Big Update on CM Punk's UFC Debut

MMAFighting.com is reporting that once again, CM Punk's long-awaited UFC debut is on hold to the former WWE superstar undergoing back surgery.

"My back has always bugged me," Punk told MMAFighting.com. "Figured it was just wrestling sh*t. Turns out it was.

"It got bad enough to the point where I couldn't do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage, the next day I couldn't. I've been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy ... nothing worked."

Just last Saturday, it was announced that CM Punk would be facing 24-year-old Mickey Gall in his first fight after Gall defeated Mike Jackson. Apparently, Punk found out just before that contest that he needed the surgery but kept it under wraps.

The recovery time for the surgery is expected to be at least four to six weeks, but Punk still hopes to fight sometime in 2016.

"This is just a bump in the road," he said. "I'm positive about this."

Punk's debut was delayed last year as well due to a shoulder injury suffered in training camp.
