With Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s boxing career now over after an amazing 50-0 career, it looks like he could be ready to enter the octagon as a UFC fighter.
Mayweather has been hinting at possibly becoming a professional mixed martial arts fighter after posting numerous photos on Instagram of him inside the cage.
Of course, if Mayweather is going to ever get inside of an octagon and fight, the money will have to be right. There's no way that he's going to accept the kind of money that a typical fighter gets. He'll be looking to rake in the millions that he made every time he stepped into a ring as a boxer.
While I wouldn't mind watching Mayweather face off against Conor McGregor, there is a rumor that he could end up going after a “billion dollar run” and fight another new MMA fighter in CM Punk, according to UPROXX.
With Punk only having one match under his belt as an MMA fighter and is now 0-1, it could end up being an even match for him and Mayweather, since they're essentially amateurs at the sport.
One thing is for sure, there would be plenty of people willing to pay money to watch a former wrestling superstar in Punk face one of the greatest boxers ever in Mayweather.
As of right now, online bookies have Punk as a favorite over Mayweather, according to BetDSI.
Despite Mayweather's boxing experience, Punk should be the favorite, given the fact that he's listed at 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds. Mayweather is only 5-foot-8 and weighs around 150 pounds.
Even though Punk has only fought in one match, he's been training for over two years and would have more bouts under his belt, but suffered a couple of injuries along the way.
Of course, Punk and Mayweather are around the same age, so neither fighter would have an advantage in that category, but Mayweather has always kept himself in amazing shape and is hungry to continue to prove himself.
