It appears rumors that Santana and Ortiz not being on the same page and not getting along all that well might be true. That is if you believe their friend, and former manager Konnan. During the latest "Keepin' It 100" podcast, Konnan was asked about the chatter that the long-time tag team isn't exactly seeing eye to eye and he confirmed that Santana and Ortiz are no longer on good terms.
"They are not on good terms," Konnan said when asked about the rumors. The assumption here is that he has a personal relationship with both and having worked with them in different places, including a brief appearance in AEW, it makes sense that he might have some inside knowledge on the status of their friendship. It's not clear why he would share that information as it could be something they don't want out there if true, but perhaps they don't care that this information is out there.
This update on the friendship comes after speculation that Santana might be leaving AEW. He posted a few cryptic posts about his contract status on social media and that has led to people thinking he won't renew his deal. In fact, fans may not see Santana much, if at all in AEW as he's currently out with a knee injury that he suffered during the Blood and Guts match on the Dynamite following Forbidden Door. It has already been confirmed by Tony Khan recently that he's in for a long rehab.
Unfortunate Situation For Santana and Ortiz
If this friendship really is over and Santana is thinking about leaving AEW, it's an unfortunate end to a tag team that was quite popular in AEW during their formative years. As part of The Inner Circle, they rose to prominence and were among the best tag teams in a promotion that really featured tag team wrestling. Hopefully, these two can get back on the same page at some point.
