarrett.

"I got the full Jeff Jarrett experience. I got to fight him, I got to lose to him, and I got to have him decide to change the finish halfway through a show," Effy joked. "You have to get the full Jeff Jarrett and when you look back on the memoir you go, 'Well, he got me too,' me and Vince have that in common now," he added.

Jarrett was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018. The induction marked a reconciliation between Jarrett and the company following a 19-year hiatus. As you might recall, Jarrett parted ways with WWE in 1999 while he was still Intercontinental Champion. He was scheduled to lose the title to Chyna at that year's No Mercy pay-per-view, but his contract expired prior to the match taking place. Since that time the generally accepted version of events was that Jarrett utilized his leverage and demanded a large sum of money in return for working the match.

I remember having to lambast Jeff Jarrett a little bit because he wanted to do some things that I was not going to have happen and I was not going to let happen," Effy said of the former Intercontinental Champion in the aforementioned Oral Sessions chat. "You're going, 'this is bizarre right now that I'm holding the line to Jeff Jarrett and telling him what he's going to do,' but if I don't, I'm not going to get the product I want and I'm not going to get the experience I want. "

Jeff Jarrett's GCW stint was cut short when he rejoined WWE in an executive role earlier this year.
