Jon Moxley has been on a tear since making his debut on AEW TV at Double or Nothing 2019, the then-fledgling promotion's inaugural event. The former Deam Ambrose, now free of his WWE shackles and allowed the creative freedom to express himself, has become one of the biggest stars in the industry.

That stardom has been well-earned and deserved, for the Cincinnati-native has been putting on great matches and mouthing fiery promos almost at will in AEW. And while his catalog of matches is already impressive despite being less than three years into the company, some bouts just rank higher than the rest, as per the Cagematch.net rankings system.

Having shocked the world with his unannounced debut at Double or Nothing, where he attacked Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and the referee, Jon Moxley was finally let loose, and the crowds were loving it. Now established as an antihero character, the 36-year-old was slated to face Joey Janela in his debut at Fyter Fest, which was an unsanctioned match.

The two put on quite the hard-hitting show, with the unsanctioned rule letting them get creative and tap into their intrinsically violent natures. Moxley was able to put away Janela to get his AEW career off to a winning start, and it was good enough to help this match crack the top 10 on this list.

9 Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley (Dynamite; August 5, 2020) - 8.17

Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley (AEW Dynamite, 8/5/2020)

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley was to take on rising star Darby Allin in this episode of Dynamite, knowing he could not rest easy against the face-painted warrior. And what a match it was, as the challenger took his larger opponent to the limit before finally succumbing.

It was also much better than their first outing together and really sold Allin as a face for the future. He was relentless here, frustrating Moxley throughout and showing defiance to the very end.

8 Jon Moxley vs. Mr. Brodie Lee (Double Or Nothin 2020) - 8.17

Brodie Lee talks down on Jon Moxley ahead of their Double or Nothing bout

These two had prior battles before this meeting under the AEW banner, and despite expectations already being high, they more than exceeded that. Such was the brutality of the fight that Moxley had to deliver three Paradigm Shift's to his unstoppable opponent, one of which sent both through the entrance ramp.

This was a star-(re)making performance for the underrated Brodie Lee, selling him as a force to be reckoned with, as he took immense punishment here before Moxley finally put him away with a sleeper hold. Lee refused to tap, and knowing he couldn't break the hold, passed out instead.

On this anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite, these six word-class competitors battled it out in a Casino Ladder Match to see who would be the new No 1 contender to Kenny Omega's AEW title. In a match full of incredible moments, Hangman Page came out on top, setting up the long-overdue date with his former tag team partner.

Despite a slight twist to the usual multi-man ladder matches we are used to seeing, the seven competitors put on a hell of a show for the crowd. Hangman being revealed as the joker and eventually winning was just the icing on a very, very good cake.

The main event of Beach Break 2021 saw no time or motion wasted as all the competitors went full tilt to ensure the action never balked. This heated match was a banger, and it was made all the more exciting by a stunning angle involving Kenta.

While the heels, led by AEW world champ Kenny Omega, came out on top in a great match that played to the strengths of all involved, the post-match antics were as memorable. Kenta's arrival just showed that the forbidden door was no longer so and that AEW would team with promotions like NJPW to exchange more performers.

FTR vs CM Punk and Jon Moxley

This match was a real people pleaser, as CM Punk's mystery partner ahead of the match was revealed to be Jon Moxley, who he had battled so many times in WWE. Also, it was the former AEW champ's return tour from a rehabilitation program for alcoholism, so the moment was made all the more poignant.

The four former WWE stars lived up to the hype of being some of the best wrestlers on the planet, putting on one of the best matches in Dynamite history. It also helped further cement Punk's stance of being one of the top contenders to the AEW title now held proudly by Hangman Adam Page.

The Young Bucks try to hit the BTE Trigger on Jon Moxley

This is now reaching the upper echelons of best company matches ever as per Cagematch.net, let alone Jon Moxley's! Jon Moxley and close friend Eddie Kingston took on the then AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks in a barnburner.

The former duo was obvious fan favorites, but the heel brothers were not going to be outdone at their own game. The challengers gave the champions hell and more, but the Bucks were just too good on the night, multiple BTE triggering Moxley on their way to victory.

3 Bryan Danielson vs. Jon Moxley (Revolution 2022) - 8.67

Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley AEW

Anyone who faces this version of Bryan Danielson will enjoy one of their best matches ever, but if it's someone equally talented, like Jon Moxley, then sparks are bound to fly. Having wanted to team with Moxley for weeks, what the former Daniel Bryan got was one hell of a fight at AEW Revolution 2022.

The two ex-WWE boys beat the tar out of each other, even bleeding profusely, and while Moxley won (barely), the post-match introduction of William Regal was superb. He had mentored both wrestlers before, and soon after, the trio formed the Blackpool Combat Club, which will look to run roughshod over the roster in the coming months.

2 Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega (Full Gear 2019) - 8.91

This was not a match for the weak-hearted, but it did show what the two were capable of, especially Kenny Omega, who maybe was not best-known for his hardcore work in North America. After slugging at each other for almost 40 minutes, Jon Moxley delivered the Paradigm Shift for the W.

1 Jon Moxley vs. Wheeler Yuta (Rampage; April 8, 2022) - 9.18

Who would have thought that Jon Moxley's best match so far in AEW as per Cagematch.net would be against Wheeler Yuta? But that is the power of investing in youth with potential, and it was richly rewarded by the latter in this instance.

This was a legitimate limelight-grabbing moment for the young Yuta, and he will definitely figure more prominently on AEW TV despite taking the loss here. Not to forget, he got the ultimate sign of respect from William Regal, a handshake.
