WWE and AJ Styles have been negotiating terms for a while now but The Phenomenal One still hasn't pledged his future to the company.

It has been a while since WWE was genuinely afraid of a rival promotion stealing its talent. Even 20 years ago when WCW was still around, it was on the verge of entering its decline and more wrestlers were leaving for WWE than vice versa. Suddenly, with the appearance of All Elite Wrestling, there is a new viable option for disgruntled WWE Superstars.

AEW is still very young and as it stands and its only real statement of intent when it comes to roster acquisitions has been Chris Jericho. Don't get us wrong, that is one hell of an acquisition. If the rumors about Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks turning down bumper WWE contracts is true, they should also be considered massive coups.

What WWE now seems to be genuinely worried about is its own wrestlers jumping ship. Sasha Banks, The Revival, even The New Day have all been rumored to be considering trying their luck elsewhere. However, the loss of all those Superstars would pale in comparison to AJ Styles shrugging off WWE and giving AEW a try. The Phenomenal One's contract is up in April and according to PWInsider, he has still not signed an extension.

There has been speculation regarding Styles' contract for a few months, pretty much ever since he lost the WWE Championship. The 41-year-old apparently wants to work a less crowded schedule going forward. Fair enough considering the career he has had and the family he has at home. WWE may have tried to persuade him otherwise at first, but now AEW is on the scene it may grant Styles whatever he desires in order to get him to stay.

The other big name that could either end up in WWE or AEW, perhaps a couple of weeks from now, is Kenny Omega. Omega has said in the past that the only reason he would sign with WWE would be so he can wrestle Styles at WrestleMania. If WWE can get the two-time WWE Champion to re-sign soon, the domino effect could result in Omega joining up with them too.
