Former founding member of Rusev Day, Aiden English will be changing roles in WWE and joining the announce team for 205 Live.

English will join the WWE 205 Live announce team on tonight's show with Nigel McGuinness and Vic Joseph and the underrated and often underutilized WWE Superstar tweeted about his involvement in the show. English wrote, "Best mic man in WWE? Most underrated athlete in the company? Created the most popular act of 2018? And now become the best on commentary?" Beside all of those questions, English put a giant checkmark suggesting each question was rhetorical.

He then finished with "don't mind if I do." The comments section of his Twitter post were flooded with congratulations on the new role and praise for helping Rusev get over in one of the most popular angles in WWE over the course of the year 2018. One comment asked if they had witnessed English's last performance as a wrestler and tweeted a photo of English at a WWE Live Event. That question was not answered in English's announcement.

Whether or not English will be leaving his role as an active wrestler and joining the commentary team for good is unknown and no injury has been reported suggesting this move is driven by health concerns. Perhaps this is WWE's way of finding a better fit for the superstar and hoping that if they aren't going to push him as a competitor, they utilize his skills in another way.

What This Means

Fans will be disappointed if this brings an official end to the idea of English and Rusev teaming up and performing as Rusev Day. An argument can be made that they weren't given a fair shake as a tandem but as it stands now, Rusev is being pushed as a singles star on SmackDown Live in a battle over the United States Championship with Shinsuke Nakamura. This left English without much to do and an announcers role might be the perfect fit for someone with his personality.
