AJ Styles has given an update on his injury following his removal from Raw on Monday night.

The former WWE Champion was down to compete in a fatal four-way match on the show this week but was pulled due to injury concerns, with Baron Corbin being inserted as a replacement.

Styles explained having felt something pop during his fight with Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank during a backstage segment of the show. The segment ended with Corbin attacking AJ, leading many to suggest that the injury could be a work. However, the ex-SmackDown star showed up for a gaming session on his MIXER channel after Raw went off the air to go into further details.

"I've got something going on with my AC joint," he said (h/t Fightful). "It's rubbing up against bone and we thought I had a fracture. It may not be the case, which is a good thing. It may require a shot to keep the swelling down. It's not a major injury. It's just wear and tear.

"Hopefully, it doesn't keep me out for very long. I can't stand being out but I haven't had rest in a long time. So I'm going to take time to rest my body so I can be back. WWE has made sure we've dealt with this injury properly. Trust me, I want to be back. I want to earn my money."

PWinsider has also claimed that this is not a work and that AJ has been working hurt, claiming that the talk backstage is that the wrestler was "banged up" - that was before he provided clarification.

It's also worth noting that WWE hasn't advertised Styles for any of their upcoming shows. He hasn't been announced for a Super Showdown match in Saudi Arabia either so he could be pulled out of the event as well.
