It feels like a lot of time has passed and a lot has happened since AEW's last PPV. That's because it has. The last big AEW show was Full Gear back in November 2020. The wait will soon be over as Revolution is almost upon us. AEW's first PPV of the year will air live on Sunday, March 7, 2021, starting at 8 pm ET. It will be the first AEW PPV to air on Sunday night rather than Saturday. Sunday is a more traditional choice for wrestling PPVs. While not yet announced, it's assumed the PPV will have a Buy-In that will start either an hour or 30 minutes before the show. US fans can watch Revolution on BR Live, while fans elsewhere can purchase the PPV via the Fite app.

Kenny Omega vs Jon Moxley in an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch for the AEW Championship

Even though Jon Moxley is the wrestler in this match with a violent wrestling background, Kenny Omega was the one who suggested this match type. An exploding barbed wire deathmatch. If it's in-keeping with the matches that took place in Japan during the 90s, the ropes will be replaced with barbed wire that explodes on contact. These two have clashed in violent matches with AEW's richest prize on the line already, but all signs point to this next encounter upping the ante across the board.

Team Taz vs. Sting and Darby Allin in a Street Fight

via WON

One of the biggest shocks of 2020 was Sting showing up in AEW. As soon as The Icon first appeared, fans started to question whether the 61-year-old would be returning to in-ring action. Despite being retired for more than five years after a scary end to a match against Seth Rollins, Sting will wrestle again. His return will take place at Revolution. The WWE Hall of Famer will team with his new protege Darby Allin to take on Team Taz's Ricky Starks and Brian Cage.

The Young Bucks vs. Chris Jericho and MJF for the AEW Tag Team Championships

via Mandatory

Despite AEW's onus on tag team wrestling, you'd be forgiven for forgetting who the Tag Team Champions are right now. It's The Young Bucks, and a big spotlight will be shone on their title defense at Revolution. That's because Chris Jericho and MJF's road to becoming number one contenders has been built on the back of The Inner Circle, and not in a good way. The faction is at breaking point, and if Jericho and MJF don't win this one, all of that sacrifice would have been for nothing.

Hikaru Shida vs. The Winner of the AEW Women's Championship Eliminator Tournament

via YouTube

AEW continues to come under fire for its lack of focus on women's wrestling. A large chunk of that side of the roster being made up of Japanese wrestlers hasn't helped since many of them have been stuck in Japan during the pandemic. AEW has worked around that by holding a tournament where one side of the bracket features Japanese talent. The tournament is still ongoing, and the eventual winner will face current champion Hikaru Shida for the AEW Women's Title at Revolution.

Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match

via Wrestling Headlines

Onto what will almost definitely be the match of the night. A six-person ladder match with a future shot at the TNT Title up for grabs. Since Allin is tied up in a street fight alongside Sting on this show, the championship won't be on the line at Revolution. Six men will compete in this match, one of which has already held the TNT Title on two occasions. That man is Cody Rhodes. Rhodes will be joined by Penta el Zero, Scorpio Sky, Lance Archer, Max Caster, and one other entrant yet to be announced.

Hangman Page vs. Matt Hardy in a Big Money Match

via Pro Wrestling News Hub

After treating his multiple characters like a roulette wheel, Matt Hardy appears to have landed on being Big Money Matt for the time being. The veteran has been trying to earn money off the backs of other wrestlers, most notably Private Party. When he tried to do the same to Hangman Page, the former Tag Team Champion turned the tables. Page tweaked the contract both had signed, adding a match to the deal. Whoever wins gets the Q1 2021 earnings of the loser. There's a lot to lose, and a lot to win, in this one with both getting AEW action figures recently.

Casino Battle Royale for a Future AEW Tag Team Championship Shot

via AEW

AEW's Casino Battle Royale format will return at Revolution, but with a twist. This time it will be tag teams competing in the match with a future shot at the AEW Tag Team Titles on the line. It's unclear at this point how the match will work. Whether eliminating one half of a team means the other half has to leave, or if they will be left to go it alone. Plus, the winning team won't know who the champions are until the title match later in the show.

Miro and Kip Sabian vs. Best Friends

via AEW

A lot of fans don't like how Miro has been used since he signed with AEW. Like the angle or not, it keeps on going, and at least it has landed the former WWE Superstar a spot on a PPV card. Opposite Orange Cassidy no less, who might well be AEW's biggest breakout star so far. Kip Sabian will be looking for revenge after Chuck Taylor and Cassidy ruined his wedding.

Riho and Thunder Rosa vs. Britt Baker and Reba

Revolution
via AEW

It feels as if the future of AEW's women's division will heavily feature Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa. Even though this match is on Revolution's Buy-In, this is their chance to prove they deserve those spots. The ongoing angle between the two has made for great television, and chances are with Riho and Reba getting in on the fun, this will be the perfect way to kick off the night.
