I've always said one of my dream gigs was to be an announcer in a non-traditional market in a sport. A perfect example would be to hold a job as the Florida Panthers' play-by-play announcer. I have visions of myself being Harry Doyle from Major League, or now Randy Moller, who does some fantastic stuff. While the Panthers aren't an exciting team, have been a losing franchise and don't have a rabid fan base, that lends itself the opportunity to experiment on the air.
Moller has taken that notion and run with it, constantly going into a high gear, pulling great pop culture references and original one-liners himself. If I were living in southern Florida, I'd make it a ritual to listen to every Panthers game on the radio.
