Chris Sabin Impact Wrestling

IMPACT Wrestling is kicking off the new year in a strong way and on paper, the match card to Hard To Kill is looking pretty solid. Chris Sabin who is taking part in a pretty historic match that night spoke to on-air personality Denise Salcedo all about it.

At Hard To Kill, for the first time ever, the Ring of Honor World Championship will be defended on IMPACT Wrestling grounds. The current champion Jonathan Gresham will be defending the title against Chris Sabin under pure rules. Sabin said the following about Gresham's wrestling style:

"I respect Jon a lot, I mean he works really hard to be a unique talent, just to be something different. Obviously he works out at the gym, he works hard when he's training in the ring outisde of wrestling and you can just tell by his body of work he's just an amazing talent. He works really hard, he's smart, he's put in the work throughout the years, he went to Japan to train, it shows in the style, he has such a wide range of styles that he can display in the wrestling. He's an amazinng unique talent."

Gresham became a first-time ROH World Champion at Final Battle back on December 11, 2021. It was the final Ring of Honor show for the time being after the company announced they would be going on a hiatus and released all their talent. Gresham defeated Jay Lethal for the vacant championship, Bandido who was the previous champion had to vacate the title after being diagnosed with COVID-19. Since then Gresham has been defending the championship across different promotions. In fact, his first defense was at Game Changer Wrestling's Blood On The Hills event in Los Angeles against A.J. Gray.

The only other wrestlers to do so are Samoa Joe, Austin Aries, and Eddie Edwards.

Jonathan-Gresham-vs-Chris-Sabin

"Yeah, that's huge. That's something you can always go back and reference some sort of history in wrestling that you made. It's not really that easy to do something new and soldify your name at such a historic level like that by winning two world championships in two different companies like that. It would mean a lot, it would add to my credentials, to my career, it would be something I'd be proud of," said Sabin about the possibility of winning the Ring of Honor World Championship.
