It was arguably the most shocking result in wrestling history when Brock Lesnar defeated The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 to end The Streak. Needless to say, a lot of fans were unimpressed with the WWE's decision to bring an end to something that had taken a life of its own over the years. The Undertaker had won 21 WrestleMania matches in a row before losing to Lesnar on that fateful night.

A lot of people believe that The Streak should have never ended. While others believe that it should have ended at the hands of an up-and-coming superstar and a win of that magnitude would have catapulted his career to the next level.

While both those are understandable arguments and have a lot of weight behind them, history has shown us that the WWE made the right decision by ending The Undertaker's legendary streak at WrestleMania at the hands of Lesnar.

Brock Lesnar's WWE Return Had Not Been Anything Special Before Ending The Streak

One would think that Lesnar would be the biggest star in the WWE straight off the gate after returning from his run in MMA, where he had managed to become the UFC Heavyweight Champion.

That was not exactly the case though. Inexplicably, John Cena ended up beating him in his very first match back. He would also lose to Triple H at WrestleMania 29, and while he did have a great match with CM Punk at SummerSlam 2013, it is safe to say that Lesnar was not the top star in the company at that point in time.

Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 30

In fact, the build-up to his match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 had been incredibly underwhelming with nobody believing that Lesnar had any real chance of ending The Streak. That is what made it even more shocking when it happened.

Ending The Undertaker's Streak Made Brock Lesnar The Biggest Attraction In Wrestling

Everything would change when Lesnar ended The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania 30. Overnight, he became the hottest heel in the business. In his very next match, at SummerSlam 2014, he completely dominated Cena on his way to winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Since then, he has remained one of the biggest attractions in all of wrestling and a perennial main eventer for the WWE.

After ending The Streak, Lesnar has gone on to main event four out of the next eight WrestleManias and win seven world titles. That is one of the all-time great runs in the history of the business and none of that might have happened if he had not gotten that win at WrestleMania 30.

The Undertaker Has Never Had Another Great WrestleMania Match

The Undertaker had been on quite the run going into WrestleMania 30. For six straight WrestleManias, The Deadman had stolen the show. He had beaten Edge at WrestleMania 24, Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25 & 26, Triple H at 27 & 28, and CM Punk at WrestleMania 29. Not only were these wins over some of the biggest names in the history of wrestling, but also they were incredible matches.

That run would end at WrestleMania 30 though after Lesnar got the better of The Undertaker in what was an average bout between the two at best. A lot of that was due to the fact that The Undertaker suffered a concussion early on in the match.

The Undertaker Vs. John Cena WrestleMania 34

Unfortunately, he would never go on to have a great WrestleMania match after that, with his efforts against Bray Wyatt, Shane McMahon, Roman Reigns, and Cena being pretty forgettable. The Boneyard Match against AJ Styles was very entertaining, but it was a cinematic match and not an in-ring contest. Thus, WWE might have picked the right time to end The Streak.

Who Else Was Going To End The Streak?

Here's a question nobody seems to have the answer to, if not Lesnar, who else would have ended The Undertaker's streak?

Cena was in the last couple of years of his own full-time in-ring career. Reigns was not ready and even his win at WrestleMania 33 against The Undertaker was met with a lot of backlash and led nowhere. Other than those two, there has not been any other top guy in the industry over the past decade or so. The likes of Randy Orton and Seth Rollins might be outside-the-box choices, but they would have been underwhelming ones.

All things considered, Lesnar was the only real option to end The Undertaker's streak and in hindsight, it was the right decision and created the biggest attraction in the business for the next decade.
