A few days ago we told you about Jon Jones and the arrest warrant that was out on him in connection with an alleged hit-and-run. Well, that is just the most recent of his troubles outside the octagon for the man, widely regarded as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. And this time it has cost him his championship belt!
UFC president Dana White has announced that the UFC has stripped Jones of his light heavyweight championship belt and suspended him indefinitely.
"There is a long list of things and this was another violation," White told Yahoo Sports, "You can only give a guy so many shots."
So, about that now-vacant light heavyweight title: Jones was supposed to fight Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in the main event at UFC 187 on May 23rd, but now Johnson will fight Daniel Cormier (who lost, in a title fight to Jones, at UFC 182 back in January).
This isn't an interim title-thing either. The winner of this fight will be the full champion!
