AJ Styles has publically denied rumors that he finally agreed to terms with WWE and committed his future to the company.

WWE has led something of a charmed life for the past 20 years. By that, we mean Vince McMahon hasn't really been faced with much in the way of competition during that time. At least when it comes to rival wrestling companies. WWE saw off WCW and since then, even though other companies have existed and popped up, none are anywhere near the level of WWE.

The reason we bring this up is because, for the first time in a long time, WWE is facing some competition. Not for dominance over the wrestling world or even for television ratings, but for talent. All Elite Wrestling has existed for a little more than a month and already, WWE Superstars seem to be requesting their releases left and right. Dean Ambrose is leaving, Hideo Itami has gone, and there will likely be more departures to follow.

While the loss of Ambrose is a big one, AJ Styles walking out of the WWE door would be a massive blow. That's why we thought WWE could breathe a sigh of relief this week when news broke that The Phenomenal One had renewed his deal. However, the two-time WWE Champion has revealed via social media that he actually hasn't re-signed with WWE.

Styles quoted a news story on Twitter claiming he had signed a new contract and wrote "please let me know the more because I know nothing about this." It is believed that Styles' current contract comes to an end shortly after WrestleMania 35. It has also been rumored that the two parties have been trying to come to terms for months but a deal has still not been signed. A worrying sign for WWE.

Styles undoubtedly proves himself on having basically wrestled and succeeded everywhere he has been in his career. WWE was the last promotion to conquer and he has now done that, and likely envisioned seeing out the rest of his career there. However, now a brand new promotion has popped up. One that he hasn't had the chance to tackle yet. We don't think it is completely out of the question that Styles might well sign with AEW this year.
