Chelsea is rumored to be planning a very late swoop for Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey despite the latter claiming he's going nowhere.

One of the most exciting days of the Premier League season takes place on a day where a ball usually isn't even kicked. Transfer deadline day. All the switches and transfers that managers have been trying to get done all summer being rushed through before the window slams shut until January. This time around, deadline day may be more hectic than ever.

That's because, in England, the transfer window will close the day before the new Premier League season begins. Normally, managers have until the end of August. That way they can assess their squads in actual competitive matches and figure out what needs tweaking and which gaps need filling. Not this season though. Managers will need to have their squads ready to go before the season begins.

There will undoubtedly be a lot of deals done on August 9, 2018, before the deadline passes, and one player rumored to be on Chelsea's shortlist is Aaron Ramsey. The Welsh international has been an Arsenal player for the past ten seasons, making more than 300 appearances for the club, but the Mail On Sunday has reported that he could move to Stamford Bridge for a fee in the region of $40 million.

Chelsea could be the side that sees the most action on deadline day. Not only could Willian, Thibaut Courtois, and Eden Hazard all still leave the club, but if they do then replacements will need to be found. The Blues have been linked with any number of players including Gianluigi Donnarumma, Anthony Martial, and now Ramsey. New manager, Maurizio Sarri is in the awkward position of having to replace players that might not even leave.

Ramsey has been an integral part of the Arsenal midfield for a number of years now and even though new boss, Unai Emery has stated that he believes the Welshman wants to stay, perhaps he doesn't have a place for him in his own vision for the club. Arsene Wenger leaving the Emirates means it will be a transitional season for Arsenal, keeping hold of someone reliable and familiar like Ramsey seems like a no-brainer. However, he could be playing his soccer elsewhere in London by the time the new season begins.
