10 Vs Adam Page - AEW Full Gear 2021 (5.5 Stars)

Kenny Omega vs Hangman Adam Page AEW Full Gear

The Adam Page Vs Kenny Omega storyline set the stage for this huge bout at AEW Full Gear 2021. At that point, Omega had not only held the title for 346 days, but he also once held the Impact Wrestling World title and the AAA Mega Championship, while being AEW Champion.

In one of the best matches of "Hangman" Adam Page's career, Omega suffered defeat in one of the highest-rated matches in AEW history. Kenny's departure due to multiple injuries was shocking because he put on such a sharp performance during this matchup. It took two Buckshot Lariats to the front and back of Omega to help him finish the storyline between Page and Omega that was almost two years in the making.

9 Vs Tomohiro Ishii - NJPW G1 Climax 2018, Day 14 (5.5 Stars)

Tomohiro Ishii vs Kenny Omega G1 Climax 28

Ishii and Omega put on a near-perfect match in 2017 when they competed for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Title. This rematch had high expectations and the match delivered. Kenny's ability to adapt to any opponent is why he's so respected in the ring.

The way he adds a ton of comedic spots to set off Ishii in this match tells a full story to perfection. The last five minutes of this match are full of suspense and by the time Kenny scores the 3 count, his face is covered in blood as if Ishii's Brainbuster smashed Kenny's skull.

8 Vs Kota Ibushi - NJPW G1 Climax 2018, Night 18 (5.5 Stars)

Kota Ibushi wrestling Kenny Omega Cropped

Ibushi and Omega formed one of the greatest tag teams in the history of NJPW. The Golden Lovers had impeccable chemistry as a tag team, and it carried to their bouts against each other. During the G1 Climax of 2018, this was one of the big matchups fans had circled on their calendars, since Ibushi was the one opponent Omega could never defeat.

Though most thought 2018 could be the year of Omega, Ibushi met Omega in a match that would decide who would advance to the G1 finals. For 23 minutes, Omega and Ibushi put on a brutal match filled with emotion. This match is pretty much perfect and Omega even kicked out of the Kamigoye for added suspense. The second Kamigoye after a Tiger Driver off the top rope helped Ibushi become 3-0 against Omega.

7 Vs Hiroshi Tanahashi - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 13 (5.75 Stars)

The buildup to this match was the classic idea of Tanahashi representing the history of NJPW, while Omega was the new era (and future) of wrestling. This IWGP Heavyweight Title match was the second, and to this day, last time Hiroshi Tanahashi battled Omega.

The first part of this match features Omega ruthlessly taunting his legendary opponent. The story in this match was Tanahashi trying not to lose focus. This match is great because both men ended up wrestling very differently than they usually did. Kenny was a brutish beast, while Tanahashi attempted to out-flash Omega and was ultimately victorious in the end.

6 Vs Tetsuya Naito - NJPW G1 Climax 2017, Night 19 (5.75 Stars)

Tetsuya Naito Kenny Omega

This match between Naito and Omega was what every fan of the G1 Climax in 2017 was waiting for. The two had only met once before in the 2016 G1 B Block finals.

At this time, both wrestlers were reaching their peak and were red-hot entering this match. Anything short of a legendary bout would've felt like a failure and the two delivered. In the end, Naito snagged the victory and a Wrestle Kingdom 12 title shot.

5 Adam Page & Kenny Omega Vs. Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson - AEW Revolution 2020 (6 Stars)

Nick Jackson Superkicks Kenny Omega

This match is not only the highest rated in the history of AEW, it was crucial for the foundation of the company. Although Page, Omega, and the Young Bucks were huge stars in the indies, American audiences had never seen them compete at this level. Before AEW, Tag team matches had become laughable in America and rarely held their intensity.

This near-perfect bout is arguably the greatest tag team match of all time. Omega and Page ultimately retained the AEW tag titles in a match that, has since, changed the scope of what a tag team wrestling match could be.

4 Vs Kazuchika Okada - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11 (6 Stars)

Kazuchika Okada - NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 11

Okada and Omega have only wrestled four matches against each other and ALL of them are classics. Their match at Wrestle Kingdom 11 was their first bout ever and nobody could've expected the bar that would be set.

The battle for the IWGP Heavyweight Title showed the world what the future of NJPW wrestling would look like as Okada and Omega told a story for over 46 minutes in the ring. Okada was ultimately victorious, but the future this match set in place allowed every wrestling fan to end up being the true victor.

3 Vs Kazuchika Okada - NJPW G1 Climax 2017, Night 18 (6 Stars)

Vs Kazuchika Okada - NJPW G1 Climax 2017, Night 18

The third match of the Omega vs Okada feud is often not as highly regarded as the two Dominion matches because it lasted less than 25 minutes. By this point, Omega and Okada was a full show that fans could not get enough of.

Going into this match, many feared they had seen the best of the two, but the 2017 G1 match was far different from the story of the other two bouts. Omega finally landed the One Winged Angel on Okada winning the match, but ultimately lost to Tetsuya Naito in the finals.

2 Vs Kazuchika Okada - NJPW Dominion 6.11 (6.25 Stars)

IWGP Heavyweight Championship: Kazuchika Okada vs. Kenny Omega (NJPW Dominion 6.11 in Osaka-Jo Hall, 6/11/2017) - 9.68

This is still the biggest rematch in the history of New Japan Pro Wrestling. After the two put on an insane performance at Wrestle Kingdom 11, the expectations for this match were massive. Okada vs Omega II still surpassed every expectation in this battle for the IWGP Heavyweight Title.

Omega landed a One Winged Angel, but Okada was able to get his foot on the rope, which caused the audience at the Osaka-jo Hall to explode with emotion. This match ended in a time-limit draw and although there was no winner, no one can truly complain about the finish of this amazing match. It seemed this 6.25-star match would never be surpassed, and then the two competed at Dominion 6.9 the next year.

1 Vs Kazuchika Okada, "Best Two Out Of Three Falls" - NJPW Dominion 6.9, 2018 (7 Stars)

Vs Kazuchika Okada, "Best Two Out Of Three Falls" - NJPW Dominion 6.9, 2018

An 18-month story wrapped in a two-out-of-three falls match featuring two of the greatest wrestlers of all time had impossible expectations to live up to, somehow, Okada and Kenny surpassed the insane bar they set at Dominion the year before. The first fall established a five-plus star match. The second fall was built around callbacks to the history of Okada and Omega that were executed to perfection.

The second fall also elevated the match to a 6-star rating. And the last fall will always be regarded as one of the most intense finishes in wrestling history. After four On Winged Angels, Omega won the IWGP Heavyweight Title in the once-in-a-generation match that entertained everyone for over an hour.
