AEW's first show following Full Gear aired in the form of Dynamite on Wednesday night. The show included plenty of fallout from the PPV and started up some new and interesting feuds. From Bryan Danielson turning heel and promising to run through the entire Dark Order on his way to Hangman Page, to Nyla Rose progressing in the TBS Title tournament and tying Hikaru Shida's win record in the process.

A Bidding War For MJF

Perhaps one of the most intriguing segments of the show revolved around MJF and what he plans on doing next. As the pillar of AEW proclaimed no one in the locker room is on his level, CM Punk's music hit and The Second City Saint came to the ring to confront MJF. Punk looked MJF up and down, refused his handshake, and then left.

That's a match, or perhaps more accurately a build, fans have been looking forward to as soon as Punk's arrival in AEW was confirmed. Something MJF said before Punk interrupted may have got the attention of some fans though. Friedman bragged that he will be the center of a bidding war in 2024, further fueling talk that he'll jump ship to WWE when his current deal comes to an end.

MJF

Could He Really Jump Ship?

This isn't the first time MJF has openly admitted he will be entertaining offers from other companies when the time comes, letting WWE and anyone else know yet again that his deal expires in 2024. Earlier this year he admitted AEW “runs deep”, but that he is a businessman at the end of the day and will effectively go to whoever offers him the most money. Hence the bidding war reference this week on Dynamite.

This is pro wrestling, of course, and MJF is a character. He might well live that character to an extent that no one else in the business is doing right now, and could well extend that to jumping ship three years from now when his contract is up. Both WWE and AEW have deep pockets, so just by teasing that he would be willing to move on for the right price could well get him a big money offer from Vince McMahon, and perhaps a bigger one than planned from Tony Khan to make sure he stays.
