It'll be a bittersweet moment when the Detroit Red Wings play their last game at Joe Louis Arena. The arena has been their home since 1979 and it'll be tough to say goodbye to a building with so much history, but the new arena being built in The District Detroit seems like it'll make the move easier.
The arena is expected to open in 2017, with construction costs estimated to be $450 million. The arena will be located in the northeast corner of Comerica Park and will be within a 45-block entertainment district. The video above provides a full immersive experience of what the arena and surrounding area will look like.
