John Cena has teased a match with Austin Theory by claiming the rising star is in need of an Attitude Adjustment.

Theory has been compared to the 16-time World Champion, and it’s reported that WWE boss Vince McMahon views him as the next Cena. A match between the two seems like the next logical step - they’ve both been hinting at one.

No reports of a possible match have surfaced to date yet Theory suggested he should have a bout with the WWE icon at this year’s SummerSlam via Instagram and is still pushing for it. Cena, on the other hand, has admiration for the United States Champion and had praise for him after the latter tagged the veteran in a video of him taunting a young Cena fan.

Theory also idolizes the wrestler-turned-actor.

“Someone who’s a very heavy influence on me, and a lot of people know this, is John Cena,” he said during a recent interview with the New York Post.

"I think when it comes to sports entertainment, WWE specifically, I believe that’s somebody that’s untouched. That’s somebody who has a hell of a record to try to stand toward or shoes to fill, so that’s definitely a huge motivation for me and somebody who I do get to speak with from time to time. I think that’s somebody I try to model myself after.”

Cena's Favorite Wrestler

Speaking in a recent Q&A posted to WWE’s TikTok account, Cena named Theory as his current favorite wrestler then pointed to his eyes and then at the camera to indicate he’s watching Theory.

Asked which star is in need of an Attitude Adjustment, Cena again said it’s Theory, completing the same motion.

McMahon is pretty high on Theory and will likely continue to push the young star. A match at SummerSlam would be great for all parties, as well as fans who would love to see Cena back in the ring.
