Anyone who loved to watch "Macho Man" Randy Savage in his prime was no doubt a fan of his valet and iconic manager Miss Elizabeth as well. She stood out in the middle of a sea of monstrous men thanks to her incredible looks and endearing personality, something that fans around the world fell in love with.
While much of the attention on the pair focused on Randy Savage, there are plenty of wrestling fans who are dedicated Miss Elizabeth fans without being all that high on Macho Man. 10 She Began Her Wrestling Career As A TV Announcer
For how popular Miss Elizabeth was, there is a surprisingly large amount of people who know very little about her. She seemingly just appeared on WWE television one day, but she had already tip-toed into the world of wrestling before that.
She was working with International Championship Wrestling long before she made her way to the WWE and she did so as one of their television announcers. It’s said that she actually met Randy Savage there and that’s why she would eventually make the jump t WWE.
9 She Was Almost A Commentator
Even before Miss Elizabeth began her time with WWE, Randy Savage was doing what he could to look out for her. It seems that rather than any kind of managerial position, he actually petitioned for her to take a commentator role in the company.
Everyone knows that being near a wrestling ring can be a pretty dangerous thing. It’s likely that Savage not only wanted to protect his wife but also help push her to further her broadcasting career. Luckily for her fans, any commentator plans the company had wouldn’t pan out.
8 Most Of Macho Man’s Feuds Were Due To Her Good Looks
While most people are aware of one or two high profile Macho Man feuds that mostly began because of Miss Elizabeth, many may not know that almost all of Savage's major feuds during his time as a face were thanks to his manager.
The very first angle she was ever involved with saw George "The Animal" Steele falling in love with her. After that, Savage’s feud with The Honky Tonk Man was made even more bitter thanks to Elizabeth, and of course, the split of The Mega Powers was, at least in part, due to Elizabeth.
7 Her Relationship With Randy Savage Wasn’t The Easiest
Many people who don’t look much deeper than the weekly performances of their favorite superstars may not actually know that Miss Elizabeth and Randy Savage had a fairly rocky relationship at times. It’s unfortunate but not all that surprising that their relationship could be quite difficult at the best of times.
The pair were known to spend far more time together than most couples, and there have been various accusations by some people backstage about how controlling Savage could be. Whether the latter is true or not, spending almost all of your time off and on-screen with someone can’t be easy.
6 She Was Once Saved From A Chair Shot By The Undertaker
Miss Elizabeth was involved in some of the most memorable feuds of the '80s and early '90s. Despite that, many may have forgotten that she was once actually saved from taking a chair shot by a surprising wrestler.
Jake Roberts was ready to lash out with a chair strike, but Elizabeth was saved by The Undertaker, something that actually kicked off their feud. Nothing would ever come of this, but it is interesting to think about a re-imagined and more menacing Miss Elizabeth working alongside The Undertaker.
5 Her Final WWE Appearance Was Against Shawn Michaels & Sensational Sherri
It’s almost fitting that Miss Elizabeth's final appearance with the WWE would be to assist in elevating another up-and-coming talent. While Shawn Michaels was beginning his singles rise, Elizabeth had long hated her rival Sherri.
Whether that 1992 final appearance was actually intended to be her final showing or not, it is fitting that she was able to battle at least in part against the always unique Sensational Sherri one last time. While the couple also wasn’t in the best place, they were able to go out with a victory.
4 She Would Divorce From Macho Man Shortly After Their Famous TV Wedding
Many point to the televised wedding of Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth as the most heartwarming moment in wrestling history, and those people may actually be right. The story behind that event does make it a bit darker, though.
While the pair were shown to be stronger than ever during their on-screen marriage, the two would divorce roughly a year later in real life. The two had been married long before the on-screen ceremony had ever taken place, but the marriage was important to many wrestling fans.
3 She Once Got Goldberg Arrested (In A Storyline)
It can often feel like people completely forgot Miss Elizabeth eventually made her way over to WCW. That in itself is surprising because she took part in some rather high-profile groups, feuds, and spots during her time there.
The entire storyline was essentially just more nWo shenanigans against Goldberg. She claimed that Goldberg had been stalking her which eventually led to his storyline arrest. The final few years of WCW can be a bit of a blur at times so no one should feel bad about not knowing about such a strange moment.
2 There Were Once Plans To Put Her Hair On The Line In A Match
There are a few sure ways to get people to tune into any match, and one of the best is to put someone's hair on the line for real. Things get even more interesting when the person whose hair is on the line, is a woman.
The match was actually surprisingly high-profile on paper. It was set for SuperBrawl 9 and the stipulation would be Elizabeth’s hair up against Rey Mysterio’s mask. Luckily, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall were able to pick up the win to protect Elizabeth’s hair.
1 She Was In The Business For Over 15 Years Before Actually Wrestling
There actually might be a fair amount of people who aren’t aware of the fact that Miss Elizabeth did in fact wrestle. The reason no one could be blamed for not knowing is that she waited over a decade to make her in-ring debut.
She began her work with the WWE in 1985, but she had been working in the industry prior to that. Her first-ever in-ring match took place in the year 1999 against Meng on WCW Nitro, but she was locked in a cage and didn't wrestle, with the match ending in a no contest. Four out of the five matches that featured Elizabeth ended in a no contest. While her matches weren’t anything amazing, anyone willing to step into the ring earns the respect of many.
