WWE 2K games are probably the best and safest way fans can enjoy the thrill of wrestling without risking injuries. WWE entered the video game business decades ago, and they typically release one new game a year. Their ongoing 2K series makes them millions of dollars every year.

Countless wrestlers have been part of their video games, but there have also been some who were removed for some reason. Usually, stars are removed from the games after they are released from the company, but in some cases, even active wrestlers were omitted. The following are some examples of WWE choosing to remove wrestlers from their games.

10 Nash Carter

Nash Carter was going to be part of the Stand Back DLC for WWE 2K22, but he was later cut from the pack. His former tag team partner, Wes Lee, joined 2K22 without him. Carter was released from WWE in April earlier this year after his ex-wife made domestic abuse allegations against him.

There was another controversy surrounding him as a picture of him performing the Nazi salute, which was reportedly the actual reason he got released by WWE.

9 Hulk Hogan

Back in July 2015, Hulk Hogan was fired from WWE over his racist comments. WWE responded to this by cutting all ties with him, pulling him from the Hulk Hogan 2K15 DLC and removing him from 2K16 during development as well.

In 2018, Hogan returned to WWE despite fan backlash. He also made his return in WWE 2K20 as DLC.

8 Kurt Angle

Kurt Angle ECW

Fans weren't happy when they learned that Kurt Angle won't be a part of WWE 2K22. It was more upsetting because the Showcase Mode focused on Rey Mysterio this year, who beat Angle at WrestleMania 22 for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Some fans assumed that this was due to Angle's contract with The Wrestling Code, but Virtual Basement later confirmed that they didn't restrict Angle from appearing in 2K22. Angle was seemingly removed from the game for no reason.

7 Tessa Blanchard

Tessa Blanchard Backstage

WWE 2K Battlegrounds was released on September 17, 2020. A day after the game's release, fans found something interesting during gameplay. Former Impact Champion, Tessa Blanchard, was featured on 2K Battlegrounds despite not being a part of WWE.

Fans compared her in-game artwork with a real image, and both looked almost identical. The second image was taken by photographer Basil Mahmud. After talking to 2K Battlegrounds' developers, they released a patch update that removed Tessa's artwork from the game.

6 Zelina Vega

Zelina Vega Cropped

Zelina Vega made her WWE 2K debut in 2019 with 2K19 as a non-playable manager. The next year, 2K made her a playable character. In the past few months, Vega has won the Women's Tag Team Titles and the Queen's Crown tournament.

Despite that, she failed to make the cut for 2K22. It was surprising that 2K didn't include Vega in any capacity despite her getting decent screen time on WWE programming.

5 Austin Aries

Austin Aries TNA

Austin Aries was fairly successful in Impact Wrestling. He was a part of WWE for a brief period from 2016 to 2017. Aries was a talented wrestler, but he was notoriously difficult to work with.

Aries made his 2K debut with 2K17, as part of the Future Stars DLC. He was released in 2017, and WWE had to remove him from 2K18 after getting him scanned for the game.

4 Sin Cara

Sin cara WWE

Sin Cara made his WWE games debut with WWE '13 as Hunico. WWE later signed a deal with 2K, and he started appearing as Sin Cara instead. After WWE 2K14, Sin Cara appeared in five more installments of the franchise (except for WWE 2K15).

He wasn't a part of this game in any capacity. Despite that, there was a line by Michael Cole that indicated Sin Cara was supposed to be part of 2K15. He was going to be part of the NXT Arrival DLC but got removed for some reason.

3 Boogeyman

Boogeyman WWE 1

Boogeyman was part of the WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2007 game. His character looked very realistic in the game, and the entrance was awesome too. Fans were upset when Boogeyman didn't make it to SmackDown Vs Raw 2008.

He was active on the roster at that time and was supposed to be a part of this game as well. But for some unknown reasons, WWE dropped him from the game. The same happened with Jillian Hall.

2 Mr. America

Hulk Hogan as Mr. America in WWE

WWE SmackDown Vs Raw 2005 featured three versions of Hulk Hogan (the regular one, Hollywood Hogan, and the '80s Hogan). But Mr. America was also going to be a part of this game. But upon The Hulkster's request, this character was removed.

It's pretty obvious why Hulk Hogan would not want this version of his character in the game. It was a bad idea from start to finish and is another dark spot on his legacy.

1 The British Bulldog

The British Bulldog SummerSlam 1992

The first WWE SmackDown vs Raw game was released back in 2004. The British Bulldog was going to be a part of this game, but he was omitted for some reason.

Fans could still play as The British Bulldog if they hacked the game, though they would then have to replace one of the main roster wrestlers to balance the roster.
