UPDATE: During WWE Day 1 on Saturday, January 1, WWE confirmed that Johnny Knoxville will indeed be participating in the 2022 men's Royal Rumble match.

It would appear Johnny Knoxville has reserved himself a spot in WWE's upcoming men's Royal Rumble match! The Jackass Forever start took to Instagram on New Year's Day to announce that he had begun training for the match, which goes down on Saturday, January 29, at The Dome in St . Louis, Missouri.

"I spent a lot of times over the holiday thinking about how i wanted to start off my 2022, and I decided I want to do it kicking ass and taking names," Knoxville captioned a video of himself declaring his intentions. "And the best way to do that i feel is making a run for the Rumble, that’s right [WWE's] Royal Rumble. Training starts today, not that I will need a lot of it because I have seen the WWE’s current roster and it’s laughable to think anyone can throw me over the top rope," he added.

The WWE Instagram account commented "good luck" on Knoxville's video, seemingly confirming an arrangement between the two parties. Celebrity Royal Rumble appearances are nothing new, although it is strange to have a celebrity be the very first confirmed Royal Rumble participant, as is the case with Knoxville.

The Jackass crew are no strangers to WWE. In fact, Johnny Knoxville, Chris Pontius, Dave England, Zach Holmes, Jeff Tremaine, and Jasper appeared in a backstage Raw segment as recently as a few weeks ago to promote their upcoming movie, Jackass Forever.

The most famous WWE x Jackass incident occurred in 2008 when Chris Pontius and Steve-O got their asses beat by "The Samoan Bulldozer" Umaga. This segment was initially intended to lead into an eventual handicap match between the Jackass crew and Umaga at SummerSlam in 2007, but the Jackass crew were forced to withdraw following the Chirs Benoit incident.
