Jeff Jarrett accomplished a lot in his illustrious career as a professional wrestler, but he'd never beaten Effy in the Hammerstein Ballroom ... he has now, though.

It all went down in New York City's prestigious Hammerstein Ballroom on Sunday, January 23 for the biggest event in GCW's history: The Wrld On GCW, which aired on Fite and on traditional pay-per-view. Jarrett went one-on-one with GCW stalwart Effy in what was his first match since 2019. Effy did all he could, but ultimately Jarrett's experience paid dividends, and he was declared the winner after hitting Effy over the head with a guitar and finishing his opponent off with a Stroke.

The GCW fans were not happy, but they almost definitely haven't seen the last of Double J.

Jarrett made his surprise GCW debut at the promotion's Die 4 This event, during which he nailed Effy with a guitar shot. Then, on January 15, Jarrett returned to GCW during their Say You Will show and laid out Effy's tag partner Allie Katch by busting a guitar over her head.

“He’s trying to rehash this whole, ‘oh Jeff Jarrett’s intergender wrestling.’ Because you wouldn’t drop the belt to a woman and threw a hissy fit and had to have everything thrown at you to even go under,” Effy said of Jarrett's attack on Katch during a recent interview with Wrestling Inc. “You’re going to come back and attack women again and go, ‘oh, I’ve been progressive forever.’”

The Wrld On GCW sold out before Jarrett was announced as a participant. The show featured a few other pro-wrestling legends, including Virgil, X-Pac, and PCO. Former WWE Superstar Brian Myers (Curt Hawkins) made a surprise appearance and helped out his former tag partner Matt Cardona (Zack Ryder), who defeated GCW stalwart Joey Janela. Cardona paid homage to ECW legend The Sandman by coming out to Metallica's Enter Sandman.

In the main event, Nick Gage and Matt Tremont defeated The Briscoes for the GCW World Tag Team Championship.
