Tony Kahn answered a question about intergender wrestling and his take on the idea of it for AEW. He said unequivocally, AEW won't do it.

During a media scrum where AEW President Tony Khan talked about Cody Rhodes' controversial and dangerous chair shot, he also gave his thoughts about intergender wrestling. He says, fans probably won't see it in AEW.

Khan used All In as a reference to explain his stance. A show produced by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks before AEW was a realization, Khan said, as a fan of the show, there were two things he didn't like about All In. First was the penis druids that carried out Joey Ryan and took away from the fact Hangman Page won a match and the second was when female performer Jordynne Grace got hit in the face during the battle royal.

Khan said it just didn't sit well with him and with such a fine line between domestic abuse and how complicated the topic is to even approach, AEW probably wouldn't go there.

What makes this such an interesting topic is that intergender matches are popular on the independent wrestling scene and for companies like Impact Wrestling. Tessa Blanchard is one of the more popular female wrestlers on the planet right now and is engulfed in a feud with men.

So too, AEW is the first company to ever promote and push a transgender wrestler. Nyla Rose was a standout on Saturday's Fyter Fest card and while the two debates are not the same, there is some crossover.

What This Means

AEW proved with Fyter Fest they were willing to push the envelope with their programming. To Khan's credit, he did say that what fans watched at the pay-per-view would not all reflect what might come on TNT in October.

In the end, Fyter Fest proved the women's matches could be as entertaining without the men so it's probably not something AEW needs to do anyway.
