Amid a series of ongoing reports and backstage rumors, A.J. Styles took to Twitter and finally confirmed that he has signed a new contract with the WWE.

Styles confirmed the news in kind and humorous fashion, making his new pet dog the top story over the new WWE contract. It was reported earlier in the day by Mike Johnson of PWInsider that the signs had pointed towards Styles reaching an agreement on a new contract.

Sure enough, the former WWE Champion and SmackDown Live main event superstar is staying on after all. This puts an end to the rumors that he would be looking to leave for All Elite Wrestling, and it's obviously a terrific day for the WWE and all of its fans - given how much Styles is admired and respected across the wrestling world.

There were never any serious signs or hints that Styles was going to leave WWE. The company has given The Phenomenal One a massive main event push since he debuted at the 2016 Royal Rumble. WWE has had him face a large portion of the top superstars in WWE, including Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho and John Cena.

The only question now is how long Styles' contract is for, but it's most certainly going to be a multi-year deal. Major superstars like Styles usually receive contracts worth three-plus years, so we should expect something long-term here.

With the rise of AEW, there have been questions surrounding some of WWE's top stars. Dean Ambrose is set to leave the company after WrestleMania, while Gallows & Anderson turned down contract extensions. But while some of the top WWE talents are jumping ship, the company has retained one of its top main eventers for a while. It's a huge win for the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

What This Means

Finally, WWE fans can relax in knowing that one of their favorite superstars is going nowhere. Now that Styles is signed, the focus turns towards other stars who face uncertain futures in the WWE, such as The Usos.
