The National Hockey League doesn't quite have the same national profile as the NBA, NFL, or even MLB, especially in the United States. Telling a female celebrity you play third line left wing for the Carolina Hurricanes doesn't exactly carry the same weight as saying you're the starting quarterback in the NFL; even if it's the Browns, you're still going to have a much higher profile than a prominent NHL player. That's just the way it is. However, that doesn't mean there aren't hockey players doing well for themselves on the dating scene. Hockey players, despite their mediocre looks, always seem to have beautiful partners, regardless of their fame.

However, there have been some celebrities that have dated and even married NHL players - Hilary Duff (Mike Comrie), Carrie Underwood (Mike Fisher), and Elisha Cuthbert (Dion Phanuef) come to mind. Those aren't the only celebrities to date hockey players. As you'll see in this list, there are more than a dozen rumored flings to have taken place in recent history, some of which were proven false, some of which were accurate, and some of which at least had some validity to them. Keep scrolling and let us know if any of the reported flings took you by surprise.
15 Douglas Murray/Elin Nordegren
Tiger Woods has been with so many women and there have been so many salacious stories to come out about his affairs that we sometimes forget his ex-wife, Elin Nordegren, was a beautiful Swedish supermodel who is still only 38 years old and looks incredible. The couple was married for six years, but the end of their marriage was swift and turbulent as Tiger's infidelity was detailed following a crazy domestic incident in which Nordegren chased him out of their house with his own golf clubs.
Nordegren has lived a relatively private life after their divorce, but she was once linked to former NHL defenseman Doug Murray. On December 7, 2012, The New York Daily News reported that Murray and Nordegren had dinner together in Miami. Months earlier, Murray was denying rumors they were dating to a Swedish tabloid, but there was definitely something there.
14 Sean Avery/Rachel Hunter
Sean Avery has been linked to a number of celebrities and beautiful women throughout the course of his NHL career, which is slightly odd given he's regarded as one of the biggest douchebags to ever lace up a pair of skates - then again, it kind of makes sense when you think about it. In 2004, Avery dated lingerie model Rachel Hunter, but the relationship only lasted about a year before the couple split.
Hunter subsequently dated one of Avery's former teammates, Jarret Stoll, who himself later dated Paulina Gretzky and has since married Erin Andrews. That's one impressive resume. Back to Avery; he wasn't too thrilled about Hunter's relationship with Stoll or Elisha Cuthbert's (another one of his ex-girlfriends) relationship with Dion Phaneuf so he did the mature thing and, during an interview, pondered why so many people in the league wanted his "sloppy seconds." So classy.
13 Brad Richards/Olivia Munn
There's athletes that seemingly need to date fellow athletes or celebrities and there's celebrities who need to date athletes. Brad Richards and Olivia Munn fall into those categories. Munn famously dated Aaron Rodgers for a few years before the couple split, which led Rodgers to establish a relationship with Danica Patrick, while Munn has reportedly been dating Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt.
Before that, the 37 year old model and actress dated Richards for a few months in 2011 to 2012. According to tabloids, the couple split because Munn realized she liked him as no more than a friend, which is a polite way of saying he couldn't get the job done in, um, other areas of the relationship. Richards is doing fine, however, as he's now married to Australian model Rechelle Jenkins.
12 Jordan Caron/Genie Bouchard
Genie Bouchard's love life is surprisingly secretive given her level of celebrity, especially in Canada, where she remains a star because of her social media status and in spite of her poor performance on the court. She made headlines in the past two years for her dates with the "Super Bowl Bet Guy," which led to fans of hers clamoring that they actually be a couple. But that probably isn't happening given Bouchard is reportedly dating hockey player Jordan Caron.

Bouchard herself hasn't confirmed the relationship, but she has posted Instagram photos of their vacations together, and a post on Caron's account from June 2017 includes Bouchard and some of his family members, so they're obviously pretty serious. No offense to Caron, but we're surprised Bouchard is settling for an average-looking dude who only has 28 points in 157 career regular season games. It's also being noted that they might have broken up, which wouldn't be too shocking either.
11 Tyler Seguin/Ciara Price
Tyler Seguin has been known as somewhat of a party animal since coming into the league as a rookie with the Boston Bruins. His off-ice actions led to the Bruins dealing him to Dallas for pennies on the dollar and he has since thrived in the Lone Star State. Hockey fans might have thought he calmed down, but the truth is he's just out of the limelight in Dallas as it isn't exactly a major hockey market. He'll show up again on this list, but we can't excuse his relationship with Playmate Ciara Price.
The couple reportedly dated in 2012, when Seguin was still a member of the Bruins, which makes sense given Price is from Portland, Maine. As recent as last summer, Price was asked by TMZ who was the hottest athlete in the world and she suspiciously said Seguin. Talk about shooting your shot with an ex.
10 Brendan Gallagher/Vanessa Grimaldi
A December 2017 US Magazine headline reads: "Vanessa Grimaldi Denies Dating Hockey Player Brendan Gallagher: 'Those Reports Are False,'" which almost certainly means the two are actually dating or they did date or they did some things together and don't want it becoming anything more than that. In fact, her rep even said they had been hanging out prior to that assertion, so at the very least she was testing the waters with the Montreal Canadiens star.
If you're like me and have no idea who Grimaldi is, it turns out she's actually a Montreal native who's famous solely for being on The Bachelor. I guess she was actually chosen by the bachelor Nick Vail, but the couple recently split up. She has nearly one million followers on Instagram, which is hard to believe for someone who has never seen an episode of the reality show.
9 Nathan MacKinnon/Vanessa Morgan
Nathan MacKinnon is having the best year of his career this season and if the Colorado Avalanche make the playoffs he should undoubtedly be in the Hart Trophy conversation; in fact, he probably is anyway. The Coal Harbour, Nova Scotia native has 81 points in 60 games, which is up from the 53 he recorded in 82 games a season ago. Last year was a disaster for everyone on the Avalanche, but a reason for MacKinnon's turnaround could be that his head is clear following a breakup with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Morgan.
Morgan is a 25 year old Canadian actress best known for her roles in Finding Carter and The Latest Buzz. She is also incredibly hot. The couple were dating early in MacKinnon's career as they even shared pictures of each other on social media, but that came to an abrupt end around 2015.
8 Sean Avery/Andy Cohen
This is one of the strangest rumored flings that will appear on this list (OK, the next one is pretty interesting too). We've already mentioned Avery's relationships with celebrities like Rachel Hunter and Elisha Cuthbert, but he was also involved in one of the wildest NHL dating rumors of all-time as it was alleged that he was engaged to openly-gay talk show and radio host Andy Cohen. Avery is now married to a woman, but the rumor gained traction probably because of his appreciation for high fashion, among other things.
The rumor was explained four years later during an episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Avery was the guest and the engagement rumor came up and they explained they were no more than friends. The Internet definitely overreacted back in 2013 when photos of the two hanging out together were shared.
7 Tyler Johnson/Girl Interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel
Okay, so this girl isn't famous nor do we even know her name, but it's too brilliant not to share. Back in 2015, Jimmy Kimmel Live produced a street interview segment in which it asked people what's the most impressive thing they've ever done. Oddly enough, one girl felt her most impressive accomplishment was cheating on her boyfriend with an NHL player.
She didn't name the player, but she might as well have. She said his initials were TJ and that he played for the Tampa Bay Lightning, which led the interviewer to ask if it was Tyler Johnson to which she responded, flustered, "OK, I have to go." For his part, Johnson denied he knew the woman when asked about it, but why wouldn't he?
6 Nic Kerdiles/Savannah Chrisley
Nic Kerdiles might not be one of the first players you think of when you hear NHL star - he has only played in three career regular season games - but the former second-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks is a proven scorer at the AHL level who is ready for a shot to secure a full-time role in the NHL. Even if that doesn't happen, he's probably pretty satisfied with his life as he's dating 20 year old Savannah Chrisley, who, aside from being a beautiful blonde bombshell, is apparently the star of Chrisley Knows Best, which is also apparently a TV show that people watch.
She previously dated Detroit Piston and former Duke Blue Devil Luke Kennard, but is now moved on to Kerdiles. It's more than just a rumor; she confirmed as much in an Instagram birthday shoutout, stating "After spending months of focusing on ME...you came along. Thank you for always putting a smile on my face even when we're thousands of miles away from each other!"
5 Nate Thompson/Christina El Moussa
Christina El Moussa is an incredibly attractive 34 year old real estate investor who could probably be a model but instead co-stars on the HGTV show Flip or Flop. Now, if you're like most, you probably haven't seen a single show on HGTV, but you might be interested in watching Flip or Flop if I told you she co-stars with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa. The couple only finalized their divorce a few months ago, but Tarek is reportedly dating lingerie model Patience Silva.
Meanwhile, Christina has been tied to former Anaheim Ducks player Nate Thompson. Her rep later tossed out the "just friends" label, but it's clear they at least had a short-lived romance. Thompson signed with the Ottawa Senators last year, but was recently traded to Los Angeles, so perhaps him being back in California means something in regard to their status.
4 P.K. Subban/Charissa Thompson
Given his profile as one of the most well-known players outside of the hockey world due to his personality and philanthropy, it's kind of crazy that we don't hear too much about P.K. Subban's dating life. Instead, the focus is on his passion for helping others, whether it's through his financial donations to the Montreal Children's Hospital or his Blueline Buddies program in Nashville which pairs of youth from low-income families with police officers at Predators home games.

However, several people took notice at last year's U.S. Open when the cameras panned to Subban that he was sitting beside Fox Sports anchor and incredible blonde Charissa Thompson. Kudos to P.K. for being able to keep that under wraps; even if they are just friends, why would they have risked being seen together in public, knowing it would spark rumors?
3 Michael Del Zotto/Lisa Ann
There's certainly more layers to this than a simple rumored fling. In fact, Lisa Ann herself is notorious for, um, helping professional athletes "relax" and "stay out of trouble." She enjoys hosting them and cooking for them and then taking them into the bedroom, if you catch our drift. If you weren't aware, she's one of the most well-known mature film stars and she has cultivated relationships with dozens of professional athletes, some of whom have become rather annoying.
Michael Del Zotto, a defenseman for the Vancouver Canucks, is one of those athletes. In 2014, she tweeted: "Yes, @MichaelDelZotto the STUD NHL player... For some reason he thinks I am a dating service and will arrange dates for him. Strange, most guys want to date me, not use me to find other dates but OK.. I have asked him for 2 years to stop." Del Zotto subsequently blocked Ann, but another star, Amber Rayne, has since come out stating Del Zotto constantly asked the same thing of her.
2 Sheldon Souray/Kelly Kelly
This one is complete fact and not necessarily a rumor as the two were actually married, but if you blinked you might not have noticed, hence why it may as well fall under rumored flings. Retired defenseman Sheldon Souray was previously married to Hugh Hefner cover girl Angelica Bridges and, despite getting older, actually managed to up his dating game when he tied the knot with Barbie Blank AKA Kelly Kelly of WWE fame.
The couple engaged in 2014 and finally got married in 2016, but it was nothing more than a formality as it lasted less than a year. They even deleted pictures of each other from their Instagram account, despite telling sources the split was amicable. It shouldn't be that surprising given that Blank, 30, was 11 years younger than Souray.
1 Tyler Seguin/Summer Rae
The WWE released several of its Superstars last year, one of which was Summer Rae. While we know others are continuing to pursue opportunities in wrestling, there hasn't been much info on the 34 year old blonde, probably because she wasn't all that talented to begin with. It seems likely that her wrestling career is over. Despite being released, she has definitely been enjoying life.
The NHL has a bye week for teams as of a few seasons ago and Dallas Stars' center Tyler Seguin took his vacation in Mexico, where he was photographed making out with Summer Rae on a boat. Seguin has been linked to several beautiful women throughout the course of his career, but doesn't seem like the type to be ready for a serious relationship, so chances are they were just having some fun.
