Following his AEW debut, Hook has become the best booked wrestler in years.

The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil has quickly become one of the most popular members on the promotion's roster over the last year, and AEW's superb booking has definitely played a hand in just how over he has become.

From the offset, Hook has been portrayed as a star and has earned the adulation of fans worldwide, despite the fact he has yet to actually speak on camera. The silent, but deadly persona has worked perfectly so far, and AEW has done a masterful job building him up in the early stages of what is shaping up to be a promising career.

AEW Are Being Patient With Him

Following his arrival in AEW in December 2020, Hook quickly became a huge fan favorite, and an internet meme, with fans really taking to the youngster immediately. He became one of the most intriguing figures on the roster, and fans were desperately wanting to see more of him, but AEW has shown excellent restraint so far during his fan, not rushing the character's push.

In fact, they played their cards very close to their chest, and it took a whole year for Hook to finally make his in-ring debut for the company. It worked to perfection, with fan intrigue surrounding his potential wrestling ability growing with each week, and once he finally got to show what he could do, they weren't disappointed one bit.

Hook In AEW

Too often in professional wrestling, up-and-coming talents are pushed immediately out of the gate, and fans quickly grow tired of them as they become over exposed. AEW hasn't made that mistake with Hook yet, and they've done an excellent job with his slow ascension up the ladder. He is still only 22 years old, and Tony Khan is well aware of that, showing great patience in the story they're telling with him, and it's gone a long way into fueling the hype surrounding the youngster.

His Strengths Have Been Accentuated

AEW has done a really great job continuing to highlight what it was that made him so popular with fans in the first place. Hook immediately aligned with his father's stable, Team Taz, and it was his silent, laid-back, and cool demeanor that really endured him to audiences. He would often just lurk in the background, calmly eating a bag of chips, as the rest of his stablemates would be cutting promos, and fans really grew to love that about him.

His silent, but deadly persona has been a major hit with fans, and it's something that AEW hasn't strayed away from now that he has ventured into the ring. Hook is still a silent assassin and is yet to say a single word on camera, instead just dominates anyone he squares off against between the ropes.

AEW Wrestler Hook

It would have been easy for AEW to rush Hook into certain territory he wasn't quite ready for yet and hand him a microphone, but that could be a disastrous move, completely ruining the mystique of the character. Too often wrestlers have seen their characters take irreparable damage when they're forced into situations where their flaws are on show for all to see, but AEW has managed to really zone in on his strengths.

He Has Been Portrayed As A Class Above His Opponents

While his in-ring career is still in its early stages, AEW has done a brilliant job building Hook up as a legitimate threat to just about anyone he steps inside the ring with so far. He has been portrayed as a level above every single one of his opponents and has dominated them, quickly establishing him as a major player on the roster.

While his feud with QT Marshall could have dragged the 22-year-old down, and risked damaging some of the hype surrounding the character, he was once again shown to be far superior to his opponent and made quick work of the veteran in their recent meeting on the Revolution Buy In show.

Hook AEW Debut vs Fuego Del Sol

It may seem like a simple notion, but in a company known for its ultra-competitive, back and forth match ups, having Hook continue to steamroll through his opponents paints him in a different light to so many others on the AEW roster, and does an excellent job establishing him as one of the most dangerous wrestlers in the company.

It's still early days, but if AEW continues to book Hook with the level of care and respect they have so far, it's only a matter of time before he's a major main event star.
