AEW has officially announced the night and start date for their new weekly television show on TNT. It will start two nights prior to WWE's move to FOX.

The start date, time and weeknight for AEW's new TNT weekly television show has been a highly-anticipated announcement. Fans knew the new wrestling promotion was the first in decades to receive a primetime tv slot and that AEW would offer the closest weekly tv competition to WWE since WCW but when and where that tv show might air was still a mystery. AEW answered those questions on Wednesday.

AEW has announced that the weekly AEW TV show will air on Wednesday nights from 8 pm until 10 pm ET, beginning on Wednesday, October 2. This debut is interesting because it demonstrates  AEW is shooting to grab an audience for the show, two nights before WWE moves SmackDown to FOX on Friday, October 4th.

Added to the announcement was that the first AEW TV show will air from the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. AEW will be announcing details on tickets this coming Monday.

As part of the full announcement AEW announcement, the company wrote, "The highly-anticipated, action-packed matches will take place in different cities across the nation each week on Wednesdays." The company goes on to talk about their deep roster of wrestlers and that some of the biggest stars also serve as executives for the company. They add, "Focused on fast-paced, high-impact competitions, AEW offers fans more athleticism along with real sports analytics. Wrestlers are also given freedom to explore their characters and highlight their athletic abilities."

What This Means

The status for AEW as the second-biggest wrestling company in the world becomes more real with every major announcement. The television deal and official start time might be among the biggest of those announcements to date.

Expect AEW to talk more and more as the days and weeks roll by about the tv show through their uber-successful social media outlets and a heavy emphasis on the show to be discussed during their next PPV presentation, All Out.
