For the second straight week, AEW Dynamite reached over one million viewers with no competition from WWE NXT.

According to Showbuzz Daily (h/t Marc Middleton of WrestlingInc.com), this week's episode of Dynamite recorded 1.104 million viewers.

This is down from last week's episode that garnered 1.219 million viewers, which marked the second-best viewership in the show's history. The Dynamite premiere on Oct. 4, 2019 remains the most-watched episode ever (1.41 million viewers).

It's obviously not the least bit surprising to see Dynamite ratings skyrocket following NXT's move to Tuesday night. The viewership should only continue to increase with no more competition on Wednesdays.

NXT also enjoyed strong viewership numbers with no competition from Dynamite. Last week's episode drew 805,000 viewers, which marked the highest viewership of 2021. That number increased to 841,000 this week, per Middleton.

AEW largely dominated the 18-month ratings battle against NXT. However, WWE scored a victory in the final head-to-head showdown two weeks ago.

The first night of NXT TakeOver: Stand and Deliver recorded 768,000 viewers, easily defeating Dynamite (688,000).

WWE Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development for WWE expressed satisfaction with the conclusion of what he called "an imaginary war" with AEW.

AEW NXT Wednesday Night War Graphic

In Aug. 2019, WWE announced that NXT would move to the USA Network on Wednesdays, shortly after AEW announced the weekly Wednesday night Dynamite program.

This marked the first head-to-head ratings battle between WWE and another promotion since 2010, when TNA (now Impact Wrestling) briefly moved its Impact! program to Monday nights. The goal was to to compete with Monday Night Raw, but TNA never got close to providing ratings competition, and Impact! was moved back to Thursdays after two months.

Both Shows Are Major Winners

As fun as the competition was for wrestling fans, NXT's move to Tuesdays should benefit both WWE and AEW over the long run. There is no more focus on trying to outdo the other on Wednesday nights. And as Cody Rhodes previously stated, the fans are "the real winners" here.
