JONAH, Impact Wrestling's latest big-name acquisition, has cemented his status as the promotion's new Top Dog by winning his debut match on the latest edition of Impact on AXS TV.
The artist formerly known as Bronson Reed went one-on-one with Jai Vidal in the second match of the show ... it did not end well for Vidal, who was squashed by JONAH in a matter of seconds after being hit with a few slams and a big top-rope splash.
JONAH's Impact TV debut was announced ahead of time, but the match was not booked until moments before it began due to Vidal asking Impact boss Scott D’Amore for a match.
As you might recall, JONAH made his Impact Wrestling debut last month at the promotion's Turning Point pay-per-view, where he immediately put the entire locker room on notice by delivering a savage beatdown to former Impact World Champion Josh Alexander.
JONAH's wrestling career began in his native Australia in 2007. He performed for numerous promotions in his homeland and later began traveling the world to perform for companies like Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan, and UK-based promotions Revolution Pro Wrestling and PROGRESS Wrestling, the German promotion Westside Xtreme Wrestling and American indie promotion Pro Wrestling Guerrilla.
JONAH signed for WWE in January 2019 and debuted for NXT at a house show in March of that year. He adopted the ring name Bronson Reed and would eventually become NXT North American Champion with a momentous victory over Johnny Gargano. JONAH was released by WWE along with several of his NXT colleagues on August 6.
Experienced athletic big men like JONAH don't grow on trees, so the gargantuan Aussie is obviously a huge get for Impact. If utilized properly, he could prove to be very lucrative and finally fulfill the potential we all saw in him during his NXT tenure.
