The Milwaukee Bucks have become a premiere NBA franchise with their current core winning the 2021 NBA Championship and having a dominant team for many more years. Bucks fans have witnessed a unique franchise history of a couple of iconic players providing their biggest success at various points.

Milwaukee has a strong list of all-time names that certainly made an impact on the franchise. Recent history has seen Milwaukee remaining a contender each year thanks to a great star core. The history of the Bucks features many interesting names that left an impact on the fan base.

Few franchises have as many great talents as Milwaukee did looking at the past and present. Even the names that won’t reach the Basketball Hall of Fame were impressive enough to warrant looking back at the career of. Any NBA fan will enjoy a deeper glance at the Bucks history along with the names that defined that franchise.

15 Brook Lopez

The Milwaukee Bucks adding Brook Lopez saw him as the ideal center they wanted to contend for an NBA Championship over the past few years. Lopez evolved into a new role for Milwaukee after previous seasons of being a top scorer for the Brooklyn Nets.

Milwaukee witnessed Lopez becoming the perfect center for Giannis Antetokounmpo that could hit three-pointers on offense and defend the paint on the other end. Lopez won’t have All-Star appearances under his Bucks legacy, but he’ll be treated like a hero for his impact on a winning team.

Andrew Bogut was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with their first overall pick in 2005 and became part of the franchise’s history. The averages of 12.7 points and 9.3 rebounds showed Bogut was a trustworthy center that also added strong defense.

Milwaukee hosted Bogut for his one All-NBA selection when he was considered a top three center in the league. Even though Bogut won an NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors, he is more known for his time on the Bucks as his prime seasons.

13 Glenn Robinson

Eight of Glenn Robinson’s eleven NBA seasons came as part of the Milwaukee Bucks. Robinson thrived in Milwaukee averaging about 21.1 points and 6.6 rebounds during his stint with the team. The Bucks viewed him as a franchise piece until he reached the aging and injury processes harmed him.

Robinson was a two-time All-Star for Milwaukee and often was viewed as the face of the franchise during those years. The 2001 Eastern Conference Finals appearance for the Bucks was their peak for many years with Robinson as part of their big three.

Vin Baker had one of the most underrated stints for the Milwaukee Bucks looking back at his four seasons there. The all-around play saw Baker averaging 18.3 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game. Milwaukee trusted Baker early into his career and were rewarded for it.

Baker made three of his four All-Star appearances representing the Bucks franchise. One of his two All-NBA selections showed that Milwaukee had one of the better power forwards in the league. Vin had a few more good seasons for Seattle, but he fell off shortly after leaving the Bucks.

The underrated Terry Cummings delivered some of the best stats at his position with the Milwaukee Bucks. Cummings averaged 19.4 points, 7.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game in his six seasons in Milwaukee. The team trusted Cummings to carry a lot of the pressure each season leading the franchise.

Cummings made an impressive two All-Star selections and received two All-NBA selections as a member of the Bucks. Any time Milwaukee made the postseason during his tenure was a great accomplishment for Cummings as a leader and overall player.

10 Jrue Holiday

The final spot on a top ten list of all-time Milwaukee Bucks is the hardest one to pick. Nine other players easily should make the list, but Jrue Holiday wins out over some longer-tenured players due to the impact he’s had on the franchise.

Milwaukee took a massive risk offering five first round draft picks or pick swaps to make Holiday the final part of their core via a New Orleans Pelicans trade. Holiday has stepped up big time with nothing but great play and huge defensive stops that led to them winning the 2021 NBA Championship.

9 Michael Redd

Michael Redd spent eleven seasons for the Milwaukee Bucks during a time when they were nowhere near contending. Diehard fans of a team will be the first to admit that they’re the only ones to appreciate a player’s best during down years of lackluster team success.

The tenure of Redd saw him carrying the franchise with an average of 20 points per game and a reputation for his outside shooting. Redd made one All-Star appearance and received one all-NBA selection for his greatest season in 2004 before injuries slowed him down.

8 Marques Johnson

The Milwaukee Bucks saw Marques Johnson becoming a huge part of the franchise for his seven seasons with the franchise. Johnson averaged 21 points and 7.5 rebounds during his Bucks stint before moving on to other teams.

Milwaukee witnessed Johnson having enough success to make four All-Star appearances and have three all-NBA selections during that time. Johnson even had his jersey retired by the Bucks for his contributions being that impactful on the franchise’s history.

The Milwaukee Bucks struck gold when acquiring Khris Middleton after just one season in the league. Middleton wasn’t a top prospect or someone that fans talked about, but he slowly emerged into a tremendous fit for the team.

The core of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Middleton as the two All-Stars helped the Bucks become the most respected team in the Eastern Conference. Middleton was the second-best player on an NBA Championship team and has now made three All-Star games.

The Hall of Fame career for Bob Dandridge saw his best seasons coming as a Milwaukee Buck. Dandridge averaged 18.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in Milwaukee. The biggest accomplishment saw Dandridge as a pivotal piece of the 1971 NBA Championship team.

Many fans remember the Boston Celtics, Seattle SuperSonics or even the Miami Heat first with Ray Allen’s career due to his memorable moments. However, it was the Milwaukee Bucks team that drafted him to have the most games from Allen in his NBA career.

Allen averaged 19.6 points per game and was viewed as the best three-pointer shooter in the league during his first seven seasons in Milwaukee. The Bucks had Allen for three of his All-Star appearances and one all-NBA selection before he was traded to Seattle.

The Milwaukee Bucks have a strong top tier list of all-time great players that makes a great like Sidney Moncrief finish outside of the top three. Moncrief spent all but one season of his career in Milwaukee to become part of the franchise’s foundation.

Five All-Star appearances and five all-NBA selections show that Moncrief was the Bucks best player for quite some time. Moncrief even won two Defensive Player of the Year Awards and had his jersey retired all representing Milwaukee basketball.

Magic Johnson and Stephen Curry are the only two point guards that get commonly listed above Oscar Robertson when breaking down the all-time greats at that position. Robertson spent the final four seasons of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The high ranking for the triple double machine comes from his contributions to the 1971 NBA Championship as the main reason he joined the team. Robertson made two more All-Star teams and received one more all-NBA selection during his time in Milwaukee.

2 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

The NBA career of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is remembered in two chapters for his Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers tenures. Milwaukee drafted Abdul-Jabbar and saw him becoming a superb superstar center for the team before he moved to the Lakers.

Kareem was the top player for the Bucks when they won the 1971 NBA Championship. Three of his six MVP Awards came in Milwaukee. Five All-Star appearances and five all-NBA selections in six seasons told the story. Abdul-Jabbar averaged a whopping 30.4 points and 15.3 rebounds per game in his Bucks tenure.

The story of Giannis Antetokounmpo is enough to make any Milwaukee Bucks fan love him forever. Antetokounmpo was a risky prospect, but the Bucks drafted him and coached him to fulfill his potential and then some. Giannis is still in his prime, but he’s already delivered two MVP Awards and an NBA Championship as the best player on the team.

The accolades of six All-Star appearances, six all-NBA selections, a Defensive Player of the Year Award and many other things make him a dream scenario for Milwaukee. More must be achieved to remain #1, but his connection with the Bucks fans rank him just above Kareem.
